Wow, $10 is incredibly cheap. I wonder where it's made and what of. Looks good though.

My feelings on The Demon Rush
To be honest, having a DQ game in a marathon is not going to happen anytime soon. I don't know a lot about them, but I do know that in general they're very grindy, even when you speedrun them.

EDIT: The Gunblade sounds awesome though. So would the Dagger of Time, if that's possible.
Moo! Flap! Hug!

If I were at a marathon with a gunblade prize, and suddenly no one could find me...well, let's just say that you might be out a prize Wink
The gunblade will be present at the next AGDQ. And it will be guarded by Uyama, Breakdown, and Arrow. All armed with gunblades.
Haters gonna hate

I like this plan and I'm excited to be a part of it.

This is sort of a niche item I suppose, but what about the Mask of Truth from Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask?

Also, as far as the medallions from Link to the Past mentioned earlier go (and this is just my inner LttP nerd/purist talking, since it was my first game ever), I personally think it would be cooler if rather than adding engravings or details to them, give them a weathered look.

For instance, this is the official artwork of the three Medallions (Ether, Quake, and Bombos in order):

If the metal could get sort of a browned-gold effect like these and have the nicks and scoring in it, it would create a much more "authentic" (read: nerd friendly) effect on the medallions.

Another idea could be for the inevitable Mario game lineup is (naturally) a Metal Mario figure. While I realize that this might be hard to model, one idea would be to take an existing Mario figure and coat it in the metal:

With that said, I have no knowledge of actual metalwork, so I don't know if a metal-dipped Mario is a viable workaround or not, sorry if that's not feasible Lips Sealed

Pfft, hahaha.

...oh shit.
The Mask of Truth might be a god prize, but I don't think anyone wants one made of metal. Maybe someone can make it out of fabric somehow?

I think I'm going to make the golden gauntlets from OOT. The metal part will be easy, but I'll have to get a price on leather before I commit to this. Does anyone know whether OOT was popular enough to warrant another play through at the next AGDQ?

Regarding the medallions from LttP, I really don't dig the distressed look. This is the first time I've seen that official artwork, but it just doesn't look good to me. I also stick with my earlier assertion that the designs need to be augmented. The simple designs were acceptable for SNES, but they were really just icons, not actual artwork. It's time for something a little more ambitious.

The metal Mario idea may actually work. I have no experience with the process, but it's certainly possible to plate plastic with metal. Take a look at any car grill made in the last 20 years. It's chrome plated, but that's plastic under the chrome, not steel, like it used to be.

...oh shit.

I haven't told them yet that they'll have to pay for those blades. Baby needs a new pair of shoes and all that.
welcome to the machine
I can safely say that no matter what you choose to do, I'll be entranced by it.

...seriously?

Seriously.

I think we had more viewers during OoT than in any other part of the entire marathon this year. If we get another performance like that, holy smokes...

Just for an idea of that one, here's a snapshot pdf-coversion from 4chan's coverage starting just before the Water Temple began.

Edit: File Dropper is idiotic, put it elsewhere: http://www.mediafire.com/?yic9x1xymdvnk7i

Disclaimer: 4chan is unruly. Expect to see certain words you might not see elsewhere, and I would advise you don't read unless you're good with that. With that said, the majority of this file involves them absolutely flipping shite and blowing up over OoT's spanking. Enjoy.
Fucking Weeaboo

Can't open it, it's a 0kb file.
As I said before, Tom, I am very willing to attribute at the very LEAST $10,000 of the donations we got solely and entirely to the master sword. Ocarina of Time was easily the most watched game, the game with the biggest donation per minute, both in amount and count, once you factor out outlier donations of 1k+ that have nothing to do with what is going on in the marathon at the moment. It is very safe to say that Ocarina of Time will happen again if we get any runner for it, so there's no risk of working on a prize for a game that won't happen.

Can you cast a Mario figure in metal, assuming it's a closed-pose that you could do in a 2-part mold?

Or maybe make a mold of NES/SNES controller or a GB pocket, and cast them in concrete. I was going to attempt that for Xmas presents one year but never got around to it.

I really dig the medallions idea, too.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
The tentative (very tentative) plan is that since we've done any% and MST, and we did a lot of Zelda games this year, I was thinking of toning down the amount of Zelda games and making OOT an 100% run. I know runnerguy2489 is good at running 100%, so I don't think having a runner for it will be a problem.

Can't it be AGDQ13 already? *_______________________*
LLCoolDave: I'd say you're right. SMK and I discussed it and we came to the estimate of $20k for the sword. Too bad there's no way to know for sure.

if you can think of prizes for Iji or some other independent games, that would be cool. I think it was a good move to run Iji, Commander Keen, etc.

Kari: I could do a metal casting, even a lost wax casting for a complex part, but no matter what, it would be a sand casting, and that means that it would require a lot of finishing work. If you or anyone you know can sculpt a pattern of wax, wood, or whatever, that would be a good start. I'm afraid I don't follow you on the concrete molding. I mean, why concrete in particular?

Mike: are you putting the schedule together already?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Tom: I'm not putting a schedule together, it's just an idea I had in my head that I've told a couple of people about.
Back in the realm of medallions...

A screw attack medallion would be pretty cool.
We all scream for Eyes Cream
Maybe in the future if Kingdom Hearts comes back we could have the Kingdom Key Keyblade.

Super-cheap and durable.  Also, the only material I've ever used for that type of work.
Exoray
I'd say make the lttp medallions in a smooth easy shape , a few inches high and print like 15 of each. They would look good even with minimal effort. Somewhat similar to a regular gold medal in shape and size.
A screw attack medallion sounds good. I'll have to find a good image to work from. It is now on The List.

A keyblade may lie in the future, but when I discussed it with Uyama, he said that viewer count always went down during Kingdom Hearts, so it may not happen.

Moooh: Unfortunately, I won't be able to make that many. The materials and machinery that I have at my disposal won't allow it. However, I could do it if they were really small, like about one inch in diameter. To take that in a slightly different direction, I can make coin-size objects fairly easily, so maybe they could be prizes for a Mario game or something else with a similar emphasis.
A set of 5 Yoshi coins could work as a prize for Super Mario World.
