Hey Seth,

Thank you so much for the praise & encouragement. RM2 is a taxing game to grind & I need all the motivation I can get in the pursuit of a 26 minute run.

Really sad, however, to hear you're truly done with speedrunning. You were a major inspiration for me when I first became interested in the hobby & I greatly enjoyed your stream in days gone by as well as the sporadic conversations we've had. Please, whenever you stop by in the future, give me a shout in some form, I'll always be glad to hear from you. Smiley

Best of luck to you & thanks for everything!

Seth, your Mega Man 2 runs where the first thing I ever watched on SDA. It was great inspiration for me to know that those things were possible for a human to do Smiley
Good luck with RL

You will be missed Seth. I always had a great deal of respect for you and enjoyed your runs very much. All the best in the real life stuff.
Seth, watching your MM2 runs so long ago inspired me to begin speedrunning this game. It's been a blast and I have you to thank for it all. Best of luck with the rest of your life's journey.

Seth,
You will be missed, as you can tell.  I still watch your MM2 runs again to this day cause I like them so much.  May real life send you back to us one day...

Respect.
in case people check sda forums and not other information outlets:

looking forward to watching...congrats dude
F*ckin' sanity effects...
Outstanding.
I had a quick question about boss order. I thought I found good orders, but every time I find one, I find one that's apparently better?

- What's the best order for Megaman 2, Normal?
- What's the best order for Megaman 2, Normal (ZIPLESS)?

I'm sorry if this has been answered a bunch in this thread, but everything I find seems to contradict what I found! Sad lol

P.S.
Congrats on your run, Cyghfer!

Learning Mega Man 2 Any%
Hi everyone, I'm very new to the Mega Man 2 speedrunning community, and I haven't even finished learning to speed run the game. I accidentally came across a way to "warp" to a glitchy version of Wily Castle Stage 3 from Wood Man. This has probably already been found since this game is over 20 years old, and I followed this glitchy stage up until the boss room, and the boss doesn't load, so it's probably useless. Have you guys seen this before?:

P.S. I understand this is probably just some glitchy loading of the area, rather than an actual warp to the level, since the Wood Man music stays.
yeah this is well known, it happens if you zip past woodman's door instead of death warping to the boss corridor

"I've Covered Cons Ya Know!"
Yo What's up guys! Frank Wak here, and I'm SUUPER new to speed running, however in preparation of building the courage to meet other people interested in speed running I began my SR Career with MM2. and after 7 Months I recorded my first run to beat my last best to Sub 40 (It's super sloppy) I am very interested to talk with you all to help improve my time, and maybe improve all of yours as wells.
Hello all, I'm currently learning mm2 and I'm having trouble with Wood Man's stage. Specifically, I can't figure out how to initiate the vertical zip next to the ladder once you pass the hog dog screens.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but the wiki seems to say that you do it by entering the ceiling and then jumping 2-3 times and pressing up.  When I try this, nothing happens.  I've gotten the zip to work a couple times by jumping 3 times, pressing up and then mashing on the d pad, but obviously, this is not a reliable way to do it.  I've been screwing around with this for a while but I'm not getting anywhere and don't really know what I'm doing wrong.

Anyway, any help would be massively appreciated!

Hi ellisdeez,

There are a couple things you need to know to get this zip to work.

- The first jump must be precisely timed.  If you do the first jump too early, you'll fall off the platform.  If you do it too late, you'll trigger the screen transition like normal and appear at the bottom of the screen.
- The first correct frame to press jump for the first time is shown in this screenshot.  There are 9 frames (3 pixels) where the jump works, starting with this one:

- As a visual cue, I look at Mega Man's feet.  Once the red pixel of his foot aligns vertically with the brown pixels of the ceiling, I press jump.
- Some times only 2 jumps are required, other times 3.  Just do 3 jumps just in case.
- To trigger the transition, you typically only press up.  However, if you are standing too far to the left on the Item 1 when you begin jumping, you may need to press Up+Right.  Over half the width of Mega Man's sprite must be overlapping the ladder in order for only pressing Up to work (like in the screenshot).  I press Up+Right every time, just in case (make sure to be holding Up before you press Right - you may fall if you press Right first).

Does that make sense?  Let us know if you get it!
Hi there, i'm learning MM2 too (2 too...well...). I can make the jump you're showing, but i don't understand what's the correct input sequence to get in front to woodman's boss chamber. In other words, what do i have to do AFTER that jump?
It's a tough and lengthy explanation, I recommend watching an input display of someone playing it, and copy it as best you can.  Ello has a good video:

Also, here's a neat visualization of what's happening:

Try it and if you get stuck with a specific part, come back and ask.
K thanks..i'll try
