European Speedster Assembly 2013 - Practice Thread [locked]

On the 29th of June, we're going to have a practice marathon at my place, streaming all the practice runs! A schedule exists and will be linked to when all involved parties have noted that it's one that works.

Participants are, if everyone can make it, me, WERY, Ozzy88, Airrider and IrregularJinny.

It is more or less a autoscroller, even if you can buy a faster airplane, the autoscroller does not go any faster. So the only way of gaining time is by planning the leveling and the bossfights. Which me and bangerra have perfected. But you can lose 85 seconds on a single fight so rng is the big factor.

Did two SotN runs.

One was around the 22-23min mark and the other was 20:53. That is my best timed RTA.

How that run compares to my best In-game time run I do not know. Guess I'll time my In-game timed run off youtube and see how long it really is Tongue

Asterix and Obelix: I really hate to repeat myself, but I PB'd Asterix again with 35:17. I also looked into Obelix. I closed that book very quickly. No bidding war between the characters. Damn fat guy with his huge hitbox >__>

If anyone knows anyone who's any good at Dark Souls do ask if they're interested in running it at ESA. I'm desperate.

Oh and I got a new Max Payne 2 WR by 3 minutes, down to 43:22.

The thing is, Kotti signed up for it and if nobody else did they probably won't be able to or interested in going to ESA this time.

Everyone please do your best to get in shape for ESA. If something needs some work NOW is the time to work on it.

I myself have some stuff I gotta do on-site but other then that I think I'm good to go for ESA.

Ufouria got a... new thing that saves quite a bit of time. At this point in time, however, I'm not sure I'll do it at the marathon because it's by far and wide the most ridiculously precise trick in the entire game. And that's even a bit of an understatement. I do have extra time, though (the estimate on the schedule is higher than necessary, in part because it was noted before another certain trick was found), so I might put in a few live attempts. It'll be impressive if I do get it. (this is a trick that until just this week was thought to be TAS only. So, yeah.)

So, I did a no-reset practice session just now.
Started out ok with some solid (more or less) Darkwing Duck runs.. then I got a new Chip N Dale any% PB (10:23).. decided to do one Mega Man 5 run and got a PB in that also! (38:53).

The Gothenburg practice stream today went mostly well and it feels like we are in shape for ESA now!

WERY ran a lot of games so it's not a surprise that he ran into some trouble with 2 of them and had to mercy kill them. Hopefully he'll try and get some extra practice on those ones so that can be avoided at ESA. Other then that it was just a lot of fun to hang out and see some real quality speedruns in person.

Thanks to KennyMan666 for having us and organizing this. And thanks to Airrider and WERY who are plain awesome dudes playing awesome games!

Yes it was a good time this saturday, and nice to see you other guys. I have been playing today as well. Pushing the times a little more and made a new personal best on Batman 2. I still have some of the games left for recording, before these can be pushed down in their times. But I've got far in that struggle Smiley
