Call me crazy, but I'm almost certain I saw a speedrun of this game's entirety long ago. Not as a .avi, but as .dem files, or whatever it was that duke3d used. In any case, it'd still be a hella nice game to see run!

That AND ShadowWarrior ^^

You should read those threads :

Even if it has been done before, it would be worthwhile to do it again, since there's no avi version of those runs anywhere I think.
I'm addicted to games
Someone recorded some run on some altered duke3d engine ... but I said I couldn't post them unless someone I trust would do a "detailed" comparision of how such an engine behaves compared to the original released engine. Unfortunately I dont remember the name... Maybe I'll edit this post later if I find the email.
It would be great to get LLCoolDave demos... But his site is down. Any infos on it ?
Bestest.

Could've been me.

It's sad when people/sites keep disappearing like this. I remember checking the site a few times every day and then one day nothing got updated anymore.

But weren't you the one who started to have these time tables? At least I saw your table first, then I thought they were moved to LLCoolDave's site.
I started the time table with Admiral_Bob (from 3drealms forum) demos and mine, but LLCoolDave beat all times we made Cheesy so I stopped speedrunning Duke 3D...

Hope radix gets people to check the jfduke vs. "vanilla" engine differences if there are any.
Apart from the graphical part and windows port.

I diddn't dit a run from each level on Damn I'm good skill , I have runned whole parts, like Hollywood Holocast. So in total I have a 3 parts movie, some of my level times are not superb but because I keep my stuff and health from the previous level, I can do some levels very fast Tongue

you can download the low quallity version on : http://www.sitesled.com/members/duke3dspeedrun-1/

I've only seen the first video - very nice run thus far! I loved the enemy-jumping!

You die many times after triggering the end switch thus halting the timer and getting slightly better time.
Even if it's not intentional I think it renders the runs disqualified. Dying wasn't allowed when we last discussed dn3d demos and runs (on the old forums).

First I thought there were quite a few reasons for dying while/after pressing the switch being "legal", but I found out that mostly I was wrong. There is still one though: the game moves on anyway. So the game laws actually allow it, which is what usually counts as the basic rules for a speed run, too. Maybe there could be 2 separate categories - runs with "death switch" and without.
The man made of sticks
Well that brought back some good memories... mostly me laughing uproariously at the Episode 2 end movie as a kid.  Those were the days...

I diddn't knew that, because I thaught it was just a handy bug in the game, I died after I pushed the end-button, so I died after finishing the level. I'm not planning to make a new run, it cost a lot time.

the end movies i can skip but I diddn't because they're fun to watch Tongue

Game moves - timer doesn't. I could just kill myself with pipe bombs
in e1l2 where you get trapped and save 5 seconds for instance and that isn't very stylish.  Sad

Was the site shut down or did you move it or something?

It's a stupid error Sad ... tomorrow the site will work again, I hope, it's a free site so it isn't perfect  :-/
Well, here are the demos that I have backed up, I might find some more somewhere. They all are on Piece of Cake, but they are the best demos that were around at that time. I've also included a set of maps that have the demo cameras removed. They are identical in all other respects, you just get to see the full demo in first person action now. Simply extract them into your main Duke3D folder and it should work.

You'll also need the 20041013 Version of JonoF's Port (the site is linked to in the recordlist.htm), which you should be able to find at http://www.edgefiles.com/dirs/776.html?p=3 (it might get bumped off further down and on the next page when there are newer releases added to the list, but it should always be available somewhere around there). Other versions might mess up on the demos. Oh, and use the 1.3D .GRP file, the atmoic edition has some minor changes in the maps, as far as I remember.

In any case, hope you can still enjoy this:

Here's the run me and my brother have been working on for the past 3 weeks.

Segmented run of 16:09 glued together into 3 episodes.

Very nice checking out now.  Wink
Wow. I've seen your run, Pushpabon and I think it's amazing Shocked
You're faster then me in almost all the levels Tongue (except the end bosses of episode 2 and 3, there you have the same time as me :P).
And my run was on the hardest difficult, but that doesn't matter so much.
In total you're almost 10 minutes faster then me :P:P:P
Wow the first lvl run suprised me how you just jumped over the street haha. Wow that what makes these runs so fun to watch!

Blaat: You run is quite impressive too even that you die Tongue
