Hi speedrunners Smiley

It is the beginning of a Duke Nukem 3D Done Quick project. All contributions are welcome. You can find the first demos on http://kineox.free.fr/duke3d/

Of course the complete run will be released on SDA with captured videos.

Remember ! It's time to kick ass and chew bubble-gum...  Wink

Im Addicted to Games
Sounds good =) don't think i will do any of the levels though but, good idea anyway =)

More old shooters like Wolf3D, blood, blood II, HEXEN and so on submited to SDA would be cool =)
Hey Ho Let's Go
You can get kickass speeds in Hexen, but the weapons aren't that speedrunning friendly.

I might submit something for Duke3D once I've set up my old PC with Win98  Smiley
Roboticus is Champion!
I want to see a Duke Nukem Forever speed run. >_>
Two things to say :

I get 0:13 in the first level ! Yeah !

Duke3D runs on Windows XP with JonoF's port.

Thanks for your interest. Smiley

I'm addicted to games
Has anyone ever found a solution for recording DOS games under windows?  There's a an old game that goes by 'Radix' I'd love to do a run of.
Hell is where the heart is.
If you do a speedrun of a game called "Radix" people might start calling you "The Lord Of Radix" and that would just be silly...
18 to the diablo2 holy grail
hmmm win XP port .. .  Grin Grin :shoot: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :headbanger: :rocker:
Your almighty lordship
You know, if you had a laptop with an S-Video out, you can play the game on it and send the video/audio feed to your capture card and thereby solving the problem :P. Resurrect the Lord of Radix Cheesy
Hey Ho Let's Go
Two ways to play back demos. Either add them to the demo queue by renaming the files to DEMO#.DMO, where # starts from 1 and increases up to 9.

Or you can also use the /D command option :
DUKE3D /Ddemofile.DMO (make sure there's no space between the /D and the demo filename, otherwise it won't be recognised)

I've done exactly as stated above, but nothing seems to happen.

1. When are the demos supposed to play when I add them to the demo queue?

2. And I assume the /D command needs to be run from a DOS promt or from a shortcut, or am I missing something obvious?

Could you please provide me with more information? I really dig the idea of Duke3D being speedrun!
Hey Ho Let's Go
Oh, and another thing, it pisses me off you can't look up and down with the mouse in Duke, or is there a workaround to this problem?
1. Demos are supposed to be played after the introduction (duke nukem 3d screen with a duke artwork)

2. Yes, from the command prompt or with a shorcut. It doesn't work ?

You can also look up and down by enabling 'mouse aiming' in games options, or pressing U key by default.

Enjoy Duke 3D speedrun Smiley

Hey Ho Let's Go
It still doesn't work...  Sad

Come to think of it, could it be that I have the wrong version of Duke3D? It's a copy I've had almost since it came out. If it indeed proves to be the wrong version, could I ask one of you guys to provide me with an url where I can download the right one?

I use the 1.3d version with JonoF's port...

You can download Duke3D (in english) and others old games (french or english) on a french abandonware site : http://www.abandonware-france.org/

(if my post contains some illegal stuff, don't hesitate to delete it)
Hey Ho Let's Go
Thanks, I'll try and fiddle around with both versions and see if any of them works.

I installed it and Jono's port, but all I get when I start up is the green background, no demo at all, even though there are demos in the directory.
Did you try the /D command ?

DUKE3D /Ddemofile.DMO
A Crab
Yeah, that didn't work either.
I don't understand why it doesn't work... What is your OS ?
A Crab
XP SP2.  Also, when making avis you really should include the sound, using a sound capture program like audacity.
if anyone knows where I can get a copy of the game i would LOVE to play it (it's been YEARS since I had it on my computer)

even better, I dont suppose there's any way to play a game like that on mac OS X?
RandomEngy > I will add sound to the video, no problem

Connor > You can get Duke Nukem 3D on the abandonware site I linked on page 1
To use it on Mac OSX you shoud read these pages :

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Is there a way to get rid of the inverted mouselook?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Btw, I can record and play back my own demos fine, but I cannot see any of the demos recorded on the webpage. Kineox and Adm Bobs demos. I am using the latest JonoF duke (2004 10/13 build), and I'm guessing the runs by Kineox and Adm Bob are recorded on an earlier build. If mouselook was like in Quake, I'd be good to go for recording, but I cant run with inverted mouse. There's probably some easy way to fix it, but I cant find it.
