I'm sure a private thread will show up soon (maybe after the March, 1st drop deadline) because it's just the easiest way to get everything squared away.

I will know by Sunday evening if I will be attending or not. I have a pool tournament on saturday and another on Sunday and if I happen to win either one of them, I win a trip to Vegas for Singles Nationals and the tournament is May 1st through 3rd I believe.  If I don't win either one then I will be confirmed as going and will let you know Sunday night when I get home.

Is there a final(ish) price for how much we'll have to pay to cover the streaming room? Last I heard was an estimate. At this point I think the only realistic way I'm making it to C4L is with a donation stream. I can probably pull together enough money, but knowing how much I"m shooting for would be immensely helpful.
We've raised 1/4 of the total cost of the ballroom plus adjacent rooms, with the heavyweight contributors yet to be added. Our goal is naturally 100% subsidized, but for the sake of having a worst-case, total cost based on quad occupancy would be $38.50 per night, plus ~$150 for the ballroom + practice area. That $150 should be eliminated within the month.

We've had multiple meals expensed, including breakfast daily.

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the extended absence.  As people who know me are aware, I've been doing some relatively big stuff lately Smiley  I'm trying to get my feet back on the ground in Vancouver.

First off, thank you very much to puwexil for looking after the thread while I've been away.  It hasn't blown up.  Well done Smiley

As Driscollad mentioned, we've been going nuts on trying to get sponsorship and media attention.  JDRF has CC'ed our sponsorship package to every JDRF in the world.  We haven't got as much sponsorship as we hoped, but we did get some to bring costs down, and we're continuing our attempts to bring them down even further.

I'll answer everyone's questions tonight -- I see quite a few have built up in my absence.

Unfortunately, Sakegeist cannot attend, so we've lost Terranigma.  I've removed it from the schedule.  We'll probably have to re-shuffle some things to get games in the proper time slots again.

The schedule is getting a little thin for five days, so to all attendees: think about whether there's a(nother) game that you could add to the schedule.  I'll give priority to people who don't already have multiple games, but we might need to flesh out the schedule here one way or another (puwexil might be on for another 26.5 hrs of games).

I'll start a private thread later tonight, after I've had a moment to breathe Smiley  I'll ask people to confirm their attendance in the private thread, because we're looking to book rooms right away.
Welcome back. And breathing is overrated

If your looking for shorter games.  FFX-2 hasn't been done yet and I can do a New Game Plus run which is pretty quick at 3 hours long. This can be done on english version since I already have Cat-Nip.  I can throw back Mystic Quest which has had a new glitch found since last years run and Any% wasn't done last year. We had 100%.

EDIT: The glitch found in Mystic Quest last year also allows itself to see other neat things done which allows it to bring in some donation incentive stuff.
Moo! Flap! Hug!
If you can commit to coming (you seemed on the fence in your last post), I'd be happy to put MQ back in. It's a really good marathon watch, despite the relative lack of donation incentives (any% vs. 100%? Or have those two times diverged quite a bit since I last saw a run?).

Pokémon Black is still on the table, but I wouldn't consider it a good add given that it is extremely similar to White 2

I can instead offer Dust: an Elysian Tail (117% with warps) at 2:10:00. This is a recent indie action RPG with a lot of interesting movement tech. 117% is the full completion category, where you must explore the entire map, complete a bunch of quests, and collect all crafting materials, among a few other things. This run is pretty low on danger, but it should be pretty fun to watch. Here's the current WR, to give you an idea of what it's like (you should be able to just skip around a bunch and get the idea): http://www.twitch.tv/naglfarnr/c/2818814 (This game might be a little bit of a stretch for the marathon, but I figured it fits in a similar niche to Crystalis.)
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Just to clarify: I've tried to be very communal in decision making (reviewers, rounds, etc.) up until now. But, given the temporal proximity to C4L 2014, decisions about games, donation incentives, etc. will be made quickly and dictatorially going forward, by either myself or puwexil. This is just the nature of getting close to the marathon.

Vulajin: I'll watch that video later tonight and see what I think. I've never heard of the game, though, so just an honest heads-up that I may prefer something else that's offered.

If I don't win either pool tournament I am in this weekend than I will confirm coming. Depends on how I do. I put the current odds of me winning either one at about 20%. Those are pretty good odds. There are about 3 of us that will most likely win it.

EDIT: The 100% time and Any% time are really close now because the 100% has an amazing PB and the Any% PB still has a bad floor Pazuzu. 100% is currently 2:40:37 I believe and Any% is 2:26:22. Both runs utilize the new glitch and the glitch can also be used to show off other cool things that you won't use in a speedrun that don't effect time too much. Those things can be donated for. I will make a list of them this weekend if I confirm going.  We will know in less than 48 hours.

Looks like Dark Cloud is back in Grin
The Wayward Wanderer
Ys 1 Chronicles+ is about a 35-40 minute run, with a few donation incentives:

Fighting the 2nd boss unable to see it. (I can do it reliably.)
Donation war for graphical setting, influences cutscenes and important NPC character portraits. (2001 Complete or 2009 Chronicles)
Donation war for audio setting, (PC-88 Original, 2001 Complete, and 2009 Chronicles)

The "invisible" boss won't take any more time to defeat, the graphic settings are set in the beginning, unable to change.  However the Audio setting can be a shifting war, as the setting can be changed anytime, so maybe before each boss, and during the grinding. (8 total)
Hi Poxnor.  I was thinking of making this picture I drew of Esper Terra http://sta.sh/01xhjjd63oa5 into a print as a prize for C4L. Do you think it would be acceptable?

Regarding my attendance at C4L. I will only be able to attend up til the afternoon of May 2nd.  In my pool tournaments this weekend, I lost the 8 ball but won my 9 ball regional for a trip to Vegas.  I will be in Vegas from May 2nd - May 5th but plan on going to Canada for the marathon from April 28th to May 2nd.  Please put my games somewhere near the beginning of the schedule and take me off any commentary of games I was on that will be happening after the 2nd.  I don't have a time estimate on what time I will be leaving yet on the 2nd since I don't have tickets but I am planning to leave somewhere between 10am and 4pm local time if I can find a flight in that time range.
Everything is good besides CC commentary, which will still have 2 commentators plus the very capable Raelcun, schedule should still be fine. And congrats

Poxnor was thinking of adding MQ in, so that would have to fit into 1 of the slots before the 2nd. Not sure if there was a game in there that dropped and was able to fit right in or not since I don't know what games are being missed.
Thank you Highspirts ^^

Speaking of Mystic Quest: For Estimates I'd say put 3:15:00 It gives it plenty of time plus time to show the cool glitches if donated for. The list of ones I could show would be.

Shoulder Shrug
Dance-Pose
Wave Goodbye
Question Mark
Invisible Bombs <--actually useful

The Question Mark one would be the only one I would have to show after the run (i.e. do a save at the spot where I can show it off and then come back after I beat the game to do the glitch, since I need the bombs for that area) Others can be done during the run and not sure if you want to show them off individually or as a group package.

Also Character Name is 8 letters

I will come up with some donation incentives for Suikoden by the end of the week.

We require more minerals
So I had the brainwave that I could do the feed 100 dragons minigame as a donation incentive.

It'd take practice, but it's been brought up to me several times since most people who did this in their casual playthroughs had to use the slowdown feature on New Game+ to do it. It'd take 2-3 minutes to do probably.

Also all character names for CC are 6 characters.

I live in Leduc so I'd love to come hang out and watch if at all possible. I'll probably only be there for a day or so so I won't be too big of an annoyance.

I know a few other people who live in the area who wanted to stop by at some point, I"m not sure for how long they'd want to come by and watch. One of them was an old co-caster of mine who lives in Edmonton. How would visitors and stuff for people who are in the area but don't want to stop by for the entire thing work?

Donation Incentive Ideas for Suikoden:

108 Star Run (Hoping this gets met so recommend not too high of a donation goal)

Naming Tir McDohl (will be known in game as xxx McDohl) - 8 Character Limit
Naming Liberation Army Castle - 8 Character Limit

Possibly Re-enacting the Tir/Teo 1V1 Duel Battle (I asked MetaSigma if he might have been interested in playing one of the parts) Seems like he would make a good Teo, would still need someone to play the part of the Hero(Tir). All it really is, just reading some lines on screen in your best fighting voices and then some fake sword play.

Donation Incentive for 6th Character on Final Dungeon. (Currently only available on 108 star run) (Donation Incentive for the viewers to pick their favorite playable character to join as the last character in the party as I traverse Gregminster and defeat the final Boss.  I have a list of possible characters they can choose from as well.

If anyone else has ideas. Please feel free to throw them out there so I can try/test them out to see if they would be 1) good watch and 2) worthwhile.
