I don't have the version # right now because when I tried to roll back to a previous patch it broke my game, but that is the version my friends computer is running the game on.
I feel like we have pretty good momentum on the skip running into this weekend. Hopefully somebody can get it figured out...I'll be working the next 2 days so I won't be doing attempts myself, but I'll be keeping up with these posts. Good luck!
I'll record around an hours worth of tries this weekend so I can show everyone how stupid easy it is on my friends computer. I really wish I knew what was making it so easy
Did my last offstream run today with a PB of 2:37:08 on PS3. I had a horrid Factory Skip, had to do Downtown Emporia twice, then got IDG during Comstock Gate skip resulting in restarting yet AGAIN at Downtown Emporia. I also suicided too far at the gate before the downtown fight. All in all, I probably lost 20 minutes through imprecise play.
But I got the Comstock Gate skip on the first try after the first IDG and wham, 3 minutes ahead of PB. This skip is absurd.
For the hell of it I did a run today...even got the HR hat on the first drop (HYPE!) but failed the Comstock Gate skip terribly (besides the fact I don't actually competitively run this game)......needless to say, this skip is a bitch. I'll do more attempts on it tomorrow, but tonight I drown it all for St. Patty. Cheers.
Edit: PS, I just found out RealLink discovered the DLC glitch that helped me get the WR on the Episode 1 DLC, thanks M8.
BTW, talking about something else than this skip, I've got 2 questions (that may have been answered previously) :
1) Where do you drop the HR hat ? I've basically never gotten it in any run, so is there a specific spot where you get more chance to drop it ? And do you farm it in your runs ?
2) Is there a video of the WR for the 1st DLC ? I might try to run it a few times before the release of the 2nd one.
This is not humble brags. I legitimately do feel guilty. I cannot wait to get my stream up and running in a month or so so that I can help with this skip. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe Smasher419 can give it a few tries on PS3 and we can see if it favors the platform for some reason, but I've had really good fortune in getting it relatively often. The only thing I know to do is die in the middle of the gate and sort of "hang" there as long as possible while the Game Over white out happens.

If you're going for the HRH run, you have a couple shots at it in the same room you do the "jump coin" trick. It's when Liz is throwing you a coin for the first time and you get the little tutorial box. There's a gear drop in the room straight ahead and Mr. Flambeau has a gear for you immediately after. This all takes place right after the bird/cage decision for Liz's necklace, but before the "In a bit of a rush pal" Draw Weapon scene when you first shoot people in front of Liz.
As far as we can tell it's a pretty rare drop. (2-3%) Going for it is largely a matter of taste and goals.
There are basically two camps: 1.) Do lots of resets if you don't get the gear because you're really grinding for the God Tier WR run and 2.) Don't bother getting gears at all because you're just trying to do a normal self-competing consistent runs for a strong relatively optimal PB. I think you can restart checkpoint about 5 or 6 times before you were better off not going for the gear at all which is a little low % for me to want to do. But it's necessary if you're going for the all-time unbeatable run (like FearfulFerret tends to do.)
So to sum up, it's really about what your goals are with running the game.
I'm not into competitive running, I just run for my own pleasure. Even if I wanted to, with my old computer, just the loading times would make me fail. And my internet connection sucks so much that I can't even stream my runs.
I'd like to practice that skip though, and to do that I have to grind it. I just had no idea what the best place was for that, so thanks.
Vanger, as far as I know, I have the WR for the DLC 1 run. I'll link the twitch VOD. My mic broke before this run so not much commentary. Lemme know if you need to know anything, more than happy to help. http://www.twitch.tv/stoic__squirrel/c/3804934
Thanks for the link, actually I just found it on your twitch channel . I'll try to figure out the skips by watching your vids, and send you private messages if I can't make it work on my own.
I've used your videos as a reference and tried a run myself and got a time of 26:25:39 which is ok for a first try.
I lost a bit of time because of 3 things though: - my battles are really sloppy - the Old Man Winter skip is completely random for me, sometimes I get it right away, sometimes I have to try for 30s+ to get it (took me 15s in this run). - the room with the locked door (the one where you boost Elizabeth in a vent) : I've practiced that part and each time the ennemies get in and I have to kill them before Elizabeth opens the door. I put the trap at the top door like you do, but each time Booker goes "What's taking so long?" and I end up in combat against 2 icemen. What am I doing wrong ?
Vanger, yea, those fights take a few tries to get down properly. The OMW skip isn't very consistent for me either. In the WR video it took about 5 jumps which is really fast but I haven't been able to replicate it that well since then. As far as the locked room fight I might have to go back and look...just make sure the trap is in the middle of the door but just inside the room you are going into. Every once in awhile it won't work and I'll have to engage in the extra fights as well. If you have extra Eve at that point I suggest throwing a second trap up onto the platform to cover yourself.

I'd just like to note that for SDA: 1) Loading times don't matter, as SDA doesn't count them. 2) You only need to be able to record. Stream quality is too low for SDA submission anyway.
I fully get that you're not into competitive running, but your computer or internet connection aren't a problem, should you decide otherwise.
Hey, I just started learning the game and I might have found something At the moment its kind of useless but I thought if it wasn't known others could test it. Basically if you go backwards from the graveyard skip (basically falling underneath the graveyard) you will land in the bank map. The problem is that enemies don't spawn and from my understanding you need to kill the crow guy to trigger the tear. But even with this you can death warp to the middle which might (though I highly doubt it) be faster then walking round. Again I'm sorry if this is already known, as I suspect it is, but it hadn't been mentioned in things I'd watched and I didn't want to read 38 pages.
I just realized what I was talking about was particularly to do with the gate skip. Meaning it might be possible from graveyard skip without the 2 suicides. Could someone tell me whereabouts in the bank your jumping from. I can sort of explain how the skip works too if it hasn't been yet (kind of assume it has, also minus the infinite suicide though I have an idea why it happens). edit: did not work how I thought
Well I got 2:08:21 with a perfect Comstock Gate skip, except I still waited for the checkpoint. I did however manage to lose most of the time I saved off that, missing Emporia skip twice, getting a glitch that wouldn't let me press a button and missing the HoH suicide. Pretty terrible run in general, but I got the god skip first try so I'm gonna upload it today just to show my setup, it's pretty consistent and I get it first try in runs about 90% of the time.
EDIT: Worst run I've done in a while but Comstock Gate skip made up for most of it
