Metal Gear Rising Speedrunner
(The title is a reference to the trailers)

I'm just going to go ahead and make this thread for people who will be interested in doing some Bioshock Infinite runs. Surprisingly, I got my copy a day early so I'll be playing it through and checking this out along the way. Interestingly, I've already encountered a glitch that might very will be a game-breaking bug if we find out other places we can do it. Another thing we'll have to figure out is if it's possible to clip inside or go maybe be teleported if you jump off from a distance.

OUT OF BOUNDS GLITCH:

RAFFLE SKIP(Saves quite a few minutes):
Thread title:
Stalker!
i highly recommend to move this to the pc section. In the first 2 bioshocks there was plenty of stuff you werent able to pull of on a gamepad.
Im actually very interested in doing this run. Picking up my game tommorrow and will be checking out possible routes

Indeed, but that's different now. This is a whole new engine, Bioshock 1 + 2 were both done on UE2.X(Their custom version). Bioshock Infinite was redone in UE3, so it's different. We'll just have to wait and see what kind of things are possible.

EDIT: WOW, I ALREADY FOUND A BIG SKIP AT THE START!

You basically skip the raffle part, and go straight into the next part. I think it may save 5-10 minutes for such a simple, easy glitch. Here is the video:

Pretty awesome stuff, grabbing my copy tomorrow so I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread.

Found a way to do the Raffle Skip earlier in the game.

Here is the video:

If I think a glitch can be used in a speedrun, I will upload it as soon as I can. If I think it is useless, I will upload it with another glitches in a single video.

Let's break this game!

Wow, two breaks already in the same area. I found the "basic" one, you found the "hardcore skip" one. This seems to be an easy game to break. lol

Okay, so how do you get a skyhook if you skip the raffle?  Does the game just give it to you?

Yes, you have it right when you start the game, they just disable it on the earlier maps so you don't use it. Once you move into a map which you are allowed to use it, it enables it for use.
Yes, the game gives it to us. You will not have a gun but no problem. You can run through the fights until the next weapon you can take.

Cool to see major skips already. I'll definitely be spending a lot of time exploring this game.
Didn't play a lot today. I will upload an "infinite fall" tomorrow with some others things too. Useless things to put it in a nutshell.
The Rest Will Flow
I will probably be keeping tabs on this run and participate a bit. Got my copy yesterday and was thinking about making this thread until I saw this. Definitely interested in running this. Awesome glitches so far!

People should, this game is awesome and would bring more attention to this game. I've been playing the game quite a little while now and haven't found anything that breaks the game more. I've only found some things that let you see outside the map, but does not allow you because of an extremely high invisible wall. The rest of the game feels pretty solid, so hopefully someone else finds something.

Here's something kinda cool for PC that I found on reddit:

I don't have a frictionless mouse myself, so I can't test it, but maybe it could let you clip through walls/etc easier? Will probably be patched though, which is unfortunate.

I don't think that has the ability to actually get your collision to get inside a wall. It's more of just the camera moving and not the player itself. Unless someone can test it to see if you can even move inside a wall of some sort. The only reason the camera clipping worked so well in Dishonored was the teleportation power, which sadly there is no plasmid for. Sad
Please, NO clip through walls everywhere. I didn't even finish Dishonored because of that. It broke everything.
I would also recommend this be moved to the pc section, Ussually the console section is for games that are either exclusive to console or are superior on console than pc. I dont think this game falls into either of those categories

I don't have a good enough PC to run this game, which is why I put it under this section. From the look of things, this game has glitches that can be done on both sides, so it's not really a big different unless something major was found only on PC. Again, it probably won't because the Xbox 360 and PC versions are the same game, unlike Bioshock 1 and 2 which had custom versions of UE2. All the values are the same on all consoles.
I quickly made a rough route for this game yesterday, and then tried a run today.  3:32:36 was the final time at credit roll.  It's something to work from at least.  I'm going to need to redo my notes, but I'll post them here if anyone is interested.  Very fun game Smiley

Spoilers:
Also, I kind of feel like the game is over after the last fight (last bird call), since the epilogue isn't really game play (and it's 14 minutes long).

Yes Bioshock 1&2 are using a heavily modified UE2 engine, which is almost the same with the first UE3 engine versions. Just that the engine version numbers are different doesnt mean that are huge changes in the gamecode. Its the opposite. They will take it and optimize for the gameplay. The engine is not a big problem, they are downward compatible.

Sloth has the most important point. On a gamepad you dont have the accuracy as on a PC with mouse and keyboard. No matter how hard you try you are always faster on the PC. This also you gives you an advantage when it comes to glitches.

try to replicate some stuff which was use in the bioshock 1 run from bloodthunder, for example the fort frolic skip (which is more then major).
You'll have quiet a lot of trouble.

Again, comparing the earlier Bioshock game is like comparing Halo to Call of Duty. Of course there is a lot of differences, it doesn't feel like they kept a single piece of code from the other Bioshock games. They even said they had to re-do majority of everything. The code will of course will be different, UE3 has a lot of changes to how it handles things, and even add more onto it. A slight change to any engine is a big change to everything. Going through the game code, you'll see that there is just so much new things, they haven't even kept the same movement code from the other Bioshock games. This is a whole new thing, and you can not look at the older Bioshock games now.

I do agree, PC will always have faster aiming, but there isn't a single glitch that has come out which makes it better or worse to play on PC or Xbox. The only reason people stay away from the other Bioshock games on PC is because the movement is completely screwed up. Moving backwards is slower on Xbox, but on PC it is completely different. This isn't an issue with Bioshock Infinite, so I see no reason why it should be moved when there isn't a big reason to switch in the first place. I say it should stay where it is until something is found that requires a PC.

EDIT: Back on topic: Just to note for everyone, jumping and then crouching does indeed give you more height.
Gets the cake.

Not to barge in, considering I don't even own this game, but it doesn't matter if there are glitches that can/can't be done on the separate platforms, PC simply will be faster due to better aiming, smoother movement, having more hotkeys available, etc.

That said, the location of the thread is totally arbitrary, and I don't see why anybody cares either way.

I was just wondering about this.  This is good to know.

I found some more useless oob areas in Emporia, but one of them is interesting.  I can almost land inside of the bank vault, but it's just slightly too far.

Here is the other one at the start of Emporia embarassed

Although I can't find a use for these, maybe one of you can.
Kwanzai, on what difficulty did you do your run?

On a side note, hey there, fellas, I'm fairly new to speedrunning, but not to gaming. I've been on a speed-freak high since the last AGDQ, and now that I have a great game like Bioshock Infinite, I wanted to run it into the ground with some game-breaking tricks. I'll be keeping tabs and updating this post as I try new stuff. Nothing to report at the moment except a pretty rough first run on Hard about half an hour over Kwanzai not using any of the tricks listed here yet.
