Oh I didn't even know there was one in there
Congrats on the sub2hr WR Chadbro.  I'm really glad you used that version of the factory skip, I think it is much faster and more reliable than the Elizabeth manipulation, not to mention the swag.  Also, good recovery on the Comstock Gate.  I'm fairly certain the geography of the area influences the skip a great deal...I almost wonder if the different levels have their own spawn zones.  Also, tried the setup on the left side of the square and it doesn't seem to work.  Heh.

Quote from teliot:
What part of that requires hill runner's hat? I just keep respawning in front of the gate without it.

If the skip is based on manipulating spawn points and timers...the HRH may move you fast enough that the game doesn't register a spawn point until you die, or running from the stairs to the suicide spot is exactly inside one time interval.
I might have found a way to do the Comstock Gate Skip reliably without HRH. Using HRH is faster and probably more consistent, but this could be useful for a gearless run. I uploaded a video that shows what worked for me. It's kind of based on the skip Stoic_Squirrel found. This worked for me three times consecutively. Maybe I was just really lucky though.
Damn looks promising.  That pretty much makes the run possible for people who don't want to grind HRH.  Great job man, we've been trying to find that shit for so long
Good find DumDumDugan...we did tests like that using the old method but I feel the new jumping off point makes everything more reliable. (I tried the stair method with the old 2nd suicide and it doesn't work)  I wouldn't be surprised if a few new approaches are possible :-)  If I get time later I might test some things but I feel like actually completing a run of the game now that the skip is consistent.
RIP in peace everyones PBs

As a side note, does everyone know that you can get out of the lift that comstock says "it always ends in blood" a little early?  It seems that if you jump on the railing the game thinks you have hit the top sooner and opens faster.  Sometimes I can make it all the way to where the ship spawns before bookers nose bleeds.
So thats how it works. I've done it once before but could never recreate it. Is ship is scriped to go over there once Comstock has finished speaking or does it come early when you are already there?
It comes early.  And I've done some testing with your boost on the skyline and it's not super precise.  You just have to land on the back 1/4th of the shipping box and it launches you so fast.  Definitely saves at least 5 seconds.

Alright so after 10 runs and 0 Hill Runners I think we have to either make it its own category, or find some way to make it spawn everytime

I could play around with some RNG manipulation in that area I guess...no idea how it would work.  I'm not sure about making it it's own category though, it would have to be a gearless category.  But man, five hours of runs?  That stings.

Finally did a complete run of the game for the first time ever...it was a pretty pathetic 2:34.13.  I have most of the skips down (could work on turret skip and cabin skip...), but it's really just getting all of the fights down and the actual routes. It took me a full 20 minutes from Cabin Skip to SongBird destroying the tower... Roll Eyes

Edit: Just replayed from Emporia Skip to the end of the final fight and shaved 20 minutes off my theoretical PB, those were some terrible splits, heh.
I've been dicking around in cheat engine for a few hours and I got nothing.  I don't speedrun any other games so I don't know if there's rules against stuff like this, so if its not allowed I'll just stop because its kinda pointless.

The final fight is really annoying and is probably the hardest fight in the game to do quickly and efficiently, it pretty much relies on eliz being useful and throwing you things you need.
Updated the doc for the new stuff found. I think what I want to do is send out invites to some of you guys. This way the doc can be updated without waiting for me to show up.

If anyone wants permission to edit the doc, you can post your gmail here or send it over to me at paranoiaxssr@gmail.com, let me know who you are if you email it to me.

It's allowed to use cheat engine to do whatever you like during testing, but you can't use it during runs or modify the game files for runs.
Pretty sure it's out of my abilities to do anyway.  Back to grinding
New WR, 1:57:57. HRH took 3 minutes and I messed up in a few moderately bad ways, including a terrible final fight. Felt good.

Damn, I was hoping my poop run would stand for a more than a few days
I give up.  How do you open the lift early during the "It always ends in blood" speech.
I have no idea, usually I jump on the railing the entire time.  It works like 50% of the time.

Heres one where I got out really early
I think I found an alternate way to get aboard the first zeppelin after the "It always ends in blood speech."  You skip using the firetrap and skyline bash the first guy as usual, but then you run off the wing, stop in place and shoot the guy that runs out, then you can freely run into the zeppelin and activate the door without spawning the other guys.  I've done it about 4 times now and it seems consistent. If you clear the room perfectly using the current method this method doesn't save time, but it seems pretty safe and uses less resources.

I don't mean to make things too awkward for everyone, but I'm in love with DumDumDugan.

On PS3, there are really obvious loads where the game creates new areas/unloads old ones. I don't think the PC guys get to see them and if they do, it isn't often.

I'm pretty sure the Comstock Gate skip hinders on the tree in the right corner. The PS3 version very obviously loads a new area when you do the quick tree lap. The new area is probably the flag that makes the skip possible. If I had to guess on why it wasn't reliable before, I'd say that jumping/landing at a certain moment could load the new area before you died and that's why sporadic successes were happening. We were occasionally just "not dead" long enough for the game to load the new area.

Speculation a bit as I'm still messing with Dugan's hot new tech, but that loading zone around the tree is really suspect.
I can't get the Dismount prompt anymore to skip the Zeppelin fight after The Factory Skip. No patches have happened. dafuq?

It's been patched since the release of Burial at sea episode 2. The new way is simply to suicide jump through the gate, you will respawn instantly (no respawn animation) behind the gate and will be able to proceed as usual.
Thank you so much! I've been MIA in terms of the DLC news.
Just found out recently that Console WR has been broken (RIP My old one) by SerSanju with 2:13:49. Congrats to him and here's the video for you (few) console runners. Implements HRH with console!  http://www.twitch.tv/sersanju/c/4311476
You'll always be #1 in my heart Smasher. I don't want to get into category nonsense because there aren't many console runners and honestly, as one of them, I really don't care, but for what it's worth, I'll be leaving Smasher's "WR" up on my channel as a non-HRH best console time just because I think they're pretty different things, just like the two consoles are pretty different things.

But yeah! Congrats to SerSanju and to the patience that doing an HRH console run must have required! *hat tip*

Turned an unrecorded, but streamed PS3 no HRH run tonight at 2:23:30. Technically, it's the fastest PS3 run, but Smasher did his 2:28:53 without the Comstock Gate skip. Pretty much speaks to how insanely good his run was.

EDIT: OBS was recording. Lookie there. I have it in my pocket for proof, but honestly by the time I upload the stupid thing, Smasher will have already taken it back so whatever. If the Categories Nobody Cares About Police Want to call me out, I have the vid.
