About the F/M/T: Although I admit that the possibilities for cheese are almost boundless for a combined thief and mage class, the sorcerer is more versatile with his spells, and, frankly, later on his ability to produce cheesy tactics are even greater. I also checked the beginning stats for a F/M/T. He starts with four level 1 spell slots, 2 level 2 spell slots and 1 level 3 slot. You get to pick 7, 6, and 5 spells for those spell levels at the beginning. Having to sleep after every Haste you cast is not very convenient.

About the backstabbing: you get the x5 backstab multiplier at thief level 14. A F/M/T has level 11/12/14 at the experience cap of BG2. On a speed run, it is highly likely that he won't even reach the experience cap. And if you're talking damage, a level 17 sorc can cast a Projected Image and start summoning. Five or six hasted Skeleton Warriors can dish out a lot of damage.

With respect to possible cheese, it's almost a shame Damurdoc won't do ToB. Because the combination of Improved Alacrity with Projected Image, possibly Time Stop and of course the Robe of Vecna + Amulet of Power... Ah, the possibilities of a sorcerer always make feel warm inside Smiley

A quick question about your run Damurdoc: You say that you don't need the Stinking Cloud, but surely you can find a use for something like Resist Fear? And do you kill off the portals in Irenicus' dungeon for the experience, or is it something that needs to be done? Because it seems faster to me to just run past them, possibly with Invisibility on to avoid unwanted attention.

Oh, and a quick note on your videos, you should compress the audio stream as well. Shave off a few MB in the process.

Great post, Compressing the audio hm... il check it out, im good with photoshop, but Im a newb with videos.

I won't use any summons to kill the dragons.

If i do a TOB run, it will be from the new story in the actual expansion, that means i will start a character from scratch (no-import) in the new story, THAT will be an idea.

What does stinking could and resist fear have to do with anything, im not sure what you mean.

I'm wondering if you can put Tenser's Transformation + Improved Haste + Shapechange (Illithid) to work. Like, against Irenicus Mk 40000 maybe? Tongue

You're probably not high level enough to get any useful summons against the dragon in the Underdark. I'm not sure what would work best against that one, although I'm sure you do have a pretty good idea about that.

Normally, I'd start with Timestop, Improved Alactrity, 3x Lower Resist, Greater Malison, and all the Abi Dalzim's I can summon. Though that is certainly not a viable option for you, since you don't have access to level 9 spells, and probably at that stage not even level 8 spells (you get your first level 8 spell at level 15).

I mean that you mentioned in a previous post that you chose Stinking Cloud, because there wasn't anything useful anyway. Well, you could (not sure if you can still cast spells after a Tenser's, though), but for this speed run it is probably out of the question, since you don't have access to level 9 spells below the BG2 experience cap. Unless you can find a scroll of Shape Change in Seldarin. Not entirely certain on that. I know there is a scroll of Time Stop and one of Meteor. (Project Image, Improved Haste, Time Stop from Scroll, Shape Change from scroll and hack away at Irenicus, that'd be nice :))

I mean that you mentioned in a previous post that you chose Stinking Cloud, because there wasn't anything useful anyway. I'm not going to kill the silver dragon, it doesnt give me anything special.

I got other tools to kill em. Dragons are not the problem, The last fight with Irenicus will be interesting.

Without problems are big words, Im not sure myself how i'm supposed to kill some creatures... I'l see if it's possible First. (I didnt even finish TOB... but I guess finishing it would be a start, but im busy now :D)

Ribald sells scrolls of Shapechange. Maybe he's too far out of the way, but I'm not seeing an easy way out of the last Irenicus (with uber spell resistance and what not). Unless Tenser's + Slayer = uber death...

Alright il host mansion to irenicus, and the new videos tonight, and the links will be there tomorrow.

(I finished from chap 0-5 From the start of the game to Just after coming out of the tunnel, is 58 minutes 8 segments about 7.25 minute a video. This means i will probably finish the game in half an hour, which mean my run will be 1:30.... Lets see the conclusion!)

Well I wouldn't say that. Not from the start at least, you would have to lvl a bit first.

You're probably right. I forgot that the times when I played with a solo sorcerer, I had already reached the ToB experience cap before finishing BG2. So some leveling probably would be in order.

Oh, and Damurdoc: you needn't post with such a humongous fontsize, we'll read your posts anyway.

hehe nice.. i got a question on bg2 speedrunning... after watching the bg1 run (40min) i thought about making a bg2 run myself... i thought of fighter/thief and started.. worked quite well but i have no idea on how to kill Dace the vampire in bodhi's dungeon.. i got a scimitar +2 at that point but i cant harm him with that.. any suggestions?

You need a weapon of at least +3 to hurt him.

Also, you might consider compressing the audio and a smaller compression for the video. I'm looking at 284 kbps video with 1411 kbps audio...
