What?

I'm not saying it is that trigger (It wouldn't be impossible for some other slow to be bugged and/or causing an issue!), but either way you should be able to see where the problem is by running with the debug mode player info on if you are still having issues with the slow.

Funny thing happened today and you guys might get a laugh out of it too, so I thought I'd share: Attempting the barrel-trick in the storage, I got a hold of the barrel while it was turned by 90°. Assuming that I had no time to change the setup, I tried the trick anyways. This was a failure. The barrel exploded and I ducked into cover between some of the rocks, opening the menu to quit, but then I thought "I will let myself be killed by this guy, since this is my last run for today and I f'd up, so this serves me right."

Thus I got back in to the game, quickly changing my mind once again and opening the menu once more. What I saw then made me go in game again.

To not spoil the surprise: I was capturing the run and cut this section out for you guys. Sorry about the video quality, I scale the video down while recording and only capture with 10 fps, or else I get massive drops in game (playing on an old notebook with lowest details; still have load times of nearly 8 minutes during runs and drop frames everytime stuff happens on screen). Also, since I did not think I would show the video to people, I just captured the whole screen, not only the game.

That was very entertaining to watch but like you said it might be very much impossible to recreate it without a barrel. You can't afford to get hit by the grunt at any point in the run.

I didn't run the game in months now, but one question began bugging me today: I seem to drop a few frames (up to 10) whenever stuff happens in the game. Do I lose time through that and if, how much would maybe accumulate over a run? Before I stopped running (real life stuff always ruining the fun Wink

) I felt like I was hitting a wall I am not really capable of breaching at around 29 min, even in "no-major-mistake"-runs and while I felt like I kept up really good pace.

I only recorded a few runs one day a few months back and realized that I just could not do it (not a very good laptop). Recording was only possible with 12 fps and realtively bad quality, so... No full runs I could show. Sad

You could take a look at the run I posted. It should have most of the updated strats and you just need to ignore the save warping. Besides that there's nothing much I can tell you :/

Anyone know of a way to clip out of bounds in storage from inside the room where you pick up the blue and red rods?

One of the pillars shows promise, but I can't get it to ping. I have found a way to get OOB and skip 2 of the flashback triggers and breaking down the stones by using a shovel so people (like me) who dont use segmented runs (and like the shovel trick) can get out of bounds easier, and I found a way to ping myself back into bounds at the rods so you dont have to make that risky jump as seen in Apjjm's segmented run.

If only there was just a way back out....

What?

So, as far as I know there are three ways OOB in that area.

1) Using a wall near the staircase (Pretty sure this is an old clip but i couldn't find a video of it)
2) Using the carpet method on any of the walls (This can also be done on a few walls inside the rod room near the tinderbox)
3) Bringing some other prop with you and using that

I don't think 1 & 2 are uploaded on youtube (i may be wrong!) so i made a quick video of them:

I don't think the carpet method will be particularly useful for your scenario, but it is a cool glitch and deserves to be on youtube imo.

Thanks Apjjm! After you posted that I tried out the OOB trick using the staircase and it works under the constraints of being chased pretty well.

I quickly threw together a Proof of Concept of my route. Its far from faster than the segmented run and probably (actually I'd say almost without a doubt) slower than the barrel trick, but I haven't gotten a clean run of it yet. The only reason someone would do it this way is because it might just look cooler.

The saves I used were purely to make it easier to edit if I screwed up. This isn't supposed to be a video showing the ideal run of the route, but rather that it can be done. Ive only been running this game for about a week, so the boosts are hard for me. I will say though, the placement of the shovel here is rather forgiving.

I had an idea to kill the Kaernk in Cellar Archives by clipping him through the floor with a box. This should save the 1 or 2 seconds it takes for him to start eating the meat.

The setup I use for it is surprisingly easy.
-Grab box.
-Look directly at the splashes in the water.
-Aim the box as far down as possible so its as close to Daniel as it can be.
-Throw the box as soon as the Kaernk attacks.

Here's a Nave 1 route I was testing out today. It makes use of a laud and can save around 10 seconds.

Its essentially Apjjm's segmented route with a safer clip OOB, but I think this is a nice balance of safety and speed.

How are you doing this clip? I've tried it over and over and I either just don't clip through or I just fall off the beam.
