Well done chillout. Looks like it has been a hard segment, and I'm happy that the run is advancing again. I played this game a bit before, and I'd be pleased to see it entirely. So, good luck for the rest of the run !

Seg 10 done.
I pulled off a fairly good run early in my attempts. Later realising i did something that isnt necessary.. killing an enemy that i could just walk around. (Room with the big steel balls)
Ive rerunned the segment trying to beat the time, but havent been able to do it. Getting a good time pretty much comes down to the random Water boss, in which the early attempt the fight went pretty well.

If you checked the first page, you'd see he has 15 segments planned.

Im sorry for the misleading information, but 15 is not the last segment. (I have just added segments as i go, sorry)
There will be around 30 segments as total. I havent segment planned the last part of the game because i want to keep that part loosely.

But i can tell you, Im happy if i get a time sub 7 hours.

Oh, alright then. Seemed a little short on segments :). I haven't played this game in forever. Seven hours seems a little long, but I guess it really has been a long while.

7 hours? shittttt. when i played it I was at this grave where i had to speak with blue ghost, white ghost etc... and i needed 2 hours... so finally i would need more than 20 hours. really interested in this game!! thanks that there is finally someone who is doing a speedrun of this game.

I have just found this thread and was wondering if any of the runs are still going on as I would love to see this, I got as far as the final battle just couldn't defeat the final boss however it does seem as though I missed a lot of things. Now I want to play this again.

i am also waiting, i cant play it because my ps is broken =(.. there was a guy who planned to do it, but probably didnt finish it. i think that now nobody is trying to speedrun that game... too bad!

Awesome, some possible improvement (little) but worthy of SDA imo. Thanks for this link. Now waiting for a 100% TAS (roulette >_<)

Unfortunately, this run won't ever be on SDA as the runner played on emulator, and doesn't have a recording setup.

Yeh i recently discovered eternalNostalgia's run too. It's really solid except for some mistakes later on.

Currently working on a run of this myself, so far sat at around an hour and half for the first segment (Start of game to End of Lars Crypt, longer than your first segment since I decided my ones differently).

Need more practice to tweak it so far though, I have speed kill strats for both gelatinoid and ancient golem, the golems saving a ton of time while the first requires more luck than anything.

Planning a Cave Story

First I apologize for the necrobump, but after discussing it with pj, I felt I must chime in with my strat for alundra. Through whatever circumstances aligned, I've found if you beat soul reaver then hot swap disks over to alundra, alundras ending will. Sure it might be weird to have an alundra run with soul reaver gameplay, but hey, thats pro strats in action.
