Ok, here's an update on the emu run, having finished the Shrine and talked to/got shouted at by Giles.

That Shrine is LONG. I also picked up a Magic Elixyr and Wonder Medicine on the way there, I'm sure they'll come in handy. On the way back from the palace I grabbed 120 Guilder from chests which are vaguely hidden, which we may need for something. Life Vessel? Better armour? The next bit is the cave on the coast...

Oh, I also found a few minor ways to not-entirely-do-puzzles-like-you-are-meant-to in the Shrine. Which is good, because some of those are REALLY annoying.
The weirdo all around you.
Yeah yeah. Rub it in will ya :p Just cause you got an emu and don't got flooding and stuff...sunny today though :p

But you'll have to share those tips with me...just not while we're talking. I can't like hear and actually do it without someone seeing it as well or something.

....Giles is a *muttermutter*

Yeah I picked all that up on the way there... I used the Guilder to pick up the life vessel. Notes....

LIfe Vessel at Lurvys: 400 Guilder
Armor *needed for Ancient Shrine*: 180 Guilder
Also found a Strength Elixyr in the well, which I didn't use in the Shrine, but still have.
Need altogether by that point: 580--would stick with 600 so you can stock up on Herbs perhaps?

Coast Cave is hard, but there's an item you need in there. And I'm doing this on memory to see what I know and such, so my time might be longer then yours.
Its the lava boots, so you are able to walk on lava.
Without the boots it burns and you loose like 1-2 life points each 3 seconds. So you can make it around, but its a risk.

I was thinking of only taking the life vessels that comes easily in your path.

Yeah, ive seen the death limit 16 too, but i tried it out, and i needed to die about 21 times. And it doesnt matter if its before or after the recieving the power glove. You only need the glove to remove the stone to get to the king snow statue.

I think not taking Any falcon guilded would be the best.
If you want many of them it takes too much time.
I think you need 15 for a life vessel. Not sure..

Is is worth opening the travel portals ?

What kind of tricks did you find at the shrine ?

Ive noticed one trick in the game, if there are two buttons close to eachother on the floor that needs simultaneous pressure. You can walk very fast between them and succeed the simultaneous pressure.
I think this can be done in the Ancient Shrine and at Nirude.

Myself is having troubles to be able to play. I have work and my cousins are visiting us right now for a week.
I think this monday i could start some serious Alundra gaming. Smiley

Good lucks with the floods, i hope it works out ok.
W3WT!
I used to play this game a fair bit but isn't there a dream that you can get permenently stuck in and have to start over again? as for the lengendary sword I remember it was 16 deaths with the power gloves, then again it was ages ago since I've played the first. The second just began to suck after the druid, I don't know why, it seemed like such a good game now that I think of it.
I have never played Alundra 2.
From all the reviews its seems to be bad game.. but i want to try it anyways.

For the speedrun.
I have recently played trough the game one time, soon two times, just to get to know it abit.
First save was 30 hours at the end. Making side-quests and roughly checking the game out.
The 2nd save is at 13 hours before finishing the last castle(which will add maybe 2-3 hours.) Going abit faster and not caring for any side-quests.

BTW. Has anyone played the roulette in Alundra?
The evil-evil-insane-random roulette at Riverside.

Yeah, I used to play it a lot with my brother. Can't say I remember much of it though more than it's... random. Very random.
Yes, very random.
Only thing noticed is that it most often moves 7, 8 or 10 clicks from the starting point.

Its so weird that all Alundra is logical, except the roulette. (as it now seems)

Umm, you go through a lot of dreams in Alundra. What part of the game was that in, because there are a few dreams like this if I remember, later on in the game.

No, never played the roulette, but the second save time sounds like you cut it in half. Good job. I'm not doing side-quests or anything like that.

~~~
Well I had to wait for the PAL version of Alundra to come in (this meaning eBay time) and I started it a bit yesterday. I'm about an hour and fifteen into it and about to go into Bonaire's dream. This first time is just a playthrough for me to remember half the tricky puzzles and to see if certain things are needed or not.
Yeah. Lots of streamlining to do, and recording equipment to use, later. Smiley
Awesome, sounds like the recording day is soon Smiley
Myself is checking the route and convenient save points.
Im currently at Magyscar. Havent found any real shortcuts in the story yet.
Only thing noticed, after Klines nightly surprise when you chase him around town at night you can, when you are going to help him later that day, enter his house without speaking to Septimus about his idea.
Thats all so far Tongue
For your reference, this is the document I've been making. Comments welcome!
I'd love to see this, alundra is one of my fave games
^Agreed Smiley
Lag.Com, thats great stuff.
Thought, i think some of the Herbs and Gold are unnecessary. (Especially in Tarn's Manor).
While playing trough Magyscar i found a small trick.
Its in one of the four rooms were you need to lit all four candelas.
Is this ever going to get finished? I really want to see this speedrun!
Sorry to say i havent started recording yet, still planning.
Gonna start soon thought.
ryvnn, Lag.Com ? How is it going for you ?
Chillout, you will make me a happy man once I see this run Wink
Real life stuff is getting in the way right now. I may do a test run on the emulator as it's way easier to record. As far as I know, the emulator doesn't have any TASing features, so you guys can feel sure I'm playing in realtime. Seeing as that couldn't be accepted by SDA, I'll mirror it on my webspace.
The weirdo all around you.
Real life and my laptop being a pain is not helping...*mutters* and classes . . . and dealing with the immigration people.
Was thinking about it this morning actually.
新世紀進歩的羽扇子 音楽
Haha, a GameXchange opened about five minutes from my house walking and I went there and saw this game for $12.  I only had $9 and I told the guy that I'd be back and he just said, "I'll sell it to you for that, it's only 30% off" or something like that O_O.  I just finished the mine part; so far it's easier than Landstalker was IMO (except THAT FREAKING ELEVATOR PUZZLE) and the music isn't as good but I'm still excited.
Technically, it's good for me today, but I don't see the store being open a few months down the line (there weren't any other customers). Sad  I guess I can get most everything else from GameCrazy except the one game I'm not ever going to see in a store anyway...
Just wanted to tell that i found a small trick.
At places of which you shouldnt suppose to reach by jumping but seems so close, you can reach by jumping. It takes some tries to pull off, but if you wait to jump at the very edge you can make it across.
So far ive seen its possible on the way to fire manor and in murgg caves.
The weirdo all around you.
I got a walkthrough for it!
My friend was cleaning out her closet and she found it. So I got it from her for a trade of few things that she's getting her boyfriend, along for some cash.
See, there are some small things in this world.
I shall return to working on the run this weekend. ^_^ This made me want to do it again.
Also, I still have some games for sale if anyone is interested! They're at good prices, so clean me out and help me donate it to a good cause--more speedrunning!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
I'd love to see this run.
It's not the best game ever, but i truely loved it. The musics are great, graphisms and effects too, old school but realy pleasant... and the scenario is very dark, witch is rare in RPGs. :p
I like it as much as Zelda 3, Landstalker (Well, it's realy close from this one, even in the main character's design ;)), etc...
Well, don't forget it please ! I can't wait to watch your run. Wink
BTW, the n°2 realy sucks. I've been so sad trying to play it right after the first... XD
The weirdo all around you.
n°2?
Thats great news ryvnn! Smiley
Love to see/read about the progress.
Ah, lucky me, i have never tried Alundra 2 ^^
as said before im trying to figure out if getting the legend sword is faster or not. I think speedrunning through the full game without it and with it, is the only way to know, so im still planning.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Yeah, Alundra "n°2"... that's a shame... it's.. Evil. I've been so desapointed... XD
Good luck for your run, we're waiting for it. Smiley (for the first opus, heh ! ~~)
