How about donations to cripple somebody in a race by giving them something unusual?  For instance, in the Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land race, forcing them to use a weak/different power, such as beam, on a boss.  Could make the races interesting because the runners would have to think on the fly and make them possibly a little less lopsided, if one was getting that way.

I like this plan. I'd be willing to play Dr. Mario looking at the screen upside down (I've done it before and can be functionable but it does screw me up and slow me down) for donation.
Willing to teach you the impossible
Super C race, Ill go low% and someone else does weapons lol
Everything's better with Magitek
I'll take donations to sing The Incredible Singing Robot when I get Robo in Chrono Trigger.  If I'm mashing A, the cutscene at that part isn't quite long enough for me to sing the entire song, but I'll gladly extend it if people have donated for it.

Since I'll probably be racing you at Dr. Mario, should we both have the screen upside down?  I guess I could practice playing like that - it'd definitely give me a new perspective on the game. Tongue

Also, I found the perfect shirt that I should have worn during last year's marathon: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-apparel/womens/bc2c/

If you've got a third coming, yeah do it!  Heck, get it anyway!

Essentia and neskamikaze: I had an idea that the two of you could play versus mode first to see who plays the game. It would take a little bit of extra time, but I think it would be an interesting variant on racing if the two of you don't mind.

I wouldn't recommend practicing it, it gives you a serious headache. It was something I tried to give my friend a handicap and it turned out to do okay, but I felt like crap afterwards lol.

Do you mean like a round of versus, and then only one of us does classic?
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Yes, neskamikaze. Or you could just do a round of versus for fun, heh.
Interesting. I'd definitely like to get a round of versus in, though I don't know if that should determine who gets to play the game... and that doesn't mean I'm scared Tongue

Sorry, I missed this idea until now.

Bad idea.

1. Usually these handicaps only amuse a select few people who know something about speedrunning the game, are difficult for a lot of people to understand, and generally make the run less entertaining.

2. Adds too much time variance to the schedule.

You might go, "but blindfolded Mario?", but that's a challenge that's short and easy for people to understand. It's also funny to see andrewg in a sombrero.

I didn't lose all my matches with Essentia in Dr. Mario.  She is beatable.  Tongue

Well, ones I was thinking of wouldn't add time - it's more of leveling the playing field, or just adding something quick, but quarky.  kamikaze's suggestion is kinda along the lines of what I was suggestion.  If you're still against it, understood.  Just wanting to add something fun to the mix.

Nah, he just has to get me a bowl of ice cream. Wink

I'm okay with whatever we decide to do for Dr. Mario.  I do want to make sure we get some versus matches in, though.

I also had a donation idea for Lego Star Wars.  There are some extra cosmetic changes that can be activated at any time.  My favorite is where every character is wearing noseglasses (even the droids), but some others are changing mines to mini death stars, grapple ropes to daisy chains, and having Chewbacca carry C3PO on his back.  I was thinking that after starting the game, we'd activate the extras once a certain donation amount is reached.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay I'm glad you two agree on some sort of versus match. Maybe you can just do it after you race to determine who the real best Dr. Mario player is. Wink

I also like that Lego Star Wars idea.

You mean a la Groucho Marx?  Yeah, throw that in there!
We all scream for Eyes Cream
Thought of 2 for Kingdom Hearts 2.

1: Score/etc for the Gummi Routes. Most of the time I'll just be dodging(Unless I need health) so it'll be a bit boring. Forcing me to kill some ships for money will make it be a bit like Star Fox. Which reminds me, why is there no Star Fox?!

2: Blindfolded Xaldin battle. I have a save before the battle, and Xaldin's moves can be read based off his sounds. Downside is if I fail I'll waste at most 3-4 minutes.

For pokémon, in addition to naming the trainer and the rival (7 letters), I will be getting at least a charmander, abra, and mew (15 letters).  Its even possible to re-name them partway through the run namingway-style, but its very much out of my way, so maybe only for a good donation or something.

Now, there are at least 2 other forced wild pokemon encounters, and I can manipulate them to be different pokemon (due to using the trainer-fly glitch); I don't know if its worth the hassle, since it'll be out of my way to make them anything other than a chansey and a tentacool, and they won't really serve any purpose, except that I plan to put them in my party before elite 4 so that they show up in the hall of fame.

Also, PM me if you want to take a look at the donation tracking program I'm writing.  So far the only person to give me any feedback is EmptyEye.

This.

Oh, I guess I should add something on-topic to this thread.  Uh, how about somebody wear a white shirt on one of the days, and we can paint the name of a bidder on it?
Yes, my own southpark character
^ I Like that.
Last year I enjoyed the naming of characters most, especially if it's something stupid (like me naming edward Tha_Man) but trying out for difficult glitches in Sonic  worked as well. It doesn't matter if people don't know the glitch, especially if it looks glitchy.
My name is unpronounceable
I thought it was mentioned here, but it doesn't look like it.  For Dr. Mario, solicit donations to choose the BGM.  Even if you don't do this, I'll probably still donate for chill.

On camera? Even more donation options! Who will cyghfer eat?

Well you better hope for some donations because I'm a Fever guy Tongue
I've never been much a fan of Chill.

We could compromise and have somebody donate a lot of money for one of the weird off-musics like Cube just to make everybody mad.
Everything's better with Magitek
Heh, I also prefer Fever, but I could go for Cube or Que Que. Wink

This is turning into the classic, "There are two types of people in the world" type thing.

The answer, in this case, would be, "The people that prefer Chill, and the people who are crazy."
