YUP!!! Smiley I did my run in december and got a 7:01. I didnt record it though. And all I know is that I needed alot of improvement.I basically followed TSA's route and did horrible at the triforce collection part. Now I'm searching if anybody has a new route-or I'll just make my ownfor my new future run.I'm pretty positive this time wih all of kazooies tricks and a couple of mine that anybody will thrash TSA's run. The bomb boost i explained to TheVoid might be useful to grab onto the ledge in the Makar cutscene room. Possibly making it all the way to the top.Heres a video that shows the trick. I didnt show how well it works but I think you can see where I'm gettting at.

O Zlda?
That looks really difficult to do perfectly (i.e. a usable amount of boost). But I saw you shoot up. Does the damage from a good blast prevent you from using the leaf afterwards? If you could boost big like that and fly right afterwards, that would be marvelous... I will have to give it a try to see how much boost it actually provides. Keep in mind that even when using the Deku leaf regularly, there is an optimal time to deploy it near the apex of the jump for considerable distance advantage over a poorly-timed release. I also think there is a random factor with the Deku leaf and your forward (and falling) speed, at least in the wind, but perhaps in dungeons as well. Is there any advantage, in distance, height, or magic-consumption, to pumping the leaf (repeatedly pressing the button) like TSA does? I always did it for fun... :]

I believe 6:20 is easily possible as an improved run... the current one is admittedly (by the author himself) sloppy in places. More precise execution of his route could have netted him 6:35 or less... without any of the stuff discovered afterwards. The challenge is finding other ways to shave time, other than tediously perfect execution of the existing route + all of Kazooie's shortcuts and observations. A few more 1min timesavers and we can get very close to the 6 hour mark... someone would need to give every dungeon the Kazooie treatment, as he seems to have focused primarily on speeding up the Earth and Wind temples. I don't think any good alternate routes have really been found though... not for the overworld, anyway. But there are ways to get certain items early, so that could be considered in a route change. Dang, I want a DVD recorder and a month paid vacation from work...
I've also been trying the Makar gets captured room again also with that bomb leaf boost but so far no success. I never got enough height to get on that platform, I always bounced against the wall Smiley Maybe with a perfect angle and perfect execution of the boost one could just barely get up there... I've also tried sidehopping with a bomb so that it explodes in mid-air, not enough height.

While I was testing stuff I accidentally saved my game when Makar got captured... *Knocks head into wall* But I can still try to get up on that platform Wink

This is my main study in my run ight now. I've gone to my completed wind temple file and hookshoted to the platform just below the highest one. And I was succesful getting up there(1 out of 200 trys) lol. So that platform just below the one where makar gets captured is low enough to get up on with that leaf boost.Of course i jumped off the ledge at and angle towards the highest platform. This room is very mysterious????

This is quite difficult to execute perfectly but I have been able to make it to the platform where Makar gets captured from the one just below it with the bomb/leaf boost from my completed wind temple file. That platform is a bit shorter to get up on than all the other ones.
And sadly no:( the blast does not let you get the leaf out once more. Ive tried that many of times but maybe just as the blast hits me, cancel the leaf and quickly get it out again. This is something else we must study. And yes this boost method boosts you farther in the wind. If only the wind temple would actually provide wind in every room:(

And i dont know why TSA continously pumps his leaf. You should ask him but Ive seen another speed run and they used the same method. I dont think its for distance and height but I dont really see this as for magic consumption uses. Tell you the truth Ive found a method by canceling the leaf and then quickly remereging the leaf out again a use for speed. But sadly each time you remerge it out it sonsumes magic so no use in that method:(

Yes I see 6:20 as a perfect time. My other run...I always consider that as a test run because I didnt use any shortcuts just used TSA's old and outdated route. Ive shouldof researched before doing the run. But you always learn from your mistakes:) So I'm definetly prepared to at least thrash Tsa's sloppy 6:42.Im definetly using kazooies finds in the wind and earth temple. Not to mention a wind temple find by damage boosting through spikes to get a small key in the room just across from the wizzrobe. The room with the underground blocks you must move. I agree with you about the kazooie treatment lol. My freind on youtube has found out about an early boss key by damage boosting over the lasers in the TOG.Instead of move the armos to the switches. It will save about 15-20 seconds max. Theres one thing that i did awful on in my old run and thats the damn triforce collecting. Ive really got to work on that.imrovements here and there like a few timesavers on diamond steppe. .Will you be using 3 hearts becuase I will. I know it seems difficult but i did it in my old run with 4. Im awaiting a dvd recorder as well... hopefully by the summer ill get one.... This is one of the most mysterious speedruns i know, with all these hidden timesavers that we dont know about....Hopefully we'll discover lots more in the future Smiley
Angered Me, You have!
I think you can also save around or at least 1 minute of the current published runs Ganon battle.
Food goes in here

TSA's time was 6:42!

Also it's too bad this game didn't get as much attention as TP is getting, what with that huge 330 page topic. But I guess a lot more people are into speed running now than when TSA did his run. I mean, don't get me wrong, he still made a pretty decent run, but if a little more time was spent, it could have been so much more.

Like Jiano's awesome TP run which is pretty close to the limit I'd say, barring any huge discoveries.

lol sorry about mistaking TSA's time....Ya I agree that his run was pretty decent. He could of easily got at least a 6:30 by fixing his mistakes.

Ya i think petrie911 or peteyboo got a sub 1:00 in the ganon battle.
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!

That was probably peteyboo.  I've never managed that.

Come to think of it, I haven't done any work with WW at all.
That battle was done with the grandma soup which may be faster to get during this run if two bottles were found so you could use the soup dupe glitch. I cannot think of another bottle to collect though.
Here are the videos of all the tricks I could find from youtube -

Forsaken Fortress

Dragon Roost

Tower of the Gods

Ice Isle

Wind Temple

Earth Temple

Diamond Steppe

Windfall Island

Ganon

Don't forget the many time savers posted earlier in this run but have no video and the many route adjustments.

.

Im aware of all these tricks.  But do you think this bomb/leaf boost find by me is useful?

In the makar cutscene room Ive been able to make it to the top platform in my completed wind temple file from the one just below the top.

Also why collect two bottles???When we can simply just use one helping during the ganon battle? Thank you for giving me all the videos on youtube:)
Heres an updated route of first 3 segments. I put them in parts...

Segment 1
Open cutscene
Side-hop off lookout
Get 100 rupees under Grandma's House
Talk to Grandma/get hero clothes
Save Warp to lookout

Segment 2 part 1
Climb up lookout/talk to Aryll
Get telescope/bird cutscene
Side-hop off lookout
Go to Ocra
Earn hero's Sword
Save Warp to lookout

Segment 2 part 2
Get to woods
skip first bokoblin
Defeat 2 bokoblins
Tetra cutscene/Aryll cutscene
Go to Grandmas/climb up ladder
backflip of second floor
Obtain Heros sheild
Talk to Tetra/cutscene
Save on ship

Segment 3 part 1
Go to Niko
Instead of jumping off stairs hang on ledge and drop
Ropes course(as soon as you get on rope repeatdly tap A) Quicker than Tsa's method
Get spoils bag
Save warp to deck

Segment 3 part 2
Climb up ladder
Cutscene
Save in FF

The time warp after getting the sword, and the three timesavers in the journey to forsaken fortress should at least shave 30-40 seconds

Let me rephrase that. Besides the last Ganon fight, you should be able to save around 1 minute or a bit more on the first (puppet) and third (worm) Ganon fight. Now after seeing peteboo's clip, I believe you can save now at least 2 minutes from all fights combined.

I want to play TWW now thanks to you guys when I readed yours topic. I will start find new stuff from TWW today when I get home Grin

When you're gonna record some segments?
Great work guys, keep up to good work Cheesy

Well I won't be recording segments till I get a dvd recorder which I hope will be soon.I'm not sure about anyone else

I actually found something new. Its a overhead parry attack with a boost. I was in Shark Islands grotto and was fighting a darknut and a moblin. I did the overhead attack on the darknut and at the apex of my jump the moblin hit me and rocketed me into one of the mouths. Now that was pure luck. It could probably reach us to certain areas but its useless in run terms due to all the angling and timing of the hit Sad But its an effective boost thats for sure it gives more height and distance than a  damage boost
O Zlda?
Take it to the next level and use your critical thinking... Now you know that certain enemy blows propel you distances constructive to shortcuts. What other enemies can do this when they hit you while you're in the air? Face away from a foe and do a jumpslash or a jump of some sort as they hit you, and see if the midair hit propels you Cheesy

My GCN is over at my fiancee's house right now Sad I'm in the process of moving.
Ya your right a simple backflip with a deku leaf could do the trick. But that overhead parry attaqck gives you alot of height. I think that the moblins are the ones that hit you the farthest. Darknuts only propel you short distances. I'm just wondering now where could we use this??? And the moving process sucks I've been through it alot

When I played TWW I've only found this:

It's useless glitch like always Tongue

LOL!!! Cheesy Thats is an awesome timesaver!!!!!(sarcasim)
This is my super boost theory just showing how much distance you could get. The jumpslash gives more height than the deku leaf but the overhead parry attack kills all. I'll try to upload it but it deals with alot of frustration and timing

My new wind waker record is 6:40:23 i beat the record but didnt record it. And i still used TSA's route and tricks:) it was basically a test run to see how much time can be improved
Retired
Until a certain segment, I didn't use the optimal sailing.  I lost about 2-3 minutes from that.  You could get under 6:30 with no new tricks, but again, with all the new tricks, you should be able to get close down to 6 hours.

Good luck.
Kazooie: Heh nice Wink

Bottles: Nice Moblin boost. Does it also work\what happens if you face the Moblin with your back and when he attacks, jump back and take out the leaf? (Just the same like you already did except facing away from him :)).
