History: I had an old youtube account, KaddyGamer, that got suspended. Had a lot of subs, vids, and views at the time. Tried to get back into it, but due to the lack of quality from my old vids (240p), I had little motivation in re-uploading all of those all over again. Plus, I actually did wanted to redo all of it with 1080i. However, at that time, money was an issue.
As of right now though, money is not that large of an issue like back then. Some, but I can afford it. So this is what brings me back in. Plus, with the right setup, I do want to make a speed run for a few games (I don't understand, but why no SR for FF13/-2/-3 and Tales of the Abyss yet?). With this, I intend to do something more with it. Yet, seeing as how I'm outdated in many aspects and this place was originally were I learned all about making videos, I thought I'd ask here first. So, onto my questions. I had a lot, but I want to start with some of the basics.
- Virtual Dub/Mod + Avisynth + MeGui: These 3 things were how I made my videos in the past for youtube. I looked at the knowledge page and I was shocked that Virtual Dub was still on that list. I thought it would be replaced or something. A long time ago, people recommended me Anri-Chan. From what I recall though, Anri-chan doesn't use Avisynth, right? Regardless, my real question is, can I use these 3 for making 1080i videos or no? (I don't want to have that big of a change if I don't have to.)
- Video Capture Card + Desktop: I know, this is going to be weird and I probably won't get an answer; or "you decide" and/or "build one yourself from scratch." I know, but I want to get a background of what I actually will need. The basic question for this is "recommend me a Desktop (amazon, newegg, etc...) with a Medium/Hi-End Video Capture Card that will allow me to make 1080i videos." I looked through the knowledge base and there was only one that caught my eye. AverMedia C027. Yet, it's only barely a 4 star on amazon. That doesn't give me a confidence at that card. The top sellers on amazon is also less aspiring.
I know this may be a lot of rambling. I just want to get a good setup since I don't want to deal with me being ready and able to speed run, but my hardware/software is holding me back. Maybe there is even a website that has these recommendations that I'm not aware of (like eCollegePC, but it isn't meant for game recording though...). Lastly, my budget is $800. Mainly doing it for PS2/3/4 games via HDMI mostly and hopefully the capacity to do PC games in the future as an option.
