Grin I found the first Twilight Princess Sequence Break! (or I think I'm the first anyways :P)

In the temple of time you can get the Big Key without the Dominion Staff.

When you get the the room with the big key you hook shot (I will not say claw shot). To the top like normal and set the 2 little statues on the buttons. Then like normal you hook shot one of the little piggys helmets and put it on the 3rd button. Then here's the kicker for the 4th, if you equip the ball and chain and overshoot the little statue up on the ledge you can make it fall down without using the staff of dominion to control it off the edge.

I know, it isn't seriously useful. But it's a sequence break none the less.

It's not really a break at all, as you can just use BOTH of the iron masks to hold down switches.  That's what I did.  I didn't even notice the statue of dominion on the wall until afterward.

Now, for a little glitch in that room, if you put a helmet on the switch in the right way, it continuously activates and deactivates the switch, making Link suddenly stop every half second.  Neat, huh?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Just finished this game. The ending was... Epic!

Well you can move the pots without the staff so it's not completely worthless.

There's one thing I've been wondering. Is there any spot in the Ice Palace you use the spinner? Because if not then would it be possible to do it out of order like child/spirit. Since you follow a route out in the snow and all to get there.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Nintendo might have pulled some bullshit like, "oh, you can't go through at all unless you have the reekfish scent."

In North America. This game will be available worldwide by mid-December.

Congrats on finishing. Assuming you had no outside help, how long did the game take you compared to TSA's 33 hours?

It took me about 40 hours. Granted, that included a lot of sidequests and wandering around trying to figure out what to do, since it isn't always clear where you actually need to go next.
CTTR Master and Spyro 2 Master
It can't be runned in less than 7 hours. This is actually good because it proves it's a long game.

It proves it's a bug tested game. And I think if someone really had a route worked out it could be done in around 7 hours I'm starting to think. Though I may be vastly off. Guess we'll see soon. Someone will eventually start writing out a route.
Zelda Rulez!
how linear this game is. it's like oot you can do any temple if you want or what?

if it's linear that route would be very easy to do Roll Eyes
I'm not THAT bad.

It's very linear.

Quite frankly, I think it's too early to be thinking about a route right now. Without major sequence breaks, it'll essentially be the same as the developer-intended sequence.

You are right, not now. first we all beat this game couple times, then find glitches and sequance breaks and then try to plan route Wink

I know it's a bit too early, but I'm wondering what kind of time do you guys think a test speed-run should be shooting for.. I'm guessing 15-18 hrs skipping what cutscenes you can and knowing the temples very well.

Gah, you lucky state-dwellers. Us Europeans don't get the game until Dec 8th. Or the 15th if you're waiting for the, ahem... decent version.

You'll pay for living on such a massive land mass some day! I swear!

I should be able to offer my contributions (routes, glitches etc.) in about a month's time. Until then, have fun speed-running.

This has most likely been discussed already (I'm avoiding spoilers at all costs so I'd rather not read into the thread), but are there any significant differences between the GCN and Wii versions (controls aside) that would force separate categories?

Hey it's not my fault we live closer to Japan and buy more games  :P. One difference between the two would be menu browsing speed since it's a point click inventory on the Wii. Where as you would be cycling around on the GC version. There's also probably more speed efficiency with ranged weapons on the Wii version.

Although I realize that we'll need a regular run first, it looks like TP has some nice mini-games to run.  Especially snowboarding.
No the Quail is not riding the Q
I'm not sure if this has any use...

As far as I know, TSA and Manocheese have reached the ending sequence. Respectively, they took around 33 and 40 hours each, one with more sidequests completed than the other.

I don't know if anyone's completed the game 100%, though. It could take a while to pull that off without any outside help.
