Is Wii out yet? Sorry, I've been living under a rock for the last six months.  Also, are you playing it on GameCube or Wii?

And wow, we both have the same post count (14).

Yeah it's out, I'm playing it on Wii.
This is my favorite button:

Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
Whoa, I didn't notice that.

This makes sub-7 much, much more likely.

This speedrun would be incredibly boring to watch.  There's not much high precision stuff, and the game is insanely linear.  Not to mention, Nintendo's frickin sequence-break nuked the game with really clever tricks - such as walls automatically trigger an animation so you can't scale them, invisible walls, cut scene triggers that can't be bypassed, clever AI that checks if you've done something first, and built-in obstructions that don't remove until "new maps" load with the advent of a cut scene triggering it.

That being said, good luck...you guys seem like you can figure out something...or perhaps some newcomer will arrive with "major" sequence breaks and hopefully you all won't chase him away before he speaks :p

Still...I mean...you would be able to show off stuff like this:
Massive Spoiler Warning

Also, if you want an idea of segments, and maybe time...
Visual Guide (Videos I did on second playthrough - by no means a speedrun) I am Making
No way will we trim this down to 8 hours so If someone's gonna do a run of it they'll probably have to post it elsewhere.

I can beat the Forest Temple, with cutscenes not skipped, in  under 2 hours from start of game till that point.  I reckon skipping the cutscenes, it would still be over an hour.  My point is, there are nine dungeons, each more complicated and larger in length than the last.  The game will take at least 10+ hours until sequence breaks are discovered.  OoT took me 6hrs and 45 mins without a single sequence break in early 1999 to beat, but that's because the world is smaller, and the stuff to do inbetween dungeons is less.  TP is double the legnth and like 5x the size of OoT.

So again, do not give up, just don't expect much for awhile...
maybe 15 hours if it's very fast...

I still wonder why nintendo went to such lengths to sequence-break-proof the game, when speedrunners and people who discover these kinds of glitches only represent a (very) small minority of the gaming population.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

They got scared after they saw people on YouTube using BombChus to sequence break and get Zora's Mask and Goron's Mask before you've even beating forest temple.
Currently needing ideas on games to speedrun

"still wonder why nintendo went to such lengths to sequence-break-proof the game"

Its not about that, its about proper coding. They are smarter coders, and they want to do the best they can, so they check for things and fix bugs as part of that. It isn't like they are sequence break nazis or antiglitchers, its just what they do because when they design a game, they don't necessarily design it to be an OoT (though that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing)

Also, I have yet to test it because im on my 1st completion and glitching isn't what I am even concerned w/ in the slightest, but there are those 2 rotating platforms in forest temple and im not sure but if you timed it perfectly you may be able to sidehop and sequence break to the gale boomerang. Not sure if it saves much time since curently you still need all those monkeys, but whatever.

Well don't play the game thinking you won't find anything...

I found a simple trick during my first playthrough.

Forest Temple Bridge
Existence as you know it is over
That looks pretty cool, although I can't think of any uses for it.

Did you use a capture card to record it?

Yes

That's good. CC is my only option at the moment.

What does that trick accomplish, though?  Still cool.

Congrats on recording the first ever Twilight Princess glitch.  I'm sure there will be more to come.

wow that was a cool glitch fierce, good job.
So, anybody do that gale boomerang early? I haven't gone back to test it but now that im stuck in gerudo I might as well go back and see. If the timing is too much we may be able to do it using fierce's new trick. How pro would that be?

Yeah, looks like a close call but im pretty sure it can be done w/ bridge glitch... ill keep trying.

So far I have managed to sidehop from bridge glitch and then get a strange boost up onto the other bridge cornerpost, but I fell off... Im sure it can be done w/ roll like fierce does in his vid though... ill keep testing

Speed is the key.
Fierce, even though that glitch might not be useful in a speed run, it shows one important thing: At least there are glitches in this game. And as long as there is glitches, there will be sequence breaks, more or less. Good work.. Smiley

Good luck with whatever you're attempting, Acryte. Wink

ultra lame. I have found a glitch in TP but it is one that I hate... ALOT. So, if you change the camera while holding the joystick in the same direction, it will not reorient the direction of link acording to the newe viewing angle... AKA... run at camera, press Z and then keep holding the joystick in the same direction as before. Notice it changes camera angles to the standard behind the back, but you are holding BACK on the joystick and running FORWARD. Also, it makes it hard to turn because he barely turns at all unless you release the joystick to neutral, or make a 1/4 rotation in a direction adjacent. AKA, you have to turn practically 90 degrees to reorient the links controls to be correct w/ the viewing angle of the camera. I hate this. In fact, I was beginning to think there was something wrong w/ my nunchuck until I realized why it happened... I'd be trying to turn around corners or something and then all of a sudden Im running into a wall because I can't turn worth crap. It was lame. I woulnd't mind them fixing this in an update. It hurts the insanely awesome gameplay of TP. (I can't believe no testers noticed this...)
No the Quail is not riding the Q
While I'm not really looking for glitches on my first playthrough...I couldn't help but do this.

Man that's lame to put an invisible wall behind there... just lame. Sad

Still it's a very nice find that hopefully will lead to something good... Cheesy

Edit: What's behind those rocks anyway? Tongue
