So I totally haven't been monitoring things here. I forgot who asked, but current Console WR is 1:52:58.  sub 1:50 is possible with the route I use.  I submitted my 1:53:07 to speedrun.com because the WR had a very crappy ending and I thought I'd beat it "soon" and yeah that never happened so my 1:52:58 VOD is gone...  I dont really have any immediate plans to return to running this unless there are skips worth it to come back.  There are some new things I saw, which are fantastic.  perhaps PC will get sub hour soon.

I'm really booked today, but i'll take a look at your run later and then i'll approve it. Anyway, Lara Skywalker might be something worth checking out ;-) should bring down your time quite easily Smiley
Btw, haven't checked but i hope you entered your run in the right category ;-)
edit: Yo, category is correct Cheesy Awesome, now the three main leaderboards have runs on it... Or they will have as soon as i have time to accept your run
Ive looked into the skywalker.  Its just so damn inconsistent that its not worth it in any location
really? I kinda thought Zydin could do it consistently, so maybe he has more info for you ^^

First off, Skywalker is 100% once you get it started with my strat (It's slower than the PC/Next Gen strat) but i'm looking into seeing what I can do using that same strat since it's so much faster.

Secondly, The intro skip is real:

Just a few things to note. I recorded this on the PC version, so I'm not sure if it's console friendly yet. The way I described it in the other post is accurate. You can sneak a jump inbetween cutscenes to activate the trigger to allow you to start before you're supposed to be able to.
are you jumping in a specific direction? And what timeframe do you wanna hit exactly?
I was holding forward (W). Unfortunately, I don't know the timeframe because you don't know if you got it until just before I started recording. If I had to guess I would say it's right after the second cutscene in the game (when she surfaces out of the water). I don't really know much more than that. I'm sorry, I can do more testing to narrow it down.
Zydin I haven't tried this yet, but I'm seriously amazed. I loved you lot's for final puzzle skip but this could be one of the best things happening to the speedrun <3

EDIT: Well the one suspicious thing I found which goes into the same direction Zydin is guessing: After you skip the second cutscene (when she surfaces out of the water) and you go to menu you can actually choose reload checkpoint. Normally during the intro you can only exit to menu and then continue. After the Square Enix title dissapeared the option menu is back to normal.
What I really loved about the intro skip was the fact that you can go OOB as soon as you gain control of Lara, but now... You're able to glitch the game even before the first actual gameplay part. Just.. Wooah, Zydin that's impressive !

Even though the community for the game is rather small, what you've all done so far is amazing ! Keep going, sub 1h is so close.

And again, amazing work on this one Zydin !
I timed the skip. It saves over a minute. Don't forget to play the game blind when you get the skip

Wait, so you actually have to do the mousewheel jump twice in a row now to get the fastest time? Sigh, I still only get the normal intro oob mousewheel jump 10% of the time.

Are there any tips for the timing on that, btw? I'm probably not scrolling hard/fast enough.
hmm can't give you any help there traivlin, but I'm able to do the intro jump with a controller, so it cant really be THAT hard. Plus, once i have any idea where exactly a jump would be possible, i'm sure the new skip will also be doable with controller ^^
Maybe map jumping to 2 or more buttons that can be mashed rather easily will help you, if you are struggling with the mouse wheel

Well, that was my question. When exactly is a jump possible after reloading a checkpoint?
Considering that you probably only have to press jump once in some kind of small frame window, I think it shouldn't be that hard either with a mousewheel.

Also what should my framerate be, when I get control over Lara? Is there some kind of sweetspot?
When I'm standing still, my fps are about 290.

I think I'm just doing some critical mistake, I just don't know about.
Right now I have jump binded to scroll up + scroll down, and forward binded to a mouse button.
Now I'm pressing the mouse button with one finger on one hand, and I'm scrolling the mouse wheel with my other hand.
It still only works 10% of the time, but my scrolling should be much faster now. What's the issue?
Jumping is only possible in a small frame window (1 maybe 2) after a reload during the black screen after the load screen and before anything is shown on the screen. It's insanely tight.

The best thing you can do is time your loads on your machine using the loading circle. For example, i count 5 expanding circles before i mash jump on my machine.

With the new skip, since it occurs after a button press, time your jump input with your cutscene skip to increase your odds. Speaking of the new skip, has anybody else been able to replicate it?

Alright, I'll try harder then.

I haven't been able to replicate it, but I think I've heard Lara jumping sometimes, but I could be imagining things. So I don't know.. no luck yet at least.
also havent had luck, but then again, i have almost no time at the moment :/ I'll try more over the weekend. It would be helpfull to know between which two cutscenes the jump can be done, since i cant skip the second cutscene
Alright well, if nobody else can do it I'll do a button map so you guys can replicate it. Speaking of, how do i install a visual display of my key presses to my computer?

If nobody can get it after that, I'll just chalk it up to a 'my machine only trick and not do it anymore.
You can use apvkp:

Thanks. That's gonna help with recording things for you guys. Anybody have updates on whether or not they've been successful with the skip?
I tried it couple of times but I never got it. Besides the timing of the jump input there are also many other unknown things to me like is it ok to attempt it multiple times by exit to menu then continue or is it just a one time thing when you start a new game etc... so a video with keyinputs would really help a lot.
I can't seem to do it anymore. I'll keep playing around with it, but at this point I feel like it isn't real and that I got all of your hopes up for nothing. I'm sorry.
Oh well, that's a shame. Although, if it happened once, there is at least the possibility that it will happen again somehow.
I've done it quite a few times, but ever since i started trying to record it i haven't been able. It may just be that I've been doing it wrong.

Yeah, I know. Too bad that the video doesn't even show the execution part. Maybe we would've been able to find the right moment through mic background noises.
TAS? I mean the frame we're searching for is somewhere in the intro cutscenes, so maybe this could help us figuring this out ^^
