I've been trying the pipes skip but I'm not able to save time yet. Sometimes Lara teleports up when I aim+back (instead of getting behind the blue barrel) so it saves a few more seconds but it's still not enough. The solution would be, yeah, to oob directly to the radio tower with the next area loaded but is it possible.

Then, I've spent like 1h30 on gondola skip but I've never managed to get Lara to the end alive. I get to the pylon quite easily but she keeps dying every time I try to make her landing on the floor below. I watched Zydin's video but there is no way I can do the same without dying, is there anything I miss ?

Oh! Thank you for the reminder. I need to make an updated video with an easier strat for that skip

Samurai, can you upload a video showing me what you're doing?
Sure, here is basically what I get.

Oh, if you have an easier method, I'm really interested in seeing it.
You're making a common mistake. You can't land on the brown beam that you're aiming at. You actually have to land on the yellow angled part just above it. You'll hit that and bounce right off so you'll want to hold either right or back to land down below (i recommend holding back cause that's the easier strat. I hold right in my video.)
Yes, in fact my first tries consisted in hitting that yellow angle, like you did in your vid, but I failed miserably so many times that I thought it was actually not possible (and then tried to land directly on the beam)... Damn it seems difficult to be that accurate. I'll get some retries later, thanks for the tips btw.

So I've been playing PC Tomb Raider of late, and I can confirm that the 'wiggle' method to get 4 swings instead of 5 works on PC. All you have do is use both movement buttons (A/D and left/right) together. As in, hold left and tap A in rhythm, etc. This is an easy small time save and since you don't need to use the mouse in the beginning anyway I highly recommend it.
Alright guys, here you have the Wolf Cave Skip in only one Skywalk.

It's not an easy one. But the skip was already kind of hard, so maybe you you want to give it a try.
Inputs and camera are really important with this one. And be careful when you go up the rock at 0:15 up to 0:25, DO NOT press A or you will lock the camera under the roof.

I guess you could try to go for it in runs because most of the time, if it fails then you simply have to finish the skip the usual way.
On console, there are some spots that you can simply tackle flip up using pause buffers to almost get a full wolf cave skip. Have you pc guys ever checked if you can back walk up those same spots? Might make it faster if it works
Zydin, I tried.. a lot ! But I never succeeded.

Maybe I was in the wrong spots. Do you have any screenshot/video of those spots ?
No video, but i know where they are. I'll check if it works when i get home.
@MoXxi Can't you get the camera angle glitched very easly like this and then you're scewed? I didn't get it very often in 1 go and as far as I remember the glitched camera was one of the reasons. Or does it just happen in the beginning but when you choose the right way you're fine for the whole trip?

and I'm almost certain the takle flip spots and backward scrambles have pretty much no correlation. Otherwhise we would have gotten console Alex skip etc. for "sure" on PC.
Back when the endurance was still a thing on pc, you guys weren't all about that fps like you are now. Alex skip also has a different starting slope. you're probably right but I'll check anyway

AB, you need to be fairly precise indeed. But once you figured it, it's doable. And as long as you go up the rock without pressing A, (looking a bit down seems to help), you should be ok. When you're past that rock you don't have to worry about the camera anymore.

And if you glitch the camera, you just have to land on the ground and do the 2nd part of the skip the usual way.

EDIT: By the way AB, do you still have some troubles getting the collapsing rope skip ? Because I find it to be an easy Skywalk. The river section isn't a problem. I can make a video with inputs if you want.
@Zydin I did try some spots you tackle flip with high fps but no luck.. the reason is for backward scambles we have to get "locked" in place most of the times while you don't need that for tack flipping.

@Moxxi alright I'll try that. I do have a setup now but I'm not happy with it because it involves stopping on the river and there are still too many ways to mess it up if I don't do it correctly. So a video would be nice :)!
Alright, here it is :

The video is pretty much self-explanatory. You just want to get some momentum to go around the trees.
I can get it almost 4 times out of 5. And as you're far better than me at skywalking it shouldn't be a problem for you.
@Artistic sometimes, i have better luck with back walking if i release aim and press it again immediately. Do you find that you have to do that anywhere?
And another one.
Just an alternative skip for the last radio call. This isn't as fast as Eydas' way but it's consistent and still saves something like 5 seconds.

A short explanation : Just as you grab the edge, press W+A and scramble.

When i first showed brass that you could die to skip the radio he said it didn't save any time. Are you sure about the 5 seconds?

MoXxi: 2015-06-01 05:25:38 am
I just retimed it. And it saves between 5 and 6 seconds. Maybe it has to do with console/pc loading times ?
As you can see I'm playing in French, but a while ago I timed this radio dialogue in every languages and if I remember correctly English was even a bit longer than French.

Can someone test it to confirm ?

EDIT :
Not related to any skip, but I just noticed something. We run on normal difficulty because on easy we have an auto aim, right ? Well actually, auto aim only works if you play with a gamepad. With keyboard and mouse it doesn't affect your aiming at all. So as consoles and pc are already different categories, shoudn't we run on easy difficulty on pc ? (It should make the Chasm Stronghold fight slightly easier) Simple suggestion.
But running on easy will make you guys look weak!
I think at this stage, normal is already established, and enough fights are skipped that it isn't going to affect much. Headshots are still 1 hit kills and armored enemies will still be 2 shots. If you're asking for more health well, you really shouldn't be getting hit that much
I wouldn't mid running on easy. Speedrunning is about beating a game as quickly as possible, if setting it on easy would assist in doing that, then I don't see why not.
When I tried out some stuff on easy it seemed to me like there was auto aim for the deer, but just for the first time. Then I asked shanz and he had the same impression. The problem is we could just be imagining things.

Other than that when you get the rope and the part before the first river section are easier to yolo on easy but that's it. Now mistake free battles end up to be the same time on both difficulties it's just that you get punished more for mistakes on normal... So as I like to say it: Perfect execution (which is possible for this game imo) is resembled better on normal than on easy. If you all start running on easy I might start to do it as well as long as first time deer has no auto aim.
okay, so my arcade stick finally got delivered and I immediately tested the turbo button.
Well, turns out this game writes valid inputs into a buffer. And they really didnt think anyone would need it, so they made it rediculous small.
Even one input every 12 Frames (i.e. 5 Inputs per second with 60 FPS) is too much to handle for the game and nothing will happen.
So, if anyone is writing / has written a script for this game to test certain things after reload, well... you should try to keep it to
2-3 Inputs per second. I can't test what the magic number is here, because my options only include 5/10/20 inputs / second.
This also explains why spudslide etc are impossible to get with a script
Something crazy happened today during testing. I was able to play the game during the intro of lara getting dragged. I actually pulled the metal out of her body and hit that checkpoint before it typically allows you to swing back and forth. I was able to reload and skip that entire part. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what i did and wasn't able to replicate it. My best guess is that i was able to sneak in a jump somewhere and activated a trigger during one of the transitions.
