Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here was interested in a TimeSplitters 2 easy mode speed run, cause I have done one already but I'm thinking about improving it. I have the Gamecube version.
I'd suggest normal and make it single-segmented. If you are certain you want to do easy, then make it single-segmented anyway. Or else its just a bunch of individual level runs and wont be as impressive.
I'm pretty sure the rules of the site would stipulate that you should do it on the hardest difficulty, it would be best to segment because the Robot factory level is so hard.
I would love to see this game too. I remember there was a guy who had some video's uploaded on his own site, I suggest you search though the forum to find some old TS2 topics to help you with your run.
That being said, I think a segmented run on easy won't be very entertaining. Just like the others said, I think a run on normal would be more entertaining. A run on hard would be even better but it's so insanely difficult to even beat normally, I don't even want to think of the amount of tries it would take to complete the Robot Factory fast. Beating that stage while going slow and carefull is already frustrating beyond belief.
Good luck with the run, I can't wait to see a run of this on the site.
*At least Gold on every Challenges and Arcade Leauges. *Complete Story on Hard difficulty.
A time faster than mine is certainly possible ("segmented" like I did: SS would be pretty friggin' annoying^^)
Maybe I'll try it again some time and see if I can get even better. I have an idea that may save time: if you play a story level and get to a checkpoint; if you restart from checkpoint; I think the timer restarts.
I think it works like that for some reason, so for example: If you play Siberia and it takes you exactly 2 minutes to get to the checkpoint and you restart, and the "real time you play" is 5 minutes for completing the level, then it'll show up as 3 minutes on the Stats Screen.
Hm, not sure if that would be allowed, though, depending on how you'd time it (=in game or whatever).
Alright, mikwuyma, I just tested it to be sure and it works. The stats says that I completed the first two levels in only one minute (and I didn't even play well). This would "save" loads of time if you only care about the stats screen.
I may do a run like this just for fun to see how low numbers I can get, and since I can't record; I guess it doesn't matter if I just try it.
I have a few TS vid here if anyone is interested (webcam vids, but IMO; they're watchable^^):

I would man, But I haven't yet been able to finish the robot factory on normal, and even if I had, atom smasher is too hard.

Actually, there is no such rule. I can't even beat the first level on hard, let alone the game. I am not sure if I'm going to make a segmented or SS, but it WILL be on easy.
Another TS2 story speedrun topic. This comes up every year or so.
I was kind of obsessed with Story Easy a couple years back. Currently I hold all of the individual stage world records on Easy. You can view all of those runs at:
Also, I've beaten the Notre Dam 2:46 listed on there. My 2:41 is at:
Overall, those come to 26:51 total time. So if you are going to do segmented, you'll probably want to aim for under 27 minutes.(That 26:51 doesn't take into account fractions of a second, so a run with a time of 2:07.9 would round down to 2:07, which is why a 26:51 segmented run is probably not doable unless new strats are discovered.)
Good luck there.
You could also try a single-segment run. I did that and ended up with 27:53 or around that. I don't have the video as it was unfortunately lost in a hard-drive crash. I used most of the same strats as in the individual stages, but some of the more difficult/luck-based ones were modified for use in a SS run(Notre Dam comes to mind).
I myself won't be attempting a speedrun for this site since I'm rusty at the game, I don't have the time to practice for it, and this site doesn't accept VHS submissions.
If you want advice on any stages, I'll be glad to help with what I can.

Wow, I'm really talking to Silent Thunder! I've seen your YouTube videos, and I'm not even close to that kind of speed. Below is a link to my Wild West run on Youtube. Please bear in mind that I can do better, and that the Aztec Ruins run I really screwed up and had to backtrack. Feel free to check out my other TimeSplitters stuff. (search TimeSplitters 2 Done Quick).
I will try to do mine single segment, but no garuntees. I am pretty good at the game, but if I accidentally die, I don't want to start all over again.
I attempted this on easy mode a few years ago but never finished it, I think i got the time down to around 25 minutes, so I'm sure there's room for improvement.
Okay guys, I've finished the run. I'll have to clock it, but I of course did better then on YouTube. I did far subpar to people like Ace and Silent Thunder, but how am i supposed to beat people like them?
ST is definitely the right guy to talk to when it comes to TS2 story (or anything TS-related for that matter). If you want a really good run, your times should be at least close to ST's times. Sub 30 minutes would probably be cake, but 27:53 is probably really good.

Well, I don't know if they are that good yet. I did my best, and hat's all I can offer.
