I just achieved 2:18 on siberia, 2:36 on chicago and 4: 36 on NeoTokyo. they will be posted on the above YouTube channel soon.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Are these up yet?

By just looking at the times, nice improvement for Siberia and Chicago especially.  Once I see the vids of the 2:18 and 2:36 I can give some adivce.  There's probably some major things you can do for Siberia still(2:10 and under isn't out of reach for you).

Chicago sounds like it's getting close.  I'll have to see the vid, but sub-2:30 is what you want to shoot for and there might be a couple of tips that'll help.

For Neotokyo, you want to get as close to 4:20(or under!) as possible.  The stage is a pain to play because of the wait at the beginning, but for practice you should be able to restart at the checkpoint over and over.  There's a lot that has to be done at the end of the stage and it all happens quick.  It's very easy to have it all go terrible.

The runs will be posted over the next few days.

By the way, the Siberia time is 2:14, not 2:18. Please check ot both runs at the below YouTuBe account. The Siberia and Chicago ones I mean.

Siberia:
Before I begin on what can be improved, I want you to keep in mind that you are doing a lot of things right.  You're movement is getting less wasteful and smoother.  You're trying to follow the best route and the execution is pretty good.  Iit's mostly several little things that are adding up throughout the run that are costing you time.  What follows is a big ol' list of things that can be improved.  Reading it may be discouraging, but keep in mind that there were no huge mistakes in your 2:14.  It's a huge improvement from your previous time.  You're now at the point of doing more practice in order to refine the little things, so here goes.

At the start, try to hit the guard sooner.  You come out quite a ways away from the best line of movement.  You don't necessarily have to get the headshot, but it helps(and looks cool Wink ).

Next, opening the door as you drop down and then getting the mines.  You missed opening the door first.  Doesn't cost too much time, but it's one of those little things that add up.

Next, you have to go around the guard before entering the dam.  I can understand this since normally that guard ends up in a position that blocks the best path.  The solution to this is in the way that you are facing as you go through that part.  Take a look at where I face in my 2:05 video just before I get to that guard.  I'm really looking towards that green wall.  More often than not, facing towards that direction causes the guard to swing wide and you can get past him.

Going up the dam, you decided against killing the two guards, which is probably the right decision.  Killing the white guard is difficult and the time saved from doing so is very small.  It's not worth doing until you need to go from getting 2:06's to squeaking out 2:05.  You might want to consider punching the second guard, however, since it's pretty easy to do.

At the top of the dam, you want to try and get the soviet from the white guard since it helps a lot when going back down the dam.

You avoid the guards on the way down the dam and tend to not take as tight of a spiral down the stairs as you need to.  Since you didn't have the Soviet, you weren't left with much choice.  The guards are worth killing here, so memorize their positions and be ready to take them out immediately so that you can stay on the best path.

You got stuck a bit on the entrance door to the last building.  Another of those small things.

A tip for the container objective:  It's pretty tough to see on my 2:05 video, but I bring up the manual aim before throwing the mines.  It's for the same reason you bring it up for the radar dish at the beginning.  Manual aim allows you to fling the mine further than you can otherwise.  This allows you to get the mines of the container sooner and saves a second or so.

Finally, you had to look to get through the small hole before getting the crystal.  With more practice, you can just get a feel for where it's at and do it without looking.

Chicago:
Also pretty good.  You followed the world record strat well and most of the exection was quite smooth  Just more small things.

I liked that you're doing shot at the beginning which stops the guard so you can just run past.  Nice.

Try and exit the phone booth quicker.

You should just run right up to the informant rather than to the corner, then turn and deal with the guards.

After getting the card on the table, immediately go for the exit.  You'll get stuck on the informant(I can't begin to express how impressed I'd be from anyone who ever figures out a way get immedately past him), but you'll be able to exit at the exact quickest moment possible.

That white guard near the end cost you the most time.  Try to make sure you take him out.  I'll also note that he's one of the most annoying guards in story easy.  I can never avoid being shot by him(which costs a few tenths of a second since getting shot from the front slows you down slightly).

For the boss, I'm pretty sure you got lucky in his placement(he appeared near the end of the stairs, which is the best spot).  I know that he also likes to appear way back where it causes you to lose a lot of time.  There's a way to guarentee that he'll always end up in the best spot.  In the world record vid, you'll notice I move over towards the right when I enter the room.  That's the trick.  What determines the placement of the boss is when he actually sees you.  If you're in the middle of the room, he usually notices you a lot quicker and he'll stop at a bad spot.  If you stay to the right slightly, he won't see you at all and will always run to the bottom.

Finally, more headshots on the boss will cut time.  This is difficult since it's one of the few times that auto-aim is more of a hinderance than a help(auto-aim tends to go for the boss' body, and you have to fight it to actually get a damn headshot).  Getting really fast kills(like in my 2:24 vid) doesn't happen increadibly often.  It can make a couple seconds worth of difference, though.

So great work so far.  You're on the right track.  Practice some more and keep it up. Smiley

Thanks for the advice! I studied your WR videos over and over, and I think that I could improve siberia by at lest 1 second, hopefully more. the NeoTokyo run will be up late tonight.
I'm not a TS2 expert, but wouldn't it beneficial to try to get the guards to shoot on your back as much as possible, possibly by gaining their attention by shooting stuff? Dunno if it's just me, but as far as I can tell it seems to give a slight boost to your movement.

Sort of, but it doesn't always work.

Yes getting shot in the back gives a slight speed boost, but generally it's better to focus on other things first, such as good movement and accurate shooting and then worry about the boosts when you've reached a point where you just can't get a time without them.  For example: The best time for Wild West is 1:08.  I know for a fact that 1:07 is possible, but probably would require getting a couple of boosts before you reach the mine cart rather than the two backboosts I got in my 1:08 run.  It might not even require that, but it would really, really help.  If you just want 1:10, or whatever, then that can be done without worrying about boosts at all.

They do help though.  The most extreme example is in Badass Buspass Impasse, where getting times under 40 seconds is very dependent on getting good forward/back boost ratios.  You can have perfect movement on that stage and still end up with a 41.0 or 42.0 just because of bad boosts.

The NeoTokyo run is up.
Complete. Global. Saturation.
I'd redo that one. The one thing you need to do for all segments is work on your aiming. Taking into account that you know what you did wrong last time in terms of movement and skippable stuff, you still encounter major trouble when it comes time to kill people.

I know it isn't perfect, but it sure beats the heck out of my old one.

Don't expect to see many more of these for a while, as i just bought GoldenEye. I already love it and I'm up to Bunker 1.
Yes, a worthless avatar riding my posts.
Uh...you mean you're playing Goldeneye 007 for the first time? wut?

I guess it's inevitable you'd love it though. Timesplitters 2 is a cheap knockoff of Perfect Dark which was a perfected version of Goldeneye

I should watch some of these Timesplitters 2 level runs. I have the game, I've played it a bit and maybe I could contribute to the discussion

First of all, I played Goldeneye a long time ago.

second, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and TimeSplitters are all made by the same guy: David Doak.

Please don't spread fraudulent info.
I recorded a Siberia Hard run today, please check it out:

The time is around 5:18 which I feel satisfied with for the time being. If I had a DVD recorder I'd probably do a full story run (segmented) on Hard.

I played this game so much with my brothers years ago, but we are all terrible at FPS games so it took ages to beat on hard.  I would love to see a run of this, especially if it looks as good as your Siberia video above!  Very impressive!
Thank you! I'll try to do some more runs. Don't have much time to work on it though, but it'll come.
destroy them with lazers
That was an impressive run. Looking forward to the rest of them.
train kept rollin
Please get a dvd recorder, Ive been wanting to see a run of this game for so long. What you have so far looks really good.

Thanks for all the nice comments! I just improved my time to ~ 5:02 and a video will be up shortly.

Awesome level!  Very impressive.

Also, your English is not bad at all.  No need to apologize.  ^_^
Yup, this is awesome. I remember how nightmarishly difficult this game is on Hard, because I believe hard mode is designed for co-op. Do you have a speedy plan for that robot level? I remember that took a lot of lame tactics when I beat it, luring them into instant death fields and such.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll be able to figure out a good strategy for Robot Factory as well when that time comes.

Again, thanks for the comments.
hello
I love this game, sick siberia run, just thought I would show my support Smiley
