I'm going to go back in time to segments 3 and 5.

Segment 3:  Before the first rock formation, there's a secret path behind the background, that takes you up to the rolling guys on the hill.  Might save some time by skipping the spin blocks, but I haven't timed it.

Segment 5: When you have to get the key in the U of blocks, you can save yourself two flips.  The key is hidden in an alcove in the back wall.  Jump in, jump out, save a few flips.

Edit - I've watched through segment 13 now, and you can save some major time in 3-1.  Before the red pipes, hit the block that creates the ladder to where you fight Mega Koopa.  Instead of going through the door, use Peach, and float to the platform above the red pipes.  That pipe takes you straight to the end of the underground area, allowing you to skip it almost entirely.

Segment 14 - Flip earlier when you go for the posts, so you don't have to backtrack for the one.  Plus, remember that water stops your pound when fighting Blooper.  You could probably save a few seconds here.

Sadly, I can't fix those segments now, because I was an idiot and didn't make a backup file for the Tree segments. I only have 3 files to backup onto anyway, because I don't have an SD card (whenever I need one I borrow the MiniSD my dad has for his cellphone, but he doesn't like this). This means I have to keep those 45 or so seconds of mistakes. At least I'll remember to make backup files now.

I've finished Segment 18, which I did keep a backup of. I split the segment into two parts because of Youtube size limitations. Part 1 is conveniently cut off at the beginning of the boss fight, so if you're more interested in the level see Part 1 and if you want to see my Francis fight (which went near perfectly) see Part 2.

Part 1:

Part 2:
One comment, you don't need to switch to Bowser to knock the doors down in Fort Francis.  Any character can do it, all you need is Thudley.

I know, but I was using Bowser to destroy the Meowbots (he deals more damage and therefore saves time), so I thought I might as well use him to knock down the door.

I've done Segments 19, 20, and 21.

Segment 19 (Heart Pillar + First Visit to 4-1):

EDIT: The links to Segments 20 and 21 now link to their improved versions.

Segment 20 (Fishbowl + Part of 4-1):

Segment 21 (Rest of 4-1):

I think all of these went pretty well, but Segment 20 was a bit sloppy.
Yeah, segment 20 was a bit sloppy towards the end.  Do a better job dodging the asteroids and Jellyfish...  Also, just take a diagonal path to Squirps in the beginning, instead of Right and then Down.

why aren't you using Carrie?

He has been and you can't use her in space.

Carrie's also better in space.

you most certainly can. and maybe i should have said "Why aren't you using Carrie more?" there were a few points walking around in Flipside where Carrie would've saved time. Carrie should be used as much as possible.

Okay, I've fixed my Carrie problems in Segments 20 and 21, and done Segments 22 and 23 (World 4-2 and 4-3, respectively). Segment 20 was improved by 13 seconds, and Segment 21 by 9.

Segment 20 (Fishbowl + Part of 4-1):

Segment 21 (Rest of 4-1):

Segment 22 (4-2):

Segment 23 (4-3):

EDIT: Relinked Segments 22 and 23 to thier improvements.
Segment 22 had a few too many missed jumps for me to like, Segment 23 looked good, except missing the star at the end.

you've got a nasty habit when picking Pixls of scrolling the wrong way. might want to work on that.

throughout the shooting parts, i personaly would be shooting everything in my way instead of avoiding them. more points.

try not to use Carrie when you're only moving a block or two.

Seg 22 is okay. some of those jumps are tricky to get right. 23 needs a redo though.
Can't.... stop..... running!
Very fast, excellent mate!

I think you should redo segment 23, it can be so much faster!

Keep it up!

If you mean the rotating blocks, you can't kill them. They're indestructible (at least, according to Tippi). If I could, I would; they cost me a lot of time to navigate. I'll redo it anyway because of the Carrie stuff and the missed star blocks.

I've redone Segment 22, with about 16 seconds of improvement. I still miss one or two jumps, but it's not as bad as before, and I changed my route a little.

Segment 22 (4-2):

I found a neat little trick that gives you the speed of Carrie with the distance of Peach's parasol. Switch to Peach and get on Carrie, build up speed, then jump (hold down 2). When you start to descend, press 1 and Peach will get off Carrie and get off her Parasol, yet she still has Carrie's speed. I have already found a use for this in The Overthere (uploading in a minute), and it can probably be abused in some other places as well.

EDIT: The Overwhere Lift Skip

EDIT 2: Also, if you take damage from being flipped too long, try to jump just as you take damage. That way you keep momentum from the jump and keep going as opposed to being momentarily stopped by the damage.

Very nice timesaver Mr. Potter, I can't believe I didn't think of that >_<

I've improved Segment 23 by 8 seconds.

Segment 23 (4-3):

Nice trick MrP0tter. I'm sure this'll have many other uses, and I'll try to find some major tricks.
One Question: Does it take less time to do the extra switches between Fleep and Carrie, or could it be faster just keeping Fleep out until the second gate?  I don't know how much Carrie speeds you up in space, so I'm not sure.

Wow segment 23 is very good. Your doing awesome so far, keep it up!

tkrausse: Carrie speeds you up about 2x in space. Much worth the 4 or so seconds needed to switch her out.

kirby8943: Thanks.

Also, I'm faced with problem here. The Brobot fight is going to be very difficult, seeing as at my level (Level 3) my attacks don't even hurt him without powerups. The fight will therefore depend on random powerups, which expire and then I'll have to get more powerups, If there's any alternate solution that anyone knows, please tell me. (I'm planning to segment off at the room before the fight any way I do it.)

Refresh my memory, which one is Brobot?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGtkXq-14Ao
The huge robot Mr. L fights in in World 4-4 is Brobot. It's a space shooter battle with Squirps. Random chocolate powerups give you either speed, a barrier, missiles, or more attack.

Oh yeah, that boss dealt the most damage to me then any other one.
Try Bowser (really embarrising, but I forget if you can change characters in space, mainly because I never tried) and Thudley.  I forget Brobot's defense, but that should give you Bowser's doubled attack.

If that doesn't work, all I can say is save before hand and luck-manipulate yourself a good battle.
