How fast does Luigi move compared to Mario?
In no way can I beat games fast.
Well, I did some checking through test runs through Flipside, and I discovered that every 1 second Mario runs is equivalent to 1.005 seconds of Luigi running.

No Dashell, no Carrie:
Luigi: 12.031 Mario: 12.093

With Carrie:
Luigi: 09.062 Mario: 09.125

With Dashell:
Luigi: 06.141 Mario: 06.062

As you can see, Luigi beats out Mario by literally fractions of a second.

I've finished Segment 37. It's divided into two parts because it's 10 minutes long. This was a very hard segment.

Segment 37 (7-2) Part 1:

Segment 37 (7-2) Part 2:

TSSG3: Are you sure your timings are fully correct for both? I highly doubt that Nintendo would put in such a subtle difference in speed between Mario and Luigi; it seems pretty pointless.
You could've put that into one video as without 10+ minute registration, you can upload videos up to 10:59 AFAIK (for example I do not have registration and have videos longer than 10 minutes but shorter than 11 minutes).

Anyway, against Bowser, would it have been better to use Carrie to jump on him instead of using Cudge? That would allow you to jump over the flame breath and would also probably allow you to hit him when he tries to use his jumping attack, and also means you don't have to switch out Cudge.

Other than that, nice job. Why'd you light the torch in the last room though? It probably would've been 5 seconds faster or so if you hadn't.

MrPotter: In this battle, Carrie would do 1 damage as opposed to Cudge's 4 damage (Carrie does normal damage, while Cudge deals double damage. Bowser has a defense of 2). Also, I lighted the torch in the last room because it's hard for me to get through there without it.
Nice job navigating your way through the dark rooms,and good underchomp fight. I was kinda worried about that...
I still have a feeling that using Luigi for all of 7-1 would have been better (the time lost due to Luigi talking would be minimal; he navigates the pipes better). Also, his slightly higher jump might have let you get through 7-2 a bit quicker (you wouldn't clip the corner of those platforms during that LONG ascent). Actually, is it possible to use Luigi's Super Jump to cleverly get up that very fast? It seems like it should be possible, though difficult, and it would save a lot of time. You go right under a Save Point twice in this segment so you're free to break it down if there are high precision tricks to incorporate.

Doesn't Boomer do the same thing as Thudley in the Underchomp fight? If it does, you could save a few menu moves per turn by using him instead.

Also, from what I recall of 7-3, it's a Luigi-fest. You probably should have ended 7-2 as Luigi instead of as Mario. I know it's a habit from the rest of the run to be Mario as often as possible (because Peach is useless and Bowser is slow), but Luigi is every bit his equal and better in many situations. You should probably use him as much as you use Mario.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
After being neglected for so long, he deserves it.

I've done 7-3. There are a few sloppy mistakes, but nothing too major.

Segment 38 (7-3):

EDIT: replaced original link with improvement which isn't as sloppy.

Amazing Ampharos:
You can use Luigi's super-jump, but it can only skip one stair and takes longer than the regular method (at least by my timing). It's also harder. I also clip the platforms on purpose for the least decelleration so that I don't accidentally run into a Dry Bones and fall down 50 stairs.
well,that went well... I don't see anything that could go that much better since it was a 10 minute segment.

Also,I'm just wondering,but do you have you're future segments planned out? World 8 is going to be hard to speedrun without that much planning...
I noticed lots of small mistakes. A lot of them cost one or two seconds, so they weren't major mistakes, but there were a lot of them and you probably could've saved maybe 30 seconds (estimate; I haven't counted how many there are). There were a few times where it looked like you were using Luigi's super jump instead of a normal jump when a normal jump looks like it could have gotten the amount of height you needed. There was also a point or two when you held down a super jump for a bit too long and various other tiny mistakes. You should try to redo it; try to improve it by 10 seconds at the least.
Just wanna say keep up the good work on this run, I'm looking forward to watching the whole thing put together at the end. Loved the game, now I just need to see it raped from the inside out by abusing every trick in the book.

No, this isn't dead. I finally got around to improving Segment 38 (7-3), and will probably get Segment 39 done soon. This is a 44-second improvement.

Segment 38 (7-3) Improvement:

There's a sloppy mistake after getting Peach, but it doesn't cost too much time. Comments and questions are welcome.

Okay, I've done Segment 39. I split it into two parts for Youtube.

Segment 39 (7-4) Part 1:

Segment 39 (7-4) Part 2:

I decided to grab the Mega Star because I figured it would be faster than running through all that without the star. In 3D, you have to do complex 3D jumping while still avoiding the 3D bricks, and in 2D you have enemies to worry about. So I grabbed the Mega Star and ran through all the enemies without flipping into 3D, then went back unhindered. I think it was worth the 15 seconds it took for the star the grow.

nicely done. is the way you fought Bonechill the way the game wants you to? cause i did the same thing w/o using Tippi's advice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGtkXq-14Ao
No, you're supposed to pick up icicles which form on the ceiling from Bonechill's ice breath and throw them at him. But I didn't do this even on my first playthrough.

Latest segments are pretty good, though they still seem to have a few non-optimized character switches and whatnot.  No big deal, though.

While the Bonechill fight is fast as is, could it be a bit faster if you used the ground stomping Pixl after Luigi's super jump, or is that not worth the time and effort?

fuck you i wont do what you tell me
For the last boss, last form, if you use carrie (and its probably doable without), if you jump on its head right, you can push it to the right, having you fall on its body.  from there, every time you hit it, the head tries to come back, but for some reason it cant damage you, so its pushed back to the right.  you can hit its weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE.

well, no.  but you can kill it incredibly fast.

as in:

1)

       .
x      o
x    {}
x     _ _

x = platforms.
. = you (bowser for max damage)
o = head
{} = body
_ = feet (not involved).

You jump from a platform, landing on the head.  After you do that,

2)

x           .  o
x         {}
x         _ _

the head is pushed to the right, and you continue to bounce on it, while the head can do nothing to stop you (dont know about the shooting things though, my attack was huge when i did this, but it still took a good amount of bounces to kill it).

This way is minutes faster than the normal way, using the same technique, but without reload times.

Finished Segment 40 and Segment 41.

Segment 40 (Between Chapter 7 and Chapter 8 ):

Segment 41 (8-1):

Segment 40 is fairly straightforward, nothing really of note there. Segment 41 went well, especially the O'Chunks fight, in which I abused his AI for a quick and easy kill.
Watching 39 at the moment... does the ability to walk over one-block gaps not work in 3D? It might be quicker to use that to skip the mega star (and to jump across clouds around there too).

Still watching, I'll edit this post if I see anything else.

I've done Segments 42 and 43.

Segment 42 (8-2):

Segment 43(8-3) Part 1:

Segment 43(8-3) Part 2:
Visually Appealing
hmm, you probably should redo 43. not just for the space part. the Dimentio fight looked like it could've been quicker if you prepared a superjump after he shoots an energy blast and unflips.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGtkXq-14Ao
Okay, I improved Segment 43 and did Segment 44.

Segment 43 (8-3) Improvement Part 1:

Segment 43 (8-3) Improvement Part 2

Segment 44 (8-4):

Now only the final boss is left.

Uhh, what was with missing every single super jump against Dimentio?  Aren't those the easiest things to land in that fight?

Question about Super Dimentio: TSA said you could infinite jump on Super Dimentio's head for a quick kill. How exactly are you supposed to do this? I can't pull off Lazylen's trick either, and I've been trying for a while now.

I can easily beat Bleck quickly, though.'

Sometimes the super jump can just go through Dimentio, as seen in the video. This happened here.
