Super Meat Boy... ?

hello

You guys have fun with your little IL table but to me IL runs on SDA is like the leaderboards minus the best players, plus for this game I think most of the levels are too short to say an IL record means anything.
But although I wont be contributing I think the rules should be:
-no tim from braid teleport
-no alien H super jump
-no spelunky explode off screen to start faster
The teleport is pretty obvious why it shouldnt be allowed but I think they will patch all three anyway.

An SDA IL table will have one thing the leaderboards don't: videos.

If you don't want to participate, that's your choice.

There may be hacked/glitch times. You really don't know.

He is. I think he just means that since 360 already has a built in leaderboard, as long as things are glitch free, it makes more sense to just compare those times. But yeah, I mean I don't see a problem with using both. I'm sure whoever has the best 'SDA time' with their video would know that it may not be the best time ever. However, since Wii and PC doesn't have that luxury, SDA would have to prove as the go-to place for comparing those times. Unless there's some better place I don't know about, someone feel free to inform me here.

There are often entire websites dedicated to particular titles for speedrunning and Super Meat Boy may eventually have a website somewhere. But it's not entire impossible for a lot of the record times to be at SDA, especially if some of the top players are willing to submit runs here (which may or may not be the case). For example, mega man 9 had an online leaderboard and the guy who was #1 on all of them submitted to SDA, so it does happen. The people who want to get recognized usually will be posting here because this is THE speedrunning website.

With practice, even bad players can become good. The top player now may not be the top player 3 weeks from now, you never know who is gonna come along and compete and just has a nache for it.

I mean, there are definitely websites that are dedicated to speedrunning particular titles/series of games and they don't care to submit to SDA at all... kind of a shame, but I feel that eventually some of the site's best players might submit to both the main website dedicated to the particular game as well as SDA.

Just to name a few title exclusive "record websites"

I havent done too much of the 360 leaderboard yet, its all too much right now with all the 0's and not knowing whether theres any point in doing it incase they remove my times.
And to be clear I dont consider myself anywhere near the top players partly because my routing is awful, but I can get #1 rankings.
My other point about IL records not meaning much is you're going to see this on the leaderboards:
1 Player A 8.06
2 Player B 8.06
3 Player C 8.07
now can you really say player A deserves #1 over player B and C?
This will happen on almost every level with maybe 5 of the very best players who put the time into finding all the routes.

I think you're giving more weight to each IL time than is warranted. I think whoever has the best overall times will be ranked as the best, second best, etc. accordingly. ILs are nice but any one level doesn't necessary mean a whole lot.

7-8 - 5.79? I think (1st place)

6-1 - 8.01 (1st place)
6-2 - 21.92 (1st place)
6-5 - 16.8 (1st place)
6-5x - 17.89 (1st place)

All are definitely improvable. This needs to come out for Wii so I can play it when I want to.

And I'd be contributing more to this thread but I'm currently playing Call of Duty hardcore, so as soon as I achieve my goals here I'll be coming back! Also kinda just waiting on a patch. I suck at 7-xx and 7-20 so I'm not really eager to beat them without the 100% chance that they will count. Same with bandage collecting Sad

Keep hearing horror stories of the save glitch and how people get like the last week's worth of progress wiped :/

I thought it was kinda fast, but didn't record it since I didn't expect to get an "ok" time for such an annoying level. That and Teh Internets won't let me save replays Undecided

Oh by the way warp zones add to your time so if you are putting up IL tables then they count, maybe you knew they counted towards 307 but they also record a time, we arent sure quite how it works though because sometimes you improve them and it doesnt take down your overall time (and it doesnt display how fast you did it so I dont know how the game times it)

I for one would like to just see a playthrough by someone experienced with the game. I find this game VERY entertaining to watch. I've been watching live streams of it whenever available, and the rage alone is worth it :D.

I'm playing super meat boy on a laggy tv and get a bunch of speedrun times. The next day I play on a non-lagging tv and improve all my times by .2-.3. It's just dumb. I think it doubles my death count when I play on HDTVs.

The day I played on the non-lagging TV, I got #1 times for like 5 stages too. I want all the world 6 records Cheesy

I just got a new 2 ms monitor to replace my 8 ms tv. I haven't noticed anything bad about the 8ms tv but I'm hoping the 2ms will make a difference.

You do get used to whatever tv you're using when you use them enough. It's just switching from one thing to another doesn't always work out very well.

I still haven't completed every stage! Soon enough though...

If you used meat boy for any level then you're losing time, thats right yet more things to ruin the leaderboards.
