Good luck beating the rest! Most of them are hardly optimized but I can't be arsed to get back to SMB for now. Maybe you can do a better job on them.

P.S.: Thanks Cody. Smiley
Hello everybody,

I'm new in SDA and i have a question about the Super meat boy runs.
It exist two differents runs, XBOX 360 and PC.
The difference of time in these runs is really big, why?

My goal is to improve the XBOX360 run, and I think it is possible.

PS : Exo, you are really a fantastic superplayer. Your run is like a TAS

Thanks Smiley
360 and PC are different categories because of the loading times.
The 360 version has ~10 seconds of additional loading in an any% run for each world I think.
Good luck with beating that run!
SEGA Junkie
360 loses over a minute in loading times, plus 10 seconds for having to do 1-15 and 4-2 instead of faster levels. I'd actually be interested to know whether the 360 version actually loses frames between each stage in loading, I can't remember for sure if it's any different.
Main Work!!!
My run on the Xbox are about 1m30/40 slower than they was on the pc. The current Xbox run is really beatable, I think the Xbox run should reach 20min/20min30 seconds soon, if you're really interested in this game then good luck and it's always nice to have new people joining this speedrunning community Smiley !!!
Ok thanks.

For the moment i'm not ready to beat the record because my run is about 25m and I die a lot.
To capture the run, it is an obligation to make a DVD with a DVD recorder, because i would use a game capture device like the HD PVR.

Couple random runs I did when I was bored.

2-9x -  4.82 secs (don't know why I upped this, because I have a 4.78/4.79 score recorded, but whatever, feels great to play this level)

2-4x - 5.25 secs (easily could be faster, but my best Meat Boy score.  Needed to rock this in video form due to my glitched Viridian score on this level.)

4-7x - 6.72 secs (fastest score on this level to my knowledge, now to focus on 4-7, :(...

1-20 - 12.26 secs (took the Meat Boy WR here I think, still improvable, but I got annoyed with it)

4-6 - 4.58 secs

1-15x - 6.57 secs (The BEAST, took back my WR and very close to the omega point!)

Couple more

1-20x - 10.65 secs  (close to the fastest score without using the disappearing block slip)

1-15x - 6.55 secs + slowmo (Maxed out, I'd be interested to see if anyone can beat this using this strat!)

2-9x - 4.78 secs (close to being perfect, but I'm thinking maybe I can hit 4.76-4.75)

Hey, so I'm just some dude that nobody here in the speedrun community has likely ever heard of... but I just got 3.15 on 1-7 on the Xbox 360 version of the game.  Not sure if anybody cares, but just letting you know that it's possible.

I already have a 3.15 on my yt channel. The list isn't up to date.

Yep it isn't up to date anymore at all.
If anyone wants to add his times to the list, please take the list as it is, add your times and PM the list to me, I'll update the first post (or if it's only 1 or 2 times to submit, of course you can post the new times directly here). Please remember this is a list of supposedly "SDA submittable" run in that list, ie clean recordings.
I have tied a fair number of the Light World 1 times, but all I've got to show for it is the replay file and a picture of my overworld map with the time on it.

Speaking of which, I've got a question for you guys about 1-18 Altamont and horizontal momentum.  I have beaten this stage literally hundreds of time and gotten 2.00s every time.  (Unless I play it on the first run which differs the saw timing, but then I get 2.02 instead and I think meatboy is just starting 0.02s late...)  I was all ready to swear up and down that 2.00s was the fastest legit time... then my friend (who I have been having a speedrun battle with), tells me he's got 1.98s.  I insist on a screenshot and sure enough he gives me this: http://i.imgur.com/3y9EG.png

I did some digging and on the dark corners of the Internet with like 20 views is someone who made a video of a 1.98 run that, as far as I can tell, looks legit:

Kaede I see you have 1.99s in your old list.  So my question to you guys who know more about SMB speed than me is... how is it possible to get more horizontal speed than holding right from level start to level finish?  To make things more confusing, I'm playing on the Xbox 360 while my friend is competing with me on the PC... are there any differences there that make such a score possible only on the latter?

Is it even possible to crack 2.00s with any amount of skill?  Or is it some kind of timing glitch?

2.00 is a legit time. Everything else is bugged (most likely due to running the game on a mediocre PC which causes lag).
I actually hit 1.99 on my gaming rig a while back, which is a beast by any standard right now, while randomly attempting a SS.  Showed 2.10 on the replay but 1.99 on the map...

Don't really know why or how to escape little inconsistencies like this, other than play the 360 version.  As much as I love the game it really is a unpolished turd from a technical and stability perspective, even on 360.  Not really expecting Treasure/Nintendo levels of precision and accuracy in every frame and edge of the experience (generally) but one last patch would be nice, just to fix syncing and hiccups (like a option to turn off slides).

Anyway, welcome to the club Elipsis!
Good luck to Breakdown today! Smiley

Fucking insane run today bro.  By far the best in the marathon so far imo.  Rare to see someone so calm and talkative while pulling off that kind of shit.

Great run Breakdown, that was crazy! Smiley

Speaking of crazy, I'm going to be working towards a deathless 106% run in the near future.. And I need a particularly large level of help right now.. I have MAJOR consistency problems with 7-19X, it is by far the hardest level and I don't really want to wreck this sort of run on the second-last level.

I can only get it like once every twenty attempts.. I have major problems with the top corridor, and generally don't make it past the second tap-jump.. I suck at explaining. But basically, I need some tips on beating the level a little easier as no 7-19X means no run.

Obviously, there are other majorly-problematic stages in the game, such as The Kid's Warp Zone.. was just wondering if I could get a list of levels you guys think need ultimate consistency in this type of run?

Edit: Actually, no. I don't think deathless 106% is feasible. Not one bit. Techniques to avoid death (like pause-exiting) make it possible but take away a certain element of skill and charm and would kill the run in my opinion.

A deathless "all-levels" run would be much more possible without such techniques in my opinion. All levels meaning just light and dark world levels and not warp zones or glitch levels. Is there any chance this could ever become a category?

Everything is possible if you work hard enough for it.
7-19x is actually one of the easier dark cotton alley maps to do fast btw since you just need to follow the wall and don't even have to be perfect until the last part to get a good time.
Getting the fast 7-8x strat consistently is much harder imo just to name one example (not using the safe strat of course).
The only tip I can give you is to practice the last part of 7-19x until you nail it 99% of the time.

P.S.: Pause-exiting will most likely get your run rejected.

Breakdown, what you did during those two hours made my penis completely retract into my body.

Also Exo, I somehow completely missed your ss run. Those are some mad skills you've got there.

Thanks groobo. Smiley
Also very well done Breakdown! Sadly I didn't get to see the run live but I watched the recording of it.
Takuji has recently pulled off a nice 1:31:22 106% run, available on Youtube, I think it's quite worth a check Smiley
Bonus feature : he recorded his face to be seen in the lower-left corner, for people to see his disappointments or big surprises (Larry !!).

Incredible! Grats, Takuji Smiley
Congratulations to Takuji, it was a fantastic run.
i'm a GOD

Not sure if this time is legible for anything, but this one beats the IL table time of 2-4 (PC Captain Viridian)
Then again it could've been a typo, or the board is outdated Tongue
Also how does the timing work, what the replay says?
In virtual dub I went to the last frame you see the timer from the original fraps recording and it said 2.61
But replay says 2.72 Sad
I think the reference time to consider is the actual time displayed during gameplay (requires frame by frame check).
Replay time never match with gameplay time, it is a known bug that happens all the time.

The board is outdated (unfortunately).
It seems to be mostly about people posting runs here and on Youtube, so be sure to check it if you want a point of comparison.
I've got 2-4x in 4.77:

Is there a good way to find the records for specific levels? Searching in Youtube mostly gives me walkthroughs so at the moment I can only check some of the runners I know have a lot of records uploaded and skim a few pages back in this thread. I feel that method can fail to find good runs way too easy Sad
