My feelings on The Demon Rush
Quote from Zephyrz:
Dogfish is just a restaurant they they have, but they have lots of their brews of course. Actually Brewery is in Delaware if I recall correctly.

What Zephyrz said is correct. There are a bunch of Dogfish Head restaurants in the area. The brewery is definitely in Delaware because I just visited the brewery this Saturday when I was at the beach (yes, in Delaware).

I agree that the first best Indian is across the street from the Crowne Plaza, but it's also pricey (an entree is likely to set you back 20 dollars).

Reston Town Center: I have only passed by there to scope out the place. There are defintely a lot of restaurants and bars, but it's more on the upscale side of things. If that's what you want, then go for it.
Balls jerky
Aww. I didn't even know they had restaurants. Still pretty neat though.

The 1st best Indian you have never had is across the street from the Crowne hotel.

@Dxtr: Yes, but they are all shit unless we drive at least 1 hour away. I will have a car, and might consider a trip just b/c I <3 you.

RE: Reston Town Center. It is close by and very nice. Prices have gone up since I lived there, but still ok and they have some good food places/bars.

I owe you a drink if this indian restaurant actually manages to impress me (note I have enjoyed probably 3 indian restaurants (aside from places in India) my entire life and 2 of them were fusion). I was planning on going though.

I was looking around for nearby mini-golf courses and found this gem: http://www.woodysgolf.com/#/perils/

$10.25 per person is a little pricy for one course, but if 15+ of us go, it'll be about $8.70.

I'm down as long as it's not like 20 degrees. Also ideally I'd like to be wasted before going to this place.
You definitely would not want to go to Woody's drunk. It's insanely crowded most of the time and filled with young kids (meaning you play for about 20 seconds and then wait another two minutes for the next hole). If you want to mini-golf drunk, your best bet would be to go to Top Golf in Alexandria. It's quite a bit further away, but it would definitely be a more appropriate venue to both be drunk and golf.
Quote from Zephyrz:
For those 21+ that are going:

There's a Dogfish Head Alehouse/Brewpub approx. 6 miles away from the Crowne.
There are quite a few breweries around the area too that offer tours/tastings.

Too bad 19 isn't legal in 'Murica. In Canada, I am legal. nnnngh, beeeeeeer. I'll bring my own.

I'm alright with crowded/sober mini-golf personally, but this seems like a solid option too. 40 minutes away isn't too bad and the holes look decent enough. Hell, maybe we could do both if we have enough mini-golf fanatics going.
Life is short, Drink amazing beers!
So, let me introduce myself really quickly. I live in Frederick, MD and am a big advocate for watching speedrunning. But I am an even bigger advocate of drinking good beer. I am interested in making the trip to AGDQ 2014 over the winter break and I am looking to head out at least one night to a good bar in the area to drink some beer with a couple of people that are attending AGDQ. I can bring some good bottles of beer from MD to split with a couple of people, but I would like to gauge the interest in craft beer from SDA. It seems like Dram, Runnerguy, and a couple others are interested in trying some good beer one night. I want to see what the interest is before I make a commitment to attending as well as the different beers I should bring if we get a decent response.

If all goes well, I'm thinking this place (http://www.carpoolweb.com/) would be a solid bet. If not, oh well it was worth a try...

Let me know what you guys think! If you have a beer preference and want to show up, let me know and I can try to get a good beer you would like!

Thanks.
I'm definitely down for bowling if some others are interested.

On a different topic, I don't know if others are interested in having Rock Band available to play, but I was somewhat sad when Rock Band didn't get set up at AGDQ 2013 until the day I left. Is anyone bringing Rock Band again this year? I could bring it if no one else can, but I likely won't be at the marathon the entire time.
YOU DARE NOT.

I like good beer. I'm actually considering grabbing a few bottles of beer from Jolly Pumpkin and bringing that with me. They have some pretty amazing beer.

I brought Bulleit Bourbon to SGDQ, I can bring some Racer5 or another Cali beer to AGDQ if people prefer beer over hard liquor.

Edit: Oh shit, the carpool place has Racer X on draft. daaaaang.

It was pretty warm last year, and from what I understand it doesn't get that cold in the winter. We should be fine.

I say bring it anyway, you'll find a few people there who'd be interested in playing. Hell I'm bringing my bass anyway so it might be fun to play worse than someone with a controller Smiley
Crawlathon WR, get down on my level.

If you call an average high of 42F to be "not that cold", sure Tongue

A pub crawl requires watching The World's End (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1213663/) before hand...
