I've been looking for my copy of Star Fox Adventures to see if its worth speedrunning, but was never able to find it. So I thought, why not dust off a copy of a similar game that's way more fun?
Has anyone heard of this game? It's similar to BG&E, in that its a great sleeper title, except in this case, even fewer people have heard of/played it. Gameplay is very similar to OoT/SFA, although I'm not sure if this game or SFA came out first. Either way, it's a hell of a lot better than SFA, at least from my perspective.
The basic story of the game is a cursed mummy and warrior (two seperate characters) are trying to take down some evil king, except they're doing it without any real knowledge that the other person is trying to do so as well. Through the adventure they end up helping each other out without even realizing it. For example, one character might collect an item they have no use for, but the other character comes along it and it becomes a great help. There's no switching between characters, a la Resident Evil 0, but rather once a chapter is completed, it will often switch to the other character permanently until the chapter is complete, and go back-and-forth.
Sphinx (the name of the warrior) is the equivalent to Link in this case. Runs around towns, goes through a few dungeons/bosses here and there, etc. The Mummy... not so much. The mummy is 100% puzzle platform, and actually can't die. It sounds weird, but it works extremely well.
For a game developed by THQ, it's actually a very good game. I'm looking into speedrunning this game, and I think if none of you have heard of/played it before, you should give it a look. Unfortunately, due to its popularity (or lackthereof), I don't know of any breaks. I just started a runthrough, and I'm rusty since I haven't played in about 3 years or more. It does have an in-game timer, and cutscenes can't be skipped.
