Ok Re-did my Sniper: Ghost Warrior one because it was too long ..... This death happens 25 frames after I gain control (and i'm able to die ) @60FPS making it like around 0.41 Seconds. WOOP WOOP
Anodyne: Softlock caused by "Talking stones" Glitch which makes all portals no longer work (Time : 28 seconds) Edit: you also don't have control anymore your character auto walks whichever direction
And if save glitching counts then I guess I kind of beat my old run hl2ep1 ded% by quite a bit using the intro cutscene.
This works by saving on the first tick of the map and then loading the save, you can move freely in the intro custcene for a short bit until the next part of the cutscene starts.
441 ticks + 1 tick = 6.63 seconds Still improvable, I think, I am just too lazy.
@shoup: technically, that is negative time? You die BEFORE the usual timing starts @KN4life: added. what time (8 or 11 seconds) do you want on the frontpage? I used 8 seconds for now.
Half-Life I always knew you can get out of the intro train, never knew how to properly do it. The way I did it is by lowering my fps to 5, but I think there's a way to do it without fps change, but I'm just bad. I am also bad at timing goldsrc demos, so I am not sure if my times are 100% correct. ded% - 7.04 - timed up to the tick of the dead sound
softlock% - 4.6 (not sure if you are able to get back on the train from the rails, if yes then the time would be the time I hit the tunnel/jump off the rails)
Behold some amazing footage of Garfield 2 - A Tale of Two Kitties! for PS2:
In the softlock%CATegory we can see a few wonderfull OoB glitches within seconds of starting a New Game, followed by a marvelous softlock in a record time of [0:30]
But it doesn't end there! There's an even faster way of softlocking the game, which I will from nowforth name Softlow%. Here the game fails to load entirely after the first cutscene, clocking in at [0:00] gametime. Enjoy!
Sonic 2 in 5 seconds. Sonic 3 and Knuckles (as Tails) in 4 seconds.
Those are just for the first death, if it's to GO then it's 14 in Sonic 2 (timer stops earlier on GO deaths) and 12 in 3.
Also I was thinking, amusingly enough one of the worst series for this would be Metroid. I mean in Super iirc you'd have to go all the way to getting Morphball before anything can even kill you?
Hehe would be fun to see people actually having to have skill in the game itself to get a "quick" death And sure take your time! I add everything that gets posted until it gets too much for me to handle
I have contacted the original SDeathsA host and we might collab to make this bigger

Would it be possible to go over the rails on foot and skip the intro?
I had a competition with someone else over dieing as quickly as possible in Gothic some time ago. I ended up with 7.633s:
Mission Impossible for N64 dieinstantly% done in 1.05 seconds.
(In theory it's a little lower, but I'm not sure EXACTLY when character control in gained, so I'm doing it from the first frame after the cutscene. I do know when control ends though, so that's hunky dory)
Bumping this because I couldn't find it in the OP. (/egotrip)
@Blubbler, no that doesnt work, because you have to lower your FPS - meaning, you would have to play through the entire game like that... Added your Gothic run too
@Softman, sorry I dont know how I missed that... Added.
@BlackCatGaming, added aswell Thanks for submitting, all of you ^.^
