Saw people damage boosting past the 3rd lava pot, but there's a way to do it without using the pot at all. It does seem to be a very precise move though. See below (I know I could use the attack to skip pogo'ing the bottom block).
Using the first frog can help you get through this screen faster, but only appears to do so if RNG is on your side. Haven't noticed a way to manipulate them.

you can hit the plant and then cancel it into a jump downstab, you have just enough time to get on the platform and jump to the edge of the ledge, then over the frog, not sure how much slower it is, but it's 100% consistent
don't use the frog, hit the plant and then cancel it into a jump downstab, you have just enough time to get on the platform and jump to the edge of the ledge, then over the frog, not sure if it's faster in the grand scheme of things, but it's 100% consistent
For those curious, this is the way Sent is saying to do. It appears they take about the same amount of time. Frog is swag then.
Real quick Mr. K. I haven't actually mentioned this on here, I mentioned it on IRC, but I found a trick that when you go into a fight with an enemy on the overworld map, then exit to title screen and reload the file, you'll stay in the same tile, but the enemy won't interact with you until you move back onto the tile, which is a way to skip the second Black Knight fight. If that proves worth it to use, then we can't use IGT.
Wow, I ran lich yard and pridemoor keep in NG+ in under 3 minutes, but these tricks you're doing make it seem kinda trivial haha.. Heres the vids anyway maybe you'll find something.. Pridemoor keep:
It's been mentioned a lot. Honestly, a lot of us have been talking on the IRC channel a lot more than on here. Not necessarily the best thing, since it's not recorded as well, but that's just how it is it's easier to talk there, so I'd recommend checking it out.
I found a way to skip almost all of the anchor platforms in the Iron Whale.
Skipping the second anchor is easy, but jumping on the corner of moving anchors is really precise. Waiting a second for the fish wizard guy to fire his bolts and using them to pogo over the four-anchor gap is a lot safer and just a tiny bit slower.
This is my run from yesterday that doesn't use any relics: http://www.twitch.tv/cptbrian/c/4551069 1:24:18 RTA It was my any% before any relic routing, which now consists of quick kills and skips, as seen in this thread.
For the clocktower run if it's an any% it's practically as close as it will get but if it an 100% run I suggest using the fishing rod on the second stage of the bossfight when he charges into the wall.
This is going to be my first, no-doubt game that I'm going to run and I'm so glad people are on this game so quick. I just started playing it since last night and off the bat, thanks to watching runs of other games, I've been using some of the strats you guys have posted (ie. mini boss run-bys, flying dagger). I'll try to contribute to this as much as I can.
So we're going for the any% route. Uhm... fine with me.
I tired messing around with the frog skip but the results are underwhelming.
The most consistent way I found to make it jump towards me is to hit it up close, wait still for it to land and hitting jump+left the frame after it lands otherwise, if you jump the same frame it lands, it will jump away from you. I also tried to see if standing still after you hit it would change the results based on how far away you were from it but it didn't seem like it so I'm inclined to think it reacts to your movements.
The problem with this method is that I ALWAYS bonk my head under the moving platform. I get it to jump towards me almost everytime but I can't make use of it.
Otherwise every other setup I tried seemed pretty random so I guess it's not worth it to risk it. Anyway a more intensive check is required.
