Wow, very nicely done. I'm shocked you could improve your run so quickly, and do a great job to boot. For the most part I only noticed a couple of minor errors (mostly standing and stabbing a guy you could have stabbed while jumping), that probably didn't add up to more than a few seconds. The other mistakes were mostly mistakes around ladders, and anyone who has played Rush 'n Attack knows how stupid ladders are.
I did notice you didn't get the grenades in stage 5 though, and I think I know why. The guy holding the grenades won't appear when there are too many sprites on the screen. When you passed by the area where the guy holding the grenades was supposed to spawn, there were at least four enemies in front of you, which is why he didn't spawn. I think even if you had to turn around and stab all four of those guys while standing (which is unlikely), it would have saved some time on the parachuters in the long run.
While I had many reservations about your last run, this is a well-optimized run that gets a thumbs up from me.

Definitely. If anyone were to try to best my run, using the grenades on the paratroopers in stage five would probably be the best way to do it.
first level - pretty much perfect second level - 4 second error. third level - deaths... I'm primarily good at levels 1-3, 4-6 give me problems usually.
There's no way that game should be that quick or easy. Granting, you might have had to have actually played the game to appreciate that, but damn, nice run.
Does anyone know about a secret tunnel that is supposedly located under a mine in Rush 'n Attack? I've heard about this tunnel, but I've never been able to find it. Using the tunnel might save time.
I remember hearing or reading about this tunnel about 15 years ago. And some people on YouTube wrote these comments:
Guy 1: "Nice run! Its been years since I played this, so I don't recall...would it be faster to use a tunnel under one of the land mines?"
Me: "I've heard about this secret tunnel before, but I've never been able to find it. Isn't it supposed to be in stage four?"
Guy 1: "Well...I just ran through the whole game twice, destroying every mine in the game, and I couldn't find it. I remember finding it as a kid on the console though."
Guy 2: "I believe it was only found in the Japanese Famicom version of stage 4. It's at the part where you pass the red brick wall with the mortar soldiers. You'll come to a 2-story area with a high wall you can walk on. There are a set of mines on the bottom you are supposed to hit in a certain order, but don't exactly know which."
I checked an FAQ, but I didn't see anything; I didn't check the FAQ THAT thoroughly, though.
I wish this run had been more popular. This takes a lot of skill to pull off. I might try a speedrun of this sometime, but it looks really tough to beat. I bet most people dont know how hard it is to play that well.
heh. I'm not even sure if I beat rush n' attack yet. I think maybe a few years back. I haven't played rush n' attack over 1000 times though.
Lately I've been watching a few of my favorite games being played here. Maybe I'll have to give you some competetion. I most likely will be doing a speedrun for either superc or rush n' attack while working on my other speedruns. I haven't made up my mind though.
I really enjoyed your run though. Keep em' coming.
I cant find it... I guess I'll keep on trying for smb2 for now. Your run was very well played and would require a bit of training for me to beat it. Very fun game though. One of my favorites to play with friends.
So are you getting the grenades to use against the paratroopers?
heh.
Of course. The game is so dumb when too many enemies are on screen though.
EDIT: The last level boss, I've been having trouble with for some reason, as well as climbing up certain ladders without jumping. :(. I guessn you can't easily prevent some things in this game though.

Here's a video that shows the secret area. Apparently, it's not in the US version of the game.
