Hey everyone, I recently picked up this game and decided, that I'd like to be a part of the speedrunning community.
To get to the point: I found a few skips, while messing around. Most of them have already been found, but after a few hours of playing around, I found this one:
I think this is a new one. It does skip getting the Molotov, but as far as I tested it, that doesn't lead to a softlock later on. If you want advice on how to do it, just look into the video description.
You can't only use this to skip some of the story. You can also use it to get Broadhead Arrows early, but I don't know if that is of any use. Apart from that, after reaching the first plateau you can jump up the slope to the left and explore further out of bounds. I havent yet found any use for that thogh. I hope this skip helps, as I put the better half of a day into figuring it out.
After spending about 15 minutes on this I can confirm that this is my first successful skywalk ever, going to keep practicing it so I can use it in future runs.
Managed to continue this skip even without the ability to grab the high platform, hard to complete it cause no rope arrow to the mine entrance :>
There is this OoB in the Syria water puzzle, it is very easy to get... you have to press S and back scramble to start the glitch on the rock as I do, then press AS to make her move to the left until she gets stuck then slowly aim ccw and you should get it. It is also a nice combo with the new water puzzle strats from Moxxii so you can do it without the water.
Hmm, the Pistol keeps disappearing from my inventory after I go to the prison. I did get it via the oob but reloaded checkpoint right after getting it. Has anybody got any idea as to why that keeps happening?
@Truljin yea, you have to get rope arrows first it seems. but it still saves 2 minutes over what we were doing before.
@Lim3Fru1t Sad to say but we already have an OOB for reaching the pistol early that is done as soon as you exit the cave and campfire then going down the rope that leads to this place, hope you keep looking for more stuff though!
so molotov skip aka tree climbing OOB actually is pretty easy but i am having a hard time to clip that door if anyone has a good setup pls make a video i

Nice, I wasn't aware about these water puzzle skips, I'll do some tries.
@Leemyy It happened to me in my last run. I was really surprised when I saw that the gun disappeared and then it reappeared later in the game... I play on X360 btw and it is the first time it occurs so it's clearly related to the newest skips, I'd say new bear skip way, shack skip or prison break, it was the first time I was doing those in a run.
@TheArtisticBallistic I knew about that oob in Syria. But I didn't find any use to it. Well actually you can skip rising the water, but it slower. When I've done it the water wasn't raised already though. How did you do that ? To spawn underwater
If your Lara doesn't spawn underwater you're not cool enough sorry @Moxxii Fill room with water --> go oob --> swim / dive to entrace --> trigger checkpoint --> reload.
I wasn't very successful at the house... and im not very sure about the time save of it... but here is how I got in.. mabye it's better to get to the other side of the bridge and trigger the next level from that position.
Finally... Finally I understand how to be cool. I'll work hard to spawn my Lara underwater, and one day you'll be proud of me Sir ArtisticBallistic. I'll be one of the cool kids too, just like you <2
But I'm starting to think these clips work better the lower your framerate is. Just for reference, I'm clipping this door at 20 FPS and it takes me no more than 2-3 attempts.
Well it seems Eydas was a bit quicker to react. I did some rough timing and as far as I can tell, the Tree Skip can save about 3min, if done quick. That is, not taking later time loss due to missing molotovs into acount. Anyways, here's a video of the full thing: (Should be up shortly)
At first I was also struggling to get through the door, but this setup works fine, even at high framerates. You just have to stand in front of the door and look away from the wall at about 45°. Then just hold DOWN and do a normal double aim. It might take a few attempts, but you sould get stuck on the door frame, which will allow you to turn towards the wall, without getting pushed back out. Hope I could help, feel free to ask again, if my explanation wasn't comprehensive enough.
