Here is the full echoing caves door skip, but using a different method to swim above water:

Nice. It looks like you could swim to some lums while doing that trick. The five near the starting platform are probably pretty fast, and the five near the door are also worth considering.

I found a small timesaver in the Walk of Power:

EDIT: I found a very consistent way to make the first cycle in Cave of Bad Dreams. I described the method here:

I try to go fast
I am so happy about that consistent setup for making the fast cycle Cheesy Great job, as always!

Thanks. That trick always bugged me because it was so inconsistent.
hi everyone,

I am a newbie and beginner to the speedrunning community, but I would like to start speedrunning the one game I played very quickly due to having no memory card on ps1 - Rayman 2: the great escape!

My question is - is emulator allowed for any%, or the one category which is 'fastest'? if not, what version should I obtain, preferably doable on a pc?

Sorry if I am asking on the wrong subforum, tried to check any info about allowed platforms, but no results.

Also very cool to see active forum on this game

I found some things today, but everything isn't directly helpful.

This one is really cool, but you die from falling too long on N64

I did a 2:35:53 100% run today. The run was sloppier than my 2:36:14, but it's nice to finally get another PR. I'll keep working on this; sub-2:35 is well within reach.

Welcome. Emulators are not allowed, but you can use any official release of the game. Most people play the N64 version, but some play the PC version. There are also some people who play the PS1 version, but it's pretty drastically different.

Nice. I wonder if that glidewalk can be done anywhere else.

thank you, will obtain the pc version then Smiley
So with the above water glitch being found, it also does save time in 100%, although it's probably riskier. It saves around 30 seconds if you skip all the switches and get the above water glitch first try. Also, here I throw the plums on top of each other to get the glitch, which I think is more consistent. It's still not really consistent but if there's a way to make it more consistent, it may be more viable to do in a run so it can be gotten as fast as possible.

Found some stuff again, this time I actually got some height in this game. Look at the descriptions of both videos to see what I have to say for the rest... Tongue

I don't mean to spam the forum with useless stuff, but I made a compilation of clips I found, all of which are useless.

BLARGHHH
wouldnt that second one be useful in a run?

Cool finds. As thundacats said, the second one looks like it would save time in 100%. I'll have to try it out on N64, though it seems a lot of clips only work on PC.
I try to go fast
I have tried the second one pretty extensively on N64 and I couldn't get it to work :/

Well, that clip would be slower than the other clip I found in this level (I think), so I don't know if this would be faster...

This happened to me today. Any thoughts? Tongue

I did a 2:34:48 100% run today. It's good to finally get sub-2:35; that's been a goal of mine for a while. The run was really nice all the way through Echoing Caves. I started making more mistakes in the Precipice, but I kept it together and didn't have any major time losses. This was without the Water and Ice door clip, though. I figured I would get a good run without it before trying to incorporate it in my attempts. Now that I've done that, I think I'll start using it. Sub-2:34 seems like a good goal for the time being.

Cool. I can't think of a place to use it, though.

Wow, congrats! Will you upload it?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Sure, I'll try to get it up today or tomorrow.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
So I found a way to get consistent above water swimming in Fairy Glade 1 both on N64 and PC! Cheesy
On N64 it saves around 40 seconds (compared to ThatGermanGuitarDude's last PB), on PC a bit less but it's still faster by around 30 seconds.

I call it the "Sun Skip" on N64 (as you swim past the sun). Here's a video on how to do it:

The PC version is called the "Hairless Skip". Here's how to do it:

Awesome finds! And you even made it to the loading zone without the air refill code. I'll have to try this out.

EDIT: I've been playing around with it. Walking underwater isn't too hard and could probably be fairly consistent with practice. Starting the airswim is the hard part. I haven't been able to start an airswim (or even a regular swim) from the spot Sobinist used. In other places, I can start a regular swim, but not an airswim. There's a spot I've been using where I've gotten a few airswims, but I'll be on the lookout for the most consistent spot.
I try to go fast
I will make a video on it when I get home today. There is a spot at which it works better. You can't really reach the surface on N64 without switching to high res (in the spot from Sobinist's video). There is a different spot though, where you can do it on low res. It should also be faster, since you have to swim a shorter distance.
I figured out a swimming-above-water-method of which I think it's more consistent. It makes walking below water harder than getting above water with underwater physics

Also, yesterday I got a new PB on PC 100% which means I de-rusted enough. It had some choke points, but not as major as last PB. Prison Ship went way better than last time (even if a little sloppy still Tongue ). Too bad I couldn't use the Prison Ship 2 strat, but it's ok if I can't use it.
I try to go fast
I made this video while procastinating to study. Hope it helps Tongue
