Maybe, but there are other potential applications.
missed that:

And cage 45 that you get early by getting a plum up against the wall so you can clip through the wall, does that work on PC?
It will almost certainly work on PC, but depend on your framerate. The slower your PC, the easier you can clip through walls. With like 5fps you can just go through any corner. My choice would be to not use wallclips on PC due to that. (or abuse it to its full extent with programs to slow your PC down, but inbetween is inconsistent imho)

I don't think I'd make use of that. I'm not playing a game with a really sad framerate, that just makes the game too unplayable. Speaking of framerate. Whenever I'm not recording I have no frame-drops and when I'm recording it does drop frames a little bit. And there are 3 spots in my runs that are cycle-based, and for whatever reason, depending on whether I record or not, those cycles are always the same. Like, when I'm not recording, I can always get the early skull-cycle in Cave of Bad Dreams, but when I record, it's impossible. And this is the same for the laser cycles in Fairy Glade, except there they're going in my favor when I record. It's really dumb and I can't really do anything about that.
Looking forward to your 100% run Manocheese. I never knew that the cages did not count toward the 100% counter. I've never beaten the game 100% so I would not know. >_>
I have not had any attempts at a single segment run since Monday. I feel like I need a short break before starting more attempts again. I do not want to burn myself out.
* I'm still a bit confused as to why you don't get all the cages. thundercats tells me that all the leaderboards say that the cages need to be hit as well. Is that something that's exclusively decided on SDA? Because all 100% runs before this all broke all 80.
I've never heard of these leaderboards, but the SDA admins decided in 2008 that 100% would be defined using the in-game percentage counter.
Okay, so I've been doing it wrong all this time. Well, that at least explains 1 out of 18 minutes you save as opposed to my run, because I just got all of them
I messed around with Uglette's cutscene in Iron Mountains, and somehow I managed to gain control of Rayman in the cutscene. I only don't know how I did it, considering you need to move forward in order to trigger it, so you may be able to apply this to any cutscene like that by doing some crazy execution (whatever it is). But when I got it, I death-warped and after the cutscene ended it just put me in the ship like normal. I also noticed that if you hold the button for first-person-view while you make the ship explode, you zoom in on an invisible Rayman that's on top of the water and usually when I do that I skip Rayman's respawning animation (so it's possible on PC after all ).
I've also had it happen that when I respawned, my pause menu button became disabled and all sound effects were gone. If you hang on a ledge while also being in the trigger box, a second Rayman in mid-air shows up and you soft-lock the game (you only have control over the sidestep-camera and the arrow keys for only the camera, if that makes sense) and that'll only happen if you end up well within the trigger box. So maybe if it was possible to jump to the next bridge, you may pass the trigger box and avoid that soft-lock, if that leads to anything, but it seems just barely out of reach.
What are some of ya' up to lately? I have had school, and I usually fall asleep for like 5 hours after school so I don't have time for runs. Also I got Sonic Colors... well actually my sister got it for me a few years ago and I just got around to playing it so that has occupied my time. Plus, rayman 2 runs are somewhat long in my opinion. Not windwaker hd by any means, but I still get pretty bored until the second half of the game. Early game cutscenes :/
My days are full everyday until Sunday. I have not had much time for runs and have not played Rayman 2 in a few weeks. When I have more free time I will get back to working on my single segment runs.
Yeah, also sometimes I just don't feel like doing runs. I might try doing a multi-segment run soon, the goal being sub 2:03 or sub 2:04, I am working on a route. I'm probably gonna aim for blue orb skip 5th or 6th jump.
Even though I didn't really feel like doing anything related to Rayman 2 lately, today it did cross my mind that I never tried using the End button while doing the Double Death Warp Glitch. So I decided to take a quick look. It turns out that when Rayman is in it's frozen state, pressing End reveals that there's a second Rayman you actually have control over. The only problem is that pressing End only works once every 2 seconds and when it works it keeps zooming in towards the frozen Rayman. While Rayman is frozen you can however go in first-person view, aim the screen towards the start of the world and you'll see the second Rayman from there. It seems that pressing End is the only way to semi-aim towards the active Rayman and since the camera keeps going away from Rayman, you can't really do anything with it. So the only real way to see what Rayman is doing is by doing the first-person-view-method, which still means messing around with this makes the game become kinda unplayable, because while you can see Rayman, the perspective / camera angle is what kills it. And the moment you death-warp, you crash the game.
From this state I managed to activate Sssam's water-sliding sequence. But triggering the next loading-zone or death-warping halfway doesn't do anything strange. What is strange however is that as soon as you ride with Sssam, your health bar reverts to what it should've been, which makes me think that in the glitched Rayman's state there are 2 seperate health bars. The dead Rayman is the frozen one, and the active one's health is the same as what your HP should've been. Also, because the camera is focused on the frozen Rayman means the entrance portal despawns, so even if you press End to get the camera somewhat closer; it just won't load.
If anyone can trigger the Jano cutscene from here, I'm interested to see it, because I sure can't get there. It's too hard
The exact reasons are rarely made public, but it's usually a combination of being too long, too obscure, or too boring. Games that have never been in a marathon get a boost, so the fact that the game was in SGDQ a while back doesn't help.
Hm, why German? I didn't listen to the video by the way, I was too lazy to plug in the headphones. But yeah, treasure speed run would be pretty fun I'd say.
Because it's going to be hilarious while I make fun of the dialogue, duh! And since I've never done a race before and I've never done one with you, makes it a good idea to start with a not-so-serious, short race. And I think applying Any% strats on that shouldn't be too hard since I only need 100 Lums for one gate.
I found something really random when messing with the Double Death Glitch again. I actually found this a week or two ago, but I assumed I was going crazy. This time at some point I ended up hearing bleeping and blooping and I also ended up seeing something flickering in the game. After investigating this, I found out that I was looking at the actual imputs I did in the game. And it reads literally every letter and every arrow imput in Japanese or whatever. Then there's also a part that has 1 til 5 to 9 on it. Also, when I randomly do imputs, after a certain amount of them, it start bleeping again and then every time I do an imput it does the bleep.
I caused this weirdness to happen when I gained control of the invisible Rayman during the Ssssam-cutscene. Although it seems to be very random and I don't know how it triggers and why. I was actually able to drag the mouse cursor (blindly) over some of the imputs I made, meaning the mouse could play a role here. Also, while this flickery stuff was active, when I did the Double Death Glitch, when I got to Rayman's frozen state, I actually didn't end up with 0 health and also the music was gone. So......arbitrary code execution?!?
Maybe this is debug mode... Is there maybe someone who can translate this stuff? Also randomly got it here, while messing up Jano's facing direction
(As a little off-topic-note: If you hold F1 as you enter Jano's "you can't enter" cutscene, the first time you trigger it, allows you to go into the portal that's there, which'll cause you to shrink in size after the cutscene. So that explains that weirdness that Luke found)
Do you know if there are any inputs that you cannot use, but are still in the code? It would be cool to see if there was some moves or jumps that were removed but remain in the code.
