I did a 2:36:14 today. I wasn't expecting such a big improvement over my 2:38:23; my run today had quite a few mistakes, although none were huge. I'll be going for sub-2:36.
Well done on the improvement. How low do you think you can get?
I found my old dazzle capture card and got it to work with my mac. The only problem I am having now is there is buzzing when I capture videos. I think it may be how I have routed everything. I have a double ended Rca cable going from my television into 3 splitters. My console rca cables are going into the splitters as well. The yellow splitter goes into my dazzle while the red and white splitters are going into a audio adapter that plugs into my computer. Does anyone have experience with dazzle that could help?
Hopefully you can make out what this looks like. The dazzle dvc 100 cannot record audio through video glide without me hooking up the audio cables to the adapter that hooks up to my computer.
Unpowered splitters can cause signal loss, so that might be the problem. Try getting rid of the splitters and hooking the console up directly to the Dazzle. If there's still a buzzing, the problem might be with the Dazzle.
I still have the buzzing audio. You can hear what I am talking about in this video around the last 20 seconds in the video where I start the new level and am scrolling through text. I have heard slight buzzing before on runs on this site but I feel like the buzzing I get is louder than most. I may just buy some powered splitters or a copy of windows to boot onto my macbook.
Also around 4:50 in this video in the chamber. I can hear the buzzing when my volume is maxed on my headphones or close to maxed.
Hmm interesting. Did you have your volume all the way up? Try listening in headphones if you haven't already. The thing is I don't hear the buzz when I have the volume lower, only when I have it turned up all the way or a couple decibels away from full. Would a run get rejected because of a slight buzz in the audio?
I couldn't hear it even with the volume way up and headphones on. Even if there is a slight buzz, though, I'm sure it wouldn't be grounds for rejection.
Wow, this inspires me to try at more attempts. A lot of my resets are to the baby globox skip. How consistent is the wall jump to the baby globox ledge?

Not very. It's probably not feasible for a single-segment; after a few failed attempts, you'd already be losing time.
Threads been pretty dead for a while now, An update for me is that Im busy with SSX 3 for SGDQ, although I did Rayman 2 any% run 2 weeks ago during a marathon, I was wr pace until I failed tomb jump 7 times, I was too greedy lol. I plan on going back into any% once SGDQ is over but we will see, any news on the 100% runs Mano?
Ok so I got a new pb on N64 rayman 2 today that is mediocre to say the least, it is a 2:33:22 for any%. I want to start doing 100% though, the goal being 2:50 ish. There is a player on PC who has a 2:54 and some amount of seconds that I forgot. But, when I do start doing 100%, what do you guys think would be a good starting time?
Ok, thanks. And yes I am pretty new to the game, I've only been speedrunning this game for about 2 months. My first any% time was a 3:07:xx, but I uh... well I was garbage at the game at the time (and still am). So anyway thanks, and I will start practicing and get a (decent-ish) time uploaded. I am getting a dvd recorder towards the end of august so hopefully I can get at least a sub 3 hours once I have it. Just warning though, the quality will most likely be repulsive because I'm gonna get a cheap one.
I'm going to start trying more any% attempts again. I took a long break from this game due to getting a Wii U as well… I've also tried speed running a couple other games but found out I was not having as much fun as I did planning them. My goal is going to be a low 2:12 for now. I would want a low 2:10 or sub 2:10 in the end.
Good to hear. Real life has made it tough for me to speed run lately, but I do want to get back to doing 100% attempts and hopefully get sub-2:35 before submitting.
I'm not sure if you knew about this manocheese, but you can skip a green lum in the 2nd sanctuary so, rather than using the plum to return, you just death warp and it literally saves minutes.
You can reach the ledge either by jumping off of the plum or just a regular jump. I switched to high res on the second trick cause the lag helps a bit I believe. These are risky cause you can waste a minute if you fall in the lava. There may be a way to get the plum in the room without grabbing the green lum.
