No its far too much bother with that. I know i say things and end up doing something different lol but chozo skip is just a silly really. i'd love to see someone in the future do a chozo skip and then continue doing a great run. Segment three will be against phantoon which is my upcoming segment.

Also on the side i've been attempting that SS 34 as well. It seems i couldn't resist a bit of SS action. It was bad today lol. Got to tourian. Finished off all the metroids and was left with one less super than minimal requirement. So after Giant metroid drained my health, i decided to shoot the pink door to the right with missles before rechargin health and missles in the room on the left. What did i do ? i accidently used a super instead of normal missles that i was going to replenish :-[ of course you cant replenish supers at those replenish stations. My god i kicked myself to death after that fail hahaha. could have been a 34 as well Angry
YES !! i done it SS 34. hope to send it as soon as . wooooohoooooo

Think im gonna forget my segmented run now coz im pretty sure i aint gonna get 33. this 34 has drained my soul. one of the hardest things ive done in my life lol
we have lift off

Awesome, could you put it up on youtube because it will take a while for it to get up on SDA?
Also is this the equivalent to a 0:31 NTSC?
hehe yea cheers  Smiley ill see if i can get that on youtube very soon. As for it being 31 NTSC equivelent. yes i believe it is. Although i havnt watched it through yet. only done it like an hour ago lol. i decided to rely on my consistancy in this run as opposed to super fast boss battles so a decent three rounder on phantoon is on it.  failings elsewhere on the run are few and far between. im so proud of it. 33 is possible but would require almost inhuman consistancy. who knows i might attempt that in the far future.

I did not expect you to get this thing done THAT fast!

Congratulations on getting 0:34. In a single segment. I am looking forward to see that thing =)

Wooooooo~~!!!

Congratulations behemoth!  I look forward to seeing the finished product.
YES!!!!!!!!  That was quick.  Awesome!!!  Congratulations!!!  Pls put on youtube Smiley Shocked Shocked Grin Grin
Thanks every body. I'm half way through the stage of getting it on to SDA. Unfortunaty i'm away for the weekend. Here is the speed run folks

Well when i started the thread on this forum i was all set to do this time but i just needed some clearing up to do on the bosses and to let everyone know what i'm doing. So it was allways gonna be done quite quickly

I'll probabaly leave super metroid alone for a few weeks or a month to recover and then after that i'll be back to start work on a 100% run. I think i could get 56 minutes on this. My aproximate calculations tell me this is roughly equivalent to 50 NTSC. My best time is 58 minutes.

I'll still be able to come on this forum to talk about the run and stuff so feel free to ask questions.  Smiley

Thanks once again. It's people like you that make all this worth while who show a common appreciation for speed running as being more than just a pass time. It's definately a hobbie  Grin

Great watch. Wish you luck with the 100% run.
Great job, giganotabehemoth87! Very nice run, indeed!
Congrats  Grin can't wait to see this run!! RIGHT NOW Shocked Youtube?? WTF

good luck for your 100% attempt

Cheers
Very Impressive run!  Congrats again
welcome to the machine
That wasn't bad at all.  Can't wait to see a high-quality version.

Impressive. For a single segment run this is pretty damn solid.
Thanks you very much everybody.  Smiley Using a different computer so i just come on as a guest

Certainly the best run i have ever done. I do believe it's somewhere in the late regions of 34. Something like 34 and 40 seconds. As you probably saw there are some unforgivable mistakes in there that i hardly ever make in practice.

In ceres i failed to get a damage boost off a falling tile which was a bit annoying. In the next room i hit Some smoke coming out of the ledge. These puffs of smoke are very unpredictable on PAL and there wasn't much i could have done about it. On the whole though ceres isn't that important.

Crateria shaft - Issues with wall jumping for some reason on that day. Also my upward shots were well........ weren't shooting up before i started wall jumping.

Missed the little wall jump after the huge jump just to the right of the norfair elevator on the way to Kraid. Annoyingly i actually jumped far enough to reach for a wall jump so there's no excuse there.

After grabbing the speed booster and began running back you''ll notice i stopped in my tracks on the first slope. This is a completely unforseen problem here. It either happens or it doesn't. Simple as that. (obviously some technical reason) but it might just happen on PAL too i don't know.

The shinespark across the spikes to the chozo that takes you down to the gravity suit. I Failed to get a shinespark. That's because i didn't start running from further back. Strangely in practice i always start further back than that.

I think i could have three rounded draygon if i activated the third shinespark a little bit higher into draygons head but i'm not entirely certain if it would have killed him/her.

At the beginning of lower norfair. After speed boost space jumping through the pillars and into the next room i shot up to freeze the golden pirate above your head when you enter. Unfortunately it killed him as well which totally disrupted my usual strategy for that room. I should have stood slightly further to the right for my shot which would have caught the edge of his sprite therefore it wouldn't have got hit twice by the beam essentially.

Two rooms before ridley's lair when i was running in the larva and prepared a shinespark i jumped up too early and hit the swooping bat. Low enough on health as it was i didn't want to do a shinespark into the eye door guarding his lair and drain my health further. Taking on ridley with low health turns him into a killer. No it seriously does, he will kill me the lower my health is lol.

On the way to tourian at the top of the sandy bit in brinstar. I wanted to run speed boosting through that set of bomb blocks by delaying speed boost itself until after i pass the speed boost blocks in the floor. As soon as i pass them i press and hold B and samus turns blue and i run straight through the blocks ahead of me. It seems i messed up in the room before because after i shot for the door i began running too early and i knew i would hit the door after running so i slowed samus down on purpose. Even when i held B in the next room for the entire time she didn't turn blue. Had to use a power bomb instead.

All other little mistakes were entirely my fault.

After watching the run you come to realise ( well i do ) that if you take all those mistakes away. Add a chozo skip at the biginning and two rounding phantoon then 33 minutes is probably the human limit which is certainly within reach. Do you all agree ?

I might attempt this again later this year. As it stands though i'm very pleased with this run. One minute from my limit !  Grin

Also does anyone know if Hotarubi is trying to get 30 minutes NTSC ?. Since he didn't put his 31 on SDA. If he is and manages to do it then that run will be just hypnotic to watch Tongue

Congrats your run. 34 is surely awesome. I just can,t even imagine how well it is done. I haved real troubles got 44 minutes SS PAL run.

Good luck with 100% too. It is awesome see 100% PAL run too.

About Hotarubi. He is mystery person. Never answer any questions in youtube. We everybody know how long it took wrote his comment down his 14% run. This comment was absolutely crap but run itself was superb. I not believe Hotarubi will post his runs soon. He haved 100% run in 50 minutes, any-% 31 minutes and also his awesome Ninja Gaiden 2 run never are submited in SDA.

Because he not answer any questions so we can,t know anything about his submissions or progress.
This game is not easy to speed run. period . It took two and a half years of training to do that. Even though i've played it on and off since it's release. Use my run as a guide to improve your times. If your unsure how i done something just post a comment on it and i'll happily awnser  :).

I'm looking forward to doing 100%. Havn' t done it in a while though. Certain bits on it are easier and harder than any% so should provide a welcome difference in difficulty for me.

Yea hope Hotarubi continues with super metroid. I thought he wanted to get 49 or 48 for 100%. Also he submitted his 32 but not his 31. Something tells me that at the time of his 32, he was happy with it but then later realised he could shave a couple of minutes off it. So when he got his 31 he simply said ''this is my LATEST speed run of super metroid ''. Never said anywhere that he was at all entirely happy with it. So i like to believe that he is still playing it occasionally behind the scenes and then will one day surprise us all with a 30 !

After watching your run I am sure 33 is doable. It will of course be immensely harder than 34 because there's next to no margin left for anything but some rare mistakes costing not more than a second or two.
Without further skipping stuff I also agree 32 is at least needing inhuman perfection.
Master-88
I watched it through.

This run was really awesome. I just pointed out minor flaws. Though these all are impossible avoid game like this. Also Hotarubi make tons minor mistakes.

I pointed out two major time lost in this run.
1: You not skip Torizo. I agree it is freaking hard to make especially SS run.
2: Your phantoon was one round slower and eye opens not went superb but surely passable.

3: You not make crazy shinespark through room before Darygon like Hotarubi did his 31 SS run. I agree this trick is even harder on PAL than other versions, because doors open slower. It is just maybe too hard in SS run.

Your Botwoon was slow one. But i liked your style skip extra SM expansion and Draygon with shine spark was awesome intention. You lost times with Botwoon but you save a lot time when you skip extra SM and killed Draygon with shinespark. So overall this part went better than Hotarubi IMO.

Otherwise this run was super awesome. I not know will i verifer this run. But if not i still pointed out these things. But i am sure this run is overall accepted becasue it was damn cool.

I can imagine how cool it is see clear time 34. This must be awesome feeling. Wink

Agree with you all the way. I have a new found confidence with any% now so i'm looking forward to trying any% again later this year to aim for 33

I realised i didn't need to skip torizo to get 34 as my consistancy was improving a lot in the build up to the run. The same for phantoon not needing to be 2 rounds but i agree he could have had his fastest pattern on at least one round. I'm very unlucky with phantoon  Sad

The pre draygon shinespark is practically impossible on PAL. Due in a very large part to the flash time duration in preperation for a shinespark is much shorter on PAL. The gravity jump glitch is useless too because of the difference in height that samus jumps between the two versions. she barely makes it out of the water at the peak of her jump. Wasting time on a single jump to then start wall jumping to the top is more time costly than to start wall jumping from the bottom. providing your a good wall jumper. Even so it's impossible to do a pre draygon shinespark on PAL apart from tool assisted, which i have managed. unassisted i have got to the large room with a fraction of flash time left. And believe me i was wall jumping extremly fast and ledge grabbing at the top and not stopping for the door. There's just no time  to jump out there and trigger a shinespark.

Yea botwoon could have been a bit better. But i agree with you my maridia does go slightly better than hotarubi's. Because i skip supers and i dont hang around killing those creatures after botwoon that emerge from the sand to refill his missles and supers. I think hotarubi should definatly do the same and adopt a shinespark death for draygon like i did. No doubt he's probabaly thought of it before.

Thanks for analysing my run. I like to do the same. I do hope it gets accepted because it's only one minute from human limit IMO.

Yes when i got 34 i was half expecting it to be 34 and half 35 so when 34 popped up i reassuringly nodded my head with a sigh of relief  Wink
Master-88
I forget ask is it faster or slower used Maridia route than Brinstar route when you going into Tourian after completed Ridley?

I remember TAS used Maridia route when he going into Tourian. You used same route as Hotarubi did his 32 SS run.

Maybe these both are as fast as. I personally like used that TAS route.
