I just found an interesting glitch. So In Moon Grotto I tried to do Onin's Save Skip right before the arena fight, and my save is little a pixel or two before the trigger, well I've been having some fun dying against the giant tapeworm of doom and I guess my spawn got pushed back because now I'm locked outside the arena's door.

I'm going to take a screenshot so you can all see this. It's pretty funny.
That's actually a pretty common softlock, it's happened during people's casual playthroughs.

Yea I'm now permanently stuck behind the door. In other news, map of the world is now delayed, TOO A NEW SAVE FILE!

Oh also just for defining the run are we counting the prologue or no? I know we can skip it but there are portions of the prologue that we do have control and SDA guidelines do say when you first have control. Idk, I've always just skpped it.
You can skip it therefore you skip it '-'

SKIP IT SHALL BE! Also how awesome would it be to have this game AGDQ ready?
Grats Mirellie, you have fastest legit time on pc.
Watching VOD now.
its super sloppy so please forgive ;~;
also, i would love to run this at agdq. not sgdq but agdq. i cant afford to get to sgdq in time this year
Vulajin mentioned he wants to try and get it ready for SGDQ. I'm pretty sure it'll be ready by then but I'm sure it'll be even better by AGDQ.

added a small update to the doc, the puzzle doors when they start opening the top half looses collision so you can just jump through once you have wall jump or if you time it right.
thats been on the list for a long time. that was one of the first things i put on the list

In the doc, can someone explain this:
"Get the first life upgrade, get the first map fragment. Make a save before the spirit tree get wall jump, get the energy upgrade, use the save point to level up (2x damage). Get the second map fragment (damage boosts woo), proceed to the tree."
What do you mean by damage boost? From the leveling up or do map fragments increase damage? lol

Also, what do you mean by "iceless". Sorry4noob.
Damage boost is a general term for taking damage in order to pass an area. In this case, in the part with the swinging hammers, rather than pushing the boulder you just run into the brambles, then wall-jump over them.

Iceless is the skip posted on page 1, which sequence breaks into the Grotto. Should be a video in the doc.
Ah yeah ofc.

That Iceless is pretty hard, good job it's early in the run.
I went through Forlorn Ruins to investigate it a little, for if people are interested in 100%. There's a neat sequence break, but obviously you can't do those in 100%. You can glitch the energy core cutscene to softlock the game, you can skip putting the energy core into the altar as mentioned before, none of the other cutscenes can be glitched. I managed to keep the energy core throughout the escape sequence, but it's not useful and it disappears after that.
So....why are we getting damage upgrades? They're redundant as soon as you get Bash, and collectively you spend a huge amount of time getting those extra 2 ability points.
The judges aren't out on whether the extra damage on everything that you have to kill (minibosses, stuff that's in the way, stuff that gives lots of experience) saves more time than having to gather two less level-ups. And that'll only really be worth looking into once Climbless Sorrow Bash has to be routed out.
PhoenixRiku: can you add some mods on speedrun.com? I'll go ahead and volunteer, since I know I'll be willing to put some time into upkeep. Also, Mirellie, it'd be great if you'd submit your run there.

Also, we've started an IRC channel on SRL: #ori
Added if anyone else that has been involved wants to volunteer feel free to let me know.
I've started some any% runs of my own but I have a question.

Are we planning on using real time or game time for the timer? And if real time when are you guys starting the timer? I've been starting the timer at file creation and ending when the credits start to roll but I have no idea what the consensus is.

Managed to do a 1:25:52 run (that was terrible) and hope to push below 1:20 tonight and that's with no save skips. Looks like beating that 1:11 is going to be feasible soon. I'm really new to this whole streaming thing but will be streaming (or attempting to stream) some runs later if anyone wants to check it out.

IGT isn't reliable because there's the save glitch and the menu time needs to be added. SDA timing would be from when Ori first moves until when you pick him up at the end, but it's probably more convenient to start either at file creation or at hitting Skip Prologue.

Since save glitches are possible, we're just using real time. I would suggest SRL timing: start when you hit A/Enter for new game, end when you lose control of Naru walking towards Ori.

(edit) As Onin says, SDA timing would start when Ori starts moving.
