Oh right yeah sorry my bad, i thought i was wasting time doing more than 6 rooms, thanks for the clarification.
Ok we're probably good, but I'll let you know of the patch notes once I have them.

One good point: they're gonna fix jumping if you get charge jump without climb, which means we'll be able to skip misty woods as well. That's cool shit yo! Smiley
Wont we need climb to finish the game though?

You don't really need climb except in Misty Woods where you get it. Wall jumping is a good enough substitute for it.
Onin managed to pass the entire area right after you get charge jump without climb (which means you don't have wall charge). After that you're pretty much in the clear as you never NEED wall charge and you can always wall jump.

Game is hard but totally possible.
Isn't there a part in sorrows pass where you have to hold onto the wall and charge jump through wall?
Again, there are several, it's all possible without it. You can try it out yourself or wait for someone else to make a video.

IIRC the first wall can be passed by standing next to it and charge jumping from the ground, the last one you have to bash the spider's projectile twice to hit it and destroy it. Can't remember if there's any more in the middle.

You can break that wall using a spider bullet instead. It's pretty tricky, but doable.

The important question is whether there's a way to pass the sideways wall in the final chase. Hopefully it would be possible with a diagonal charge jump.
Ohhh right, the wall in the final chase. There's no ground there. We might be screwed...
You can break it with a ground pound if I am talking about the right wall.
You need climb for the final chase wall, there's spikes at the bottom.

I stitched together the map:

Doesn't have most of Ginso Tree or Mount Horu.

Going to mark all the Life/Energy cells and what abilities you need to reach them. Mostly doing it for myself but I'll share when it's finished.
I think the spikes doesn't kill you , might be wrong though.
There's only one wall in the Kuro chase, so probably. If that solves it, then we can wave Misty Woods goodbye!

This will probably mean that going to Valley of Wind immediately after getting charge flame is going to be worth the time, rather than picking up a whole lot of experience pickups elsewhere along the way. Those extra three levels, plus 5 ability points on the way from Smash to Sorrow Dash, should be enough.

Onin I've been wondering, have you tried the save skip on the cutscene when you first get to the Spirit Tree?
I've just tried it in the Kuro Chase. There's fire coming out of the ground, and it insta kills you. You have to use wall charge to break that wall. I see no other way of doing it. =\
No , I just tested it , if you are fast enough you can break the wall with a ground pound.

Oh that wall! I did this all the time in my casual run, do a double ground pound, pound the unstable ground up top then pound again to get max fall speed then you can pound a third time to break the wall, if you do it fast enough you don't even take damage Cheesy

I had a lot of trouble with that chase my first run through.

i now have official speedrun of this game at 1:25:49 real time, 1:30:33 game time. ill be making a highlight of it and putting a link to it here. this includes sparrow dash but not iceless. i made HUGE mistakes so this time can get way way better.

I WANT TO MAKE PERFECTLY CLEAR THIS IS REALLY SLOPPY!
Oh I didn't try that, just tried charge jumping from the ground. I'm surprised smash works but if you say so good job! Misty Woods is gone!

Personally I feel without a proper set up iceless is a still too inconsistent to be used in a real run. I think for now we should use Onin's Save Skip to get through the Grotto effectively.

The game blocks off your ability to make save points when you get close to that area, so it doesn't work. Same thing for the little cutscene where you pick up Sein.
If it did work, it would probably function the same as the Fire Element cutscene, which softlocks. So no dice.

Good to know, if that did work that would be pretty great XD

If you guys find any softlocks let me know and I'll pass it on to the devs. The patch will probably come out sometime next week.

BTW I formatted the doc a bit so it's nicer now.

I think time should be when we flip Koru off and finish the game Kappa :p
