Would planting all beans be considered part of a 100% run or not?

As Radix said on page 1, no.  Tongue
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
How about you get the Golden Scale, and the cow in your house... and bomb every secret hole in the game... and get perfect records in every mini-game...

Nah, that's too much.  But I like opening up controversy over what "100%" really means.  I think it's better defined in Majora's Mask, where only certain things can be taken back through the time loop.

My oot 100% definition:

All hearts and heart pieces, plus the double heart fairy.
All bomb/arrow/sword/magic/scale/deku stick|seed|nut upgrades.
All bottles.
All skulltulas.
All ocarina songs. (can you even get everything else listed and skip one? :P)

Did I miss anything?
The only thing I can see that Radix missed would be the cow you just mentioned.  The scale's covered, and why would you need to bomb all the grottos when, for one, you didn't have to in MM, and two, not all of them can be opened by bombs anyway?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Er, just a little time saver, but for the Gerudo Valley heart piece and Skulltula from the soil, you could get the heart piece, get the Skulltula, then just kill yourself with whatever (probably the cucco). Saves a little time.
I'm trying to recall what you have to do for the biggoron sword... it's been awhile.

If I recall, and I know somebody will know this without thinking, you can get it before doing any of the temples as an adult. And obviously, that's a bad idea. The tradeoff on faster kills isn't nearly sufficient enough to make up for the time needed to get it.

I'm trying to think... there should be a simple enough route to get the biggoron sword after 2-3 temples, along with getting other items needed in the run.

And will this run be a "Pokemon" type segmented run? (IE, start at a point that random, like going into grass for a pokemon or having Dampe dig up the heart piece)

About the Biggorons sword: can you quickspin with it? Otherwise you should just wait with getting it untill the end of the game.

And about the pokemon-like saves. It's kind of hard to do things like that, since you start at set locations. The closest to Dampe is dodongo's cavern.
Awww... I almost forgot about that. I only saved 3 times playing it.

As for quickspinning it... I'm not really sure. It doesn't seem like you WOULD be able to, but I never tried.

I bet somebody knows.

Of course.

I suppose we're doing dodongo's as an adult?

How the hell would we do that

He probably meant getting the bomb bag as adult.
But I think it's better to do it as a kid because you need bombs/bomchu's for some skultula's (and heart pieces?) and you might not have enough chu's.

How many do you need?

Hey... don't forget about the Stone of Agony!

(Okay well... that's a given of course... lol)

Remember that when you use the boomerang to snag heart pieces, as it comes to you, move forward. One time, I was getting the one at the entrance to Zora's Domain. It fell into the water when I caught the boomerang  Shocked

I'd like to point out that no matter what, we have to go back in time.  Even with Early spirit and Early well, we need the Song of Storms for the frog heart pieces.

We also need the Bolero for that bean patch, although that seems like there might be a way down there with bomb jumps.

Don't we need the Bolero (as well as the other songs) regardless of what use you might have for it?

FYI, to get all the deku stick and deku nut upgrades, you have to do the mask sidequests.  Also, you have to do it and get the upgrades before you turn into an adult, because a glitch prevents you from getting the upgrades after becoming adult and going back to child form.

well, yes, but you can only get the bolero as an adult, and then you would have to travel back in time to use it to that end.

I'm pointing out reasons why a trip back to the past is necessary.

On a similar note to what you just said, all medallions are required, as Light is unavoidable, Shadow And Sprit are required, and Fire, Forest, and Water are needed for the Nocturne.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
You can get on top of that cinder cone thing with well-placed bomb boosts, which would be the best way to do it, but you'd still need to go back in time for the Song of Storms stuff.
There sure is a lot to do, it almost seems like somebody not be up for it.

Has anybody given it a shot yet? 7 pages is an awful lot to... dig through for links...
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
that's nothing compared to the 141 pages of the other OoT topic.
I read up to 137...

Anyways, not to get off topic.

Somebody other than me should recap the 100% definition for this game so that more planning can be done... or so that at least people like me aren't left twidling our thumbs.

and like i said, for all the upgrades you'll need to do all the mask trades

you'll also need biggoron's sword, which requires you to have epona

a few of the heart pieces that are obtained by planting a magic bean can be had through other means.  the one in the graveyard, for example is easy to get once you have the longshot.  the one on top of dodongo's cavern entrance you can get as a kid by simply backflipping onto the ledge.  i'm not sure, but maybe it's possible to longshot onto the house for the one in lake hylia.

you can skip the silver scale by getting the golden scale first with the Z+R glitch

you can skip the goron's bracelet by getting the silver gauntlets first, although i'm not sure if that saves any time.

I think you still need to aquire those, much like you still need to aquire all skulltulas, or a gravity suit even if you already have phazon.

But are the Medallions superfluous?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
no, because you need forest, fire, and water in order to obtain nocturne of shadow.

Doesn't work, not even if you shoot the ladder. :/
