Great, so it looks like I'll be using BA to get the Poacher's Saw then. Unless of course it's found to be slower. I do want to be absolutely sure this is okay with SDA though, I haven't heard a definite answer yet.

Also, if I do end using BA to get Poacher's Saw, will I have to  use the pocket cucco to wake up Talon? Or can Epona still be gotten with Talon sleeping in Kakariko?
MrGrunz is a guay
No need to wake up talon for epona.

About BA in your run, you said you want to BA forest temples boss key, but you can only do BA after beating the forest temple.  It might not be faster
I did not say I wanted to BA/RBA the forest temple boss key.  Wink

Also, I think BA'ing the Poacher's Saw might actually take longer. After all, I collect a lot of stuff while navigating from one location to another. Either way I'm going to have to take the same (or slightly altered) path just without a Biggoron Sword delivery item. And the majority of the time that could be saved would be from skipping the eyeball frog and eye drop sequence which won't happen even with BA. And getting preparation for BA takes a while too. As for the bombchu, If I really needed some, I could just get them when I go back in time anyway.

It appears as if BA/RBA would be useless in a 100% run regardless unless someone can think of some other use for it.
MrGrunz is a guay
Well someone mentioned the forest temple RBA stuff...

But I just thought of another thing for BA for biggorons sword.  If you have hylian shield, deku shield, kokiri sword, master sword and giants knife (<- only one you need to go out of the way for) then you can BA the clain check to B.  That has more potential to save some time.  Still I'd prefer no BA in a 100% run.

Oh, so it is possible to get the Claim's Check through BA. However, I realized this would go against SDA's rules unless the actual claim check was gotten as well. Because the Claim Check is the last item that appears in your inventory for the Biggoron Sidequest, it would have to be obtained legally. This means the only item that could actually save time is the Tear Drops and if those are obtained through BA, they won't work I believe. At least they don't if you get them from the Bomb Treasure Chest in DC. So the best possible item actually obtainable through BA is the Broken Knife and even then I don't think it would save time. So no BA for the Biggoron Sidequest which is actually fine by me. I would rather do the sidequests than BA for entertainment purposes.
This statue's one-eyed gaze pierces into your mind
IIRC if you BA for the claim check it won't work when you show him, because you never gave him the eyedrops.

P.S. http://cosmo.dreamhosters.com/BA/morezeldashit.txt
Using that site, I think zora mask BA could be useful.
You can get the broken goron's sword on B from having zora mask on c-right and having the kokiri and master swords, and deku and hylian shields. Then you could go give the eyedrops to biggoron then show him the sword.

Seems like it would work nicely.

making a BA-route for a 100% run should be pretty hard.
good luck with it

are the only skipable things with BA water temple boss key and half of the trade quest?

You could probably skip the silver gauntlets by RBA'ing the medallions and getting the golden gauntlets early.

Edit: I actually decided to revise the current route and implement BA/RBA into the run. It uses BA to skip half of the biggoron's sword quest, and RBA for Fire Temple key.

First changes are just skipping the trade quest items, then BA starts at Segment 48.

I was unsure about the Fire Temple and how much could actually be skipped with RBA. And I also think the shortcut to Lake Hylia with the Eyeball Frog can't be done using this route.

Edit 2: Woops. I messed up. I realize that we need to BA before we get the zora tunic. I'll keep the route up if anyone wants to fix it.

Edit 3: Okay, I have fixed it. At least I hope I have. There are some very long segments, though. The fix lets us do the Zora's Domain - Lake Hylia shortcut, but we have to steal the rod twice.

Edit 4: Wow, I just realized that tunics don't matter in Zora Mask RBA. Oh well, I'll keep this route. Seems like it would be faster anyway.

Sorry if this is offtopic but I don't like about that idea how we use BA on 100% run and on NMS run Undecided

There should be only any% run what use BA to my oppinion. But if sda can accept it I will don't argue about it then anymore. But this is my point.
Merry Chrismas =)
I also don't like the idea.
the people who watch the run want to see somebody playing trough a temple not backflipping and then entering the boss room.

ok, that was my opinion  Wink

what is the shortcut to lake hylia you wrote about?
boss
Oh, I beg to differ.

Near the entrance of Zora's Domain, if you fell off the ledge there is a ladder you can climb up.
If you hookshot the top right corner of the ladder you grab the ledge, only you are in the wall. Then press A to let go and press B to jumpslash. You are now out of bounds and can use the child warp to Lake Hylia.

I also had another idea for the BA route.
It doesn't skip half of the trade quest, instead it uses RBA to get medallions and Light Arrows early so you can RBA them in the spirit temple for the boss key.

Edit: Another idea: BA for poachers saw, show the carpenter, RBA the broken goron sword, light arrows early. If I remember correctly using this for spirit temple RBA can skip a lot. Get silver gauntlets, hoverslide to mirror shield, lower the platform, longshot to boss door, and there you go. Most of the temple skipped.
Everybody loves Hypnotoad!
RBA for the medallions makes you lose the Light medallion permanently.  Since all medallions is part of both NMS and 100%, IIRC, it can't be used.

I don't plan on getting the Silver Gauntlets anyway. Wink

Thanks for the idea of RBA'ing for the Big Key in the Fire Temple. But it's a lot faster to just get the Big Key the regular way. After all, there is a GS in one of the rooms right before the Big Key.

Also, it's slower to use BA to skip half the biggoron's quest because I collect a lot of items along the route I'd use for the item trading and either way I'd have to take the same route (or slightly altered) to collect everything just minus a few biggoron items. Skipping getting the Biggoron items up to the Poachers Saw could save maybe 90 seconds at best and BA'ing for the Poacher's Saw or even the Broken Goron Sword takes a lot longer to do.

I actually don't think there is any way to speed up a 100% run with BA/RBA. But feel free to keep looking. I will implement it if it is faster.

indeed, but you can also use BA to get several items for the 100% playthrough.
in otherwords: getting 100% by backflipping and slipperyfish-action. pretty boring, though
Merry Chrismas =)
ok, this is for my MQ run.

Am I just too stupid or is it true, that I can't get up to the switch without longshot in the room with the bridge in the shadow temple?
I have enough bombchus left to hover up there, but isn't there an other way?

a quick answer would be nice.

@toesrus
you don't have to lower the platform. I found a way to get behind the face without the platform a few months ago Wink

and for the 100% route:

maybe you could use the boss room without boss key trick, but I'm not sure if there's a skulltula in one of the rooms that are skipped with this trick.

damn

Petrie also told me that one hour ago.
I have about 15 bombchus left, so it is doable, but I then I have to be a little bit creative in the spirit temple segment, because I have to kill 4 beamos with bombs.
sometimes they did after one explosion and sometimes you need 2 bombs to kill them.
why?

I usualy get the shadow temple hover in about 11 chus, but it might be doable with 10.

About the beamos, the small ones die with 1 bomb and the big ones die with 2.  Its not random.
Would SDA allow this in my 100% run?

I could damage Link by falling high off the bridge when getting the 40 rupees (for segment 7) and three more hearts from the GS outside Hyrule. This wouldn't cost any time because I would just have to wait for Talon to wake up anyways. Then when I'm in Zelda's outside room thing, I would slingshot the window, then have that bomb blow me up to skip the scene.

And so the slingshot total doesn't change by the end of the segment, I could save one of the slingshot bullets in the Sun's Room tomb and instead stab two of the four Keese.

This would save about two minutes.

The only problem is when loading the game for the future segments, I won't have a death. (It reads 000 when it would have to read 001.) But timing doesn't start when loading the game, so would it matter? I could have a death for Segment 21, but that still leaves segments 8-20 wrong.

Would SDA still allow it?
Visually Appealing
yeah, that's perfectly legal.
Sweet! I expect a 2:25 improvement for segment 7 then!

So, what should I do about the 000 death thing? Should I just leave it at 0 death's, or for segment 21, should I have a death count of 001?
just leave 000 there

any idea how I could damage myself in my MQ run? my lullaby segment is directly after meeting sheik. it would be night when I enter the castle moat. brian, could you tell me where the skulltula you mentioned is?

ok, and for your 100% run:
you want to do the guard thing, a damn hard lullaby skip, coccu collecting, hit 2 kees in one shoot and getting the sun's song in one segment?
that will be even harder than segment4 of the ba-run, IMO
