I don't think anyone else has ever pulled off the quick forest escape, so until someone works it out we shouldn't try to use it in speedruns.

I certainly would like to see the segmented run done soon, and I really don't mind who does it, as long as the segments are posted on YouTube soon after completion. The TAS gives a good indication of segment target times. As I've said before, I'm surprised no-one has started the run yet, because this will be just about the easiest OoT run ever. Everything in the run is easy for a segmented run. Of course, getting the segments near perfect will be very time consuming, but I imagine this run will take less time and effort than all previous OoT runs.

Just saw Kazooie's post - I would like to see that. I'm sure any quick forest exit tricks would be very difficult, but I'm sure they would be quite possible on a console. Though I agree it might be too difficult for even a segmented run.
So the faster forest escape isn't really feasible?  Alright, thanks.

The forest escape is probably my weakest point, so I'm practicing that a ton.  Luckily it's at the beginning of a segment, so it shouldn't be too bad.    ZFG was right, the Stalchild superslide is actually pretty easy.
I'm not your buddy, guay!
I would also be interested in seeing the video of escaping the forest with 2 nuts, if AKA is willing to show it.

If it's TAS only is that because the 2 nuts have to be perfectly jumped or is it because the clipping with the tree is so hard? If it is just the first 2 nuts a console runner could always just use a 3rd or 4th one to get the correct position, it would still save a lot of time.
Zelda Rulez!
I can send PM to AKA. Maybe I can get he to upload that video. If I remember correctly he used same sidehops like what you use to skip ToT Roll Eyes
He's back!
Its actually possible to do it with one nut ;-)
Zelda Rulez!
Wow! Upload video right now! Wanna see so badly 8-)
Winnar.
Link to one nut when its up please
He's back!
Thats strange, I actually added in a fix to make the video less grainy, in reference to when Link's trying to setup up the first nut hover. Instead YouTube makes it all pixelated.

None the less
Winnar.

Damn, thats awesome. Should be easier to practice as you can just keep going back up until you get the opposite direction backflip. Only really hard part is still the mega flip of course. = p

OK here's how to do the TSearch thing.

get my Tsearch cheat table:
http://cosmo.dreamhosters.com/BA/zeldaultimate.cht

and Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.2) [!].z64

and Project 64 v1.6

open both programs and get zelda running in the emulator

on TSearch, click OPEN PROCESS and pick Project 64

then open the Cheats List and open zeldaultimate.cht

this is what you should see if it worked right

start the game and as a final check to make sure things worked, look for Tunics&Boots value. if it is 17 then you have succeeded!

now just go through the game and watch the value called "?? (Bunny Hood RBA)"

if you see it change, then post here exactly when it changed and what it changed to. Smiley hope this helps!
Route from page 281:

Quote:
segment 4:
go to lost woods bridge area
activate isg off the gossip stone
escape the forest with 3-4 nuts
backwalk to kakariko (should be just before night)
cucco bottle
get out of kakariko
superslide off the stalchild to lake hylia (should be night + you'll find a couple of bushes literally two sidehops away from your path)
catch bugs from the bush near the upper scarecrow
set scarecrow's song with OI (ocarina items) glitch (you don't have to release/catch the bug here since the bottle is already registered to your hand)
take the owl to the market
get 40R off the bridge chains (should be daytime already)
go to tot
dot skip
become adult
save

segment 5:
go to hyrule field
backwalk to kakariko
get pocket egg
go to graveyard
get hylian shield (don't equip)
pause/unpause
race dampe for hookshot
equip hookshot to c-right, then c-down (swap with bombs)
equip bottled bug to c-left
equip hylian shield
save

I was wondering if it wouldn't be faster to skip the 40R from the chains, sell the Bug to the guy slapping his knees in Hyrule Castle Town (50R), then on your way through Kakariko toward the Cucco woman, to get a new bug from the rock.  I think Adult Link is tall enough to just climb up, so you would just climb up on your right, and go around the House of Skulltula that way toward the woman.

Has this been timed?  Is it obviously slower?  You would have to pause to equip the Bottle, but would that eliminate the need for the pause/unpause right after the Hylian shield?
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
Getting those rupees is really fast... You can get them in one jump.

Oh I didn't realize that.  Sidehopping up one chain and getting both on the way down does make it seem quite a bit faster.

I followed all your steps and such, but it doesn't display a value. For ANYTHING. Not even a 0. I'm using 1.2 and everything, like you said. Blah. I can't figure out what's wrong.

I have same problem. There are no values on my cheat list. Then I tought I have wrong version. But it isn't that problem. Why it doesn't work them. I cannot see any values and I cannot change them either :-/

Hm i don't know what the problem is  :-/
Zelda Rulez!
that is bad thing then Sad

AKA - Great video! Awesome work! so is that possible on console? Maybe with little more nuts.
The only reason that would happen is if you arent attached to the process, can you list exactly when and how you attach to Project 64?
Winnar.
Try just adding the address- 3AE8AD18 to your tsearch or cheatengine address list when you are attached instead of adding the chart.

(That address is for the bunny hood memory thing)

But that still doesn't explain why it changes what goes on B over the course of the game.
yes it does....
Zelda Rulez!
yeah it explain it. So is that all? Is't that magic bean selling amount what that guy is selling? and what price it will have? Very intresting. Could Nintendo have used those other unused amounts somewhere else, like that? How you figured it out Cosmo? And great work with it!! Grin

This isn't very usefull but if you buy all magic beans and then drop that value with one B bottle item. Could you buy more beans from him? It really doens't matter because you can hack that magic bean amount with other C item too. (Forget what it was)

So how many magic beans there is all in total? If you by only two magic beans. that means you can get deku nuts to B button. If you buy all of them you get hookshot? is that right? Tell me if I'm wrong. This way I noticed it 8-)

Great work with this Cosmo! Grin

Yeah thats it. I dont think you could buy more because it starts at 0 and goes up 1 for each bean you buy, ending at 10. but you can only change it to 20, 24, 25, 28, 29. i think he won't sell you any beans if it is 10 or higher. i didn't try them all though i just tried fish (25)

I was playing through a new file on an emulator with Tsearch running and it stayed 0 the whole time. and I got to dodongo's cavern and I noticed the empty patch of soil and remembered the guy sold you 10 beans only, and I realized AH HA that must be it! and I checked and I was right

Zelda Rulez!
Yeah that is true. Sorry I forget to check those values of bottle items, I was lazy Smiley

That value is too high to get any beans from him. Could there be other suff you add value 29 there with bugs or use Tsearch to add even higher value there? What would that guy to say to that thing.

Even it's useless, it's cool to see BA used something like this. And it's still new stuff for BA. I have always hoped we can add more higher value to the right C than last adult trade item. Like that bomb bag on right C to hack water temple small keys.

Maybe there is someday way to do it
