hmm.. i was thinking what about making a Quake Done Cheated run, just for the fun of it on whatever skill with godmode on and all the weapons 'n keys (no noclip allowed, no notarget allowed).  i have a feeling someone thought of this ahead of me and it wasn't a very good idea, but still.. it will go under the 10 minutes bar for sure Cheesy

Check out 'Windlash Demos' from the Quake section's links page; there are a number of 'cheated' demos for ID levels. It's not a whole game run, but every level you start with the same stats anyway, right? 8)

Also there is a run by a certain Phil called Quake done QUAD recorded with quad cheat, impulse 9, god, and host_framerate. Can't find it right now on the web but it's somewhere I'm sure.

Is there any ambition to finish this project? We've come a long way already. The 12 minute barrier is beaten by 10 seconds so far.

The minimum effort required to get something release worthy would be a new demo on e2m4, and one on e3m6. In theory, with those two demos done we could wrap the project up and call it a day.

What do you guys say?

Only 9 seconds to reach the 700" barrier...

Suppose two seconds will be cut from e2m4, two from e3m6, one from e2m5 and one from e4m4...

e4m3 looks near optimal. e3m1 and e4m2 - at most  two seconds from here...

Where to cut the last one?

Don't go stress runners with barriers NOW mkay. Ask yourself this question: would you rather see a 699 second run in the year 2047, or a wonderfully incredible 709 second run this year or next?

Rather, let's hope we can finish the run at all  Shocked And besides, I don't see e3m6 going 2 seconds faster just with the addition of a RL. The GL demo we have is pretty amazing already...

But that's just MY opinion  Grin

the e3m2_018 makes connor's e3m3_023 unusable... as he skipped megahealth there, so we would have to to use peter's old e3m3.
anyway, this e3m2 is so good that it deserves to force us to make another e3m3_023!
here's my opinion on how far we can get with some other maps:
e1m4: done but may need another "better looking demo".
e2m4: 2sec
e2m5: 1sec
e3m3: redo with megahealth
e3m6: 1sec
e4m1: exit with more health
e4m2: 3sec
e4m3: 1sec
e4m4: 1sec
so 9 seconds in total, i didn't mean to push it to 700.

Just so you know, Peter did e2m3_015 yesterday but I can't post the demo. Stubby will when he gets here I hope.

Are you sure about that?  It's close, for sure, but Martin has other 18s with better exit stats, so it's not that big a deal.  Of course, we're all really waiting for a 17...

I've just watched e2m1_007, e2m2_034, e2m3_015 again and again. No words. Shocked

I'll fear to open the e2m4 demo when Peter release it...

BTW, Episode 1 is already optimized... as well as e2m6_116, e4m5_007 and some other demos. Our best runners have more than a half of the maps done *quickest*!

So I'll try to make some recams, OK? Smiley

BTW, I found a bug (?) in the end_033 demo. It would be cleaner if I knew how to decompose the demo into frames... So I used low hfr, but just couldn't catch the moment when Mathias steps into the last teleport. Maybe the player-box was very close to the trigger, and fps was too slow to record this move?

Nevertheless, the demo looks great! Cheesy

connor's e3m3_023 is based on joe's e3m2_019 which exits with full health! and so he skipped the megahealth to save a second...

why is peter going to use the ingmar route in e2m4? i guess it gives about the same time(0:46) with the old route but is even harder.
so maybe we just have peter working on the ingmar route and joe on the old route...

Nevertheless, reducing the amouht of health at the start of e3m3_023 to 50 points still leaves the demo going fine: Connor never dies and exits with 13 health and full armour, so e3m4 is started with 50 health (the map always starts with at least 50 health and at least 25 shells) and full armour, as we see in Peter's crazy e3m4_026.

So all fits OK except e3m1_025, which should be redone with at least 68 health at the exit, because Mathias started his e3m2_018 with full health instead of 64 points from Markus' demo.

oops, i checked it again and you are right, i just had bad memories since i was busy recently. :wallbash:
and about e3m1, i don't expect the easy window jump to be possible, but the map does need to be redone.
