Complete "Purple Coins on the Puzzle Cube" with a score of 16. (Easy/Medium)

Complete "Battlerock Barrage" with a score of at least 50. (Hard)

Complete "Dreadnought's Colossal Cannons" with a score of at least 65. (Very Hard)

Hint: For the last two, you may need to die a few times at the beginning of each mission to rack up on star bits. Once you have a few hundred, get ready for some intense target shootin'.
You sure like the them high score challenges don't you mwl
Oh on a side note why did you take the high score coin wiki page down?

Because I felt that score attacks weren't really our focus on a wiki for documenting speedruns. This along with the fact that the info is already available elsewhere. (The courses and stars are listed in exactly the same order as on your star list.)

That said, I like high score challenges because they're different from your typical challenge, not to mention that they make you explore the levels to get the most out of the game. This is a big contrast to the "skip as much as possible" mentality among speedrunners.

Updated challenges. I've given the first prize offering.

Are you keeping track of the scores? Nobody's on the page.

Challenge 16.

Can we upload MP4's to Youtube? I don't want to try it myself in case if they're not accepted it ends up crashing my computer or something. Seeing how Youtube is allergic to quality and all...
Here's a fun challenge that doesn't involve collecting coins:

Complete Gold Leaf's "Bell on the Big Tree" by pressing the A button only once. Collect all music notes in one go at the maximum speed possible.

This is an easy challenge. 300 points.

By the way, challenge 19 is worth more like 2000 points.

Not bad, 10/10 for that one,
also i kinda forgot that the cannon was on up on a platform like that.

EDIT: I bet that it would be pretty much impossible to even get to the cannon as Luigi

Getting into the cannon as Luigi is actually easier because the spin jumps him up a bit higher. It's the planet itself where using him is harder.
Oh i was just thinking that, coz luigi is soooooooooo crap underwater,
that would it pretty hard to get to the cannon

Right need to think of a new challenge now Tongue
Just call me the cynicism machine
I'd like to see some low score runs for the bonus stages.  Like, Loopdeswoop with 0 coins in less than a minute, or the final rolling ball star with a high score of 5 or less.

0 coins on Loopdeeswoop is too easy.

Well, that would be why I put the time constraint on it, obviously.

Are people still interested in doing these?

I'm going to modify my "Battlerock Barrage" challenge:

Collect 30 or more coins from cannonballs while on the moving saucer.

This means less time searching for coins, and more action.

Of course, you can still collect 50+ on the entire mission if you feel like it, but this is no longer necessary. 1000 points.

I'm still interested in doing these. I'm a little busy at the moment though.
How about this for a challenge:

Melty Molten Galaxy - The Sinking Lava Spire
Stipulations - Collect every star bit as you blast out of the volcano, but no others in the entire level. Keep cursor on screen at all times.

I don't actually know how hard this is (the not collecting any other bits part) so you could change it slightly to allow you to collect 3 others, at max.

Sound good?

I'll post it. I hope people are still interested in doing challenges. It seems the excitement had died down. I'll put the list of players and the number of points they've earned back.

You're obligated to get two star bits at this point : http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=GFDLo0jgzeQ (1:10-1:18).

But other than that, this challenge is way too easy. Could be worth 25 points, but heh...

Anyway, keep 'em coming, I'm sure I'm not the only who completes the challenges without participating in the points earning. I'll post some later.
MrGrunz is a guay
#20 should be daredevil to make it harder.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Im going to try some of these.

Complete. Global. Saturation.
I've been trying to do 13 and 14, but there's one point where there's just no way to get up to the next point without using a cloud.

If you're going clockwise, there are two rocks that make an "X" which are slippery, but can be walked on. From here, there's no way to get up to the green ship you're supposed to.

If you're coming the other way, a little past the same part, there's a tree in front of a big round mountain with a bee-suit power-up at the bottom. There is no way to get onto a non-slideable part from the bottom without using a cloud.

I've also been trying Challenge 20, but I'm not really sure how many star bits are actually in that loop. Does anyone know off hand?

Those are the two very challenging parts of the challenge. For the easier of the two, it's all in the technique used. For the other, it's about the technique and prayer. I've done each challenge once (not making it all around without falling in, every time I'd fall in, I'd swim back and retry) so I know it's possible. (with Luigi, at least)
Complete. Global. Saturation.
It makes me feel better that you've actually been able to do it. It's just that it's a huge pain in the ass to keep having to try to make it again and again from the same spot.

Challenge 15.

I've managed to get 1:37, but it's in MP4 format. Youtube and video quality go together like Texas and gun control.

You can also see why I hate the fire flower power-up. The hardest part of the run is 1:33-1:36, hands down.
