The Kirby picture got screwed over by the compression that the video camera used (too lazy to fix that) and the auto brightness on the second one is excessive. Still good for getting the idea though.

Did you draw them? Crap they are good. If you end up with any extra pics (wink wink), I want them or I will pay for them.
Hey, guys. My internet exploded, but I have all of the order information, except for Cave Story, on my computer, so I'll have everything shipped on time.
I'm updating this by asking my mom to do it for me, via phone (Mom rocks!!! LOL!), so no one needs to worry. Things are working well enough, and I will finish everything on time.
Alright, I'm closing submissions a little early to make sure I still have time. If you have any pieces you'd like to sponsor for the marathon, send me a PM (or e-mail to dustinhammontree aT gmail ) and I'll tell you if it's possible or whatnot.
Sorry for any issues this causes, but I want to make sure I have time and it all gets there.
I, for whatever reason, have a PS3 S-Video cable lying around (official Sony, unopened). I was thinking we could give this out as a prize as a sort of "start speed running" thing seeing as most people have HDMI and not all that many recorders take HDMI. Afaik, it's backwards compatible with PS2 as well.
The idea being, if someone has never tried recording a speedrun (or gameplay in general) it's a good $15 or so towards starting them off.
@Flicky: that's an awesome prize idea! I had to track down one of those, for the purposes of recording, and it was really hard to find one. If someone were interested in starting running, that would be one of the hardest things to find
It's kinda useless outside of speedrunning though. If you're gonna have a current gen console, you probably have an hdtv with hd cables. I don't see a lot of incentive to donate for something like that. Plus it's a $15 cable. It's not one of a kind or even hard to find. There's over 100 on ebay for as little as $3. (ok maybe not SONY brand, but it doesn't really matter) It's all about what the audience wants.
Yeah, I agree with dballin -- unless you can give the gift of "a speedrunner's mindset" --- I think it'd be useless (unless the recipient actually needed it, heh)

Let's not forget we're dealing with a speedrunning marathon. Besides, a lot of other prizes in this topic are narrowly geared towards a particular kind of audience as well and might not be appreciated by others who might be watching the marathon. To me, the only problem with the cable is that it should be packaged with something else, because it's not an expensive item and it would just be strange and maybe a little silly to hear that "a CABLE" all by itself is up for grabs during the next hour.
BUT I kinda like the idea of some pseudo bogus prizes mostly becuase they would be funny and or better then nothing. "..and chatuser8 wins a copy of The Terminator for SEGA game gear and a light up EA pen. Congrats!"

I don't want to shit on anyone's prize ideas, but at the high point of last marathon there was over 1000 people watching. There are not over 1000 people with speedruns on this site. Most of the people that come here don't actually run anything, myself included. The cable appeals to an extremely limited audience. That's all I'm saying.
I have Sony brand component cables that I haven't needed since I replaced my old TV 3 years ago if it will make a decent prize I guess.
^ I know, that's why I said it should probably be packaged with something if someone seriously wanted to give one away.
dballin: I know most people that come here are not runners. I was not saying otherwise. I was just saying that there is a fair chance of interest in speedrunning from the viewer. Just finding the marathon itself and watching more than a second of it qualifies you already as being part of this rather niche market, I would think.
The larger point is that a PS3 cable has some value (minimal, as stated above, but still) for a good number of people who would watch the marathon, enough so that it's not "useless" as applied to our particular demographic.
That all being said, I say mystery bag it or something so we don't look silly offering a cable for donations. lol Or yeah, don't bother using it during the marathon. I don't really care what happens with this cable; my only point is that it's a stretch to say things like this would not interest someone. (And therefore, we should encourage people to chip in with prize ideas like this, even if we ultimately decide not to use them)
I'll probably just bring the cables and can at least give them to another runner if they want it. I've had it boxed for about 6 months so I'm not going to use it (It's a duplicate).
