Sometimes the act of giving to a good cause isnt enough for some people to donate. Thats why we offer the chance of winning something for donating, say at least $5?

Last marathon fan art from the speed gamers was given away. What sort of things can we give out this time?
It might be worth trying to contact publishers/developers of the games that are gonna be played, see if they feel like donating some swag.

We also need to decide when we are going to give specific items away i.e: give sonic 2 just after the run of sonic 2 has finished. The winner could be drawn from any of the donations during that particlar run.

Prizes:

1. Cards
Mario , Sprite, SSBM

I believe signed carts were mentioned.
Sea of Green
I'm knitting some stuff to give away as prizes. Need to start soon.
train kept rollin
I have two sets of nintendo themed playing cards that I can give away. Ones just mario themed and the second features sprites from various nes/snes games. What do you think?

where did you get that sprites deck?

an "Offical Nintendo magazine" in England iirc.
that Metroidvania guy
i totally wouldnt give those cards away but if you want to, hey whatev

we're getting the artist to do cool drawings for us again, right?

it's unfortunate that a lot of the stuff i have to give away doesn't really have anything to do with the marathon or wouldn't fit in anywhere as a prize... i can look through carts i have that are in the marathon and if i have spares or don't really care about the game i can bring some so the runners don't have to sacrifice their copies as memorabilia.

i'd definitely go with contacting as many game companies (of games we're playing) as we can first though after getting a charity situated. they probably have some cool stuff.
Fucking Weeaboo
I've got a couple of these cool magnets that are called something like "pixelated perfections" or something like that.  It's a layer of beads that are basically large pixed gaming characters.  They look really cool.  I should try to find the site and try to get some related to some of the games we're doing for the marathon.

SEGA Junkie
I know a guy that makes those, I'm almost certain he'd be interested in doing some stuff for this. Let me get back to you on that.

EDIT: he's definitely willing to take part! I've sent him a copy of the schedule and he'll post in here later letting you know what he can do.

Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
M89's referring to me (caught me on FB and told me, so here I am).  I support SDA, and this is the first time (aside from encouraging runs and making Stanski work himself in S2) that I'll be able to directly support SDA in anything.  I require compensation (I have almost no money, which is the reason I didn't donate during last year's marathon), but I'll do it cheaper than normal commissions, certainly.  I'd like to talk to someone about specifics and ideas and shipping and the like.

EDIT: feel like a jerk for asking for payment, so I'll be sending a few in whether more are ordered or not.  I already have Protoman made, I've been requested to make Sparkster since RKA's in the mix, as well as an 8-bit Samus, and a Simon Belmont.

Pics of my stuff:

Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, that's exactly what I was referring to.

Ultima Exodus! Nice!

Nice to see people recognize them.  Edited my first post to say I'm sending some regardless.

For orders, I'll try to pay attention to my PMs on here, or directly e-mail me if you'd like with "SDA marathon" in the title to kain_thealmighty(at)yahoo(dot)com

I'm guessing mailing a box of them to the convention (or someone there) and you guys'll handle it from there?  Who would I talk to about this?

EDIT: getting to work on the ones I can now, and beads'll be ordered before long. I'll post pics of them once I can.
Sea of Green
It would probably be better to mail them to Mike than directly to the center. We won't know when they'll arrive, necessarily, and the mailing address of the center could be different from its physical address.
Waiting hurts my soul...

How much would you be charging? I'd rather donate some money for cool prizes like this than directly to the charity.
Haters gonna hate
Those are awesome Aitamen, and yeah, what MercuryZelda said.

As for prizes of my own to give out, I have extra boxed copies of Link to the Past and Earthworm Jim to give, as well as a spare NES (which'll need a new 72 pin) with Castlevania, SMB3, and Dr. Mario (yeah, we're using the 64 version, but close enough).  I was thinking about trying to sell the latter batch, but when it's maybe $50 in my pocket vs. possible hundreds in donation from people fighting for a chance at it, it makes sense to be charitable.

And Zenic raises a good point.  If we form some sort of prize budget we could possibly get some really awesome stuff to give away.  Once we get the charity locked in we should see what we can't get on the free first, but an assortment of cool stuff with some genuine chase items would likely do wonders for our donation total.

Well, it depends on the size and the like, but even the biggest stuff I could make atm (58x58 pixels, maybe more if I buy more boards, or get creative) would only be 10-12USD for this, depending on colors required.

EDIT: Protoman, Samus, Simon are now 5 each, the smaller sprites (Bub, Bob, The ultima sprites, and the chocobo) are 3.

I'll have pics of Samus and Simon next to Protoman once I get Samus finished.
Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
Here ya go, just pulled Samus out of the freezer and stuck them next to a 2L bottle of Code Red for size comparison.  Sorry about the size and the lighting, all I have is a camera phone for pics. >_>

I'll upload a bigger pic and give a link in a little while, and I'll get to work on sparkster once I know if I have the beads I need for him.

Everybody's favorite monster
If you could make Elmo, i would be forever gratefull
#Casual
The 2L bottle of Mountain Dew Code Red WOULD make a good gift...

Also, I'm thinking of giving out my plushies of DK and Diddy Kong (picture soon).
I survived MIKE-Fest 1
mabey we could get some custam SDA Marathon T-Shierts

also we could found a fund to get money for prices
Is PJ
I mentioned this in chat, but I have Sonic 2 and Altered Beast complete in box that I'd be more than happy to part with.  If Stanski wants the manual/box of either before I donate them, then we can just donate the cart.  Else, the entire bundle is fine.  But yea, I won't be using them so they may as well be donated.
Talk to the Hand
To tigger's idea, unfortunately, I'm pretty sure the place I got the snarky "Didn't get a lousy t-shirt" shirts for the M7 challenges booth isn't there anymore. Sad I like the concept, though.

Gotta say I kinda like the idea of event t-shirts.  It's kinda corny, but we could also utilize them as prizes.  Also, they're "limited edition."
