Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!

Sparkster, which M89 asked me to make, and is among those being donated to the cause.  This is my first Genesis sprite, and this particular one isn't bad, but I may make another in better quality to send as a donation (and keep this specific one ^_^).

Hopefully it's good enough to be donated.
Waiting hurts my soul...
That looks great!

[11:50pm] <Strong_Bad> so by "boxed Earthworm Jim," does that mean just EWJ sega genesis/snes in the original box? <_<
[11:51pm] <Aitamen> w/ book, I believe.
[11:51pm] <Strong_Bad> because I'd totally donate everything except the poster
[11:51pm] <Strong_Bad> because that's hanging up IN MY ROOM

includes "Customer Reply Card" Cheesy
Haters gonna hate
Yeah, it's the genesis version boxed w/ manual, no poster though.  The LttP I'm giving out I believe has all the inserts (manual, map, "LttP secrets" and some Nintendo Power flyer plus the white cart tray and dust protector).  It's the player's choice edition, but I don't think anyone can be too bummed out about that.

Ok, a few people have expressed that they want to order stuff to be given as prizes to some high-donaters during the marathon.  For anything going to the marathon to be shown during the feed, I'd like to get orders in no later than Dec 1.  This is so I can order beads and the like if need be, and give plenty of time for it to transverse the mail system so even if it's late, it'll be on time.

Feel free to post here (I try to check it daily, or so) or PM me or e-mail me ( DustinHammontreeATgmailDOOTcom )  Wanna make sure I can do lots for the marathon ^_^

Can we get an estimate on pricing? Or is that something you'd rather discuss in email?

^ Medium sprites (Protoman, Samus, Simon) are 5 each, the smaller sprites (Bub, Bob, The ultima sprites, and the chocobo) are 3.  Sparkster would be 6.50.  All prices are USD.

I had said it in an edit before, but it could've been missed.  These are generalities, and I'm willing to entertain any interests.  Price is related to size, as a general rule.

Ok so I found a bunch more stuff that might be cool for prizes.

An unopened Wario shirt (give out druing Wario land 5), a pocket sized mario encyclopedia, DS game Ouendan and a copy of World War Z. Not strictly related but... Resident Evil = Zombies.

A mario kart Wii wallet and Mario and Luigi GBA SP covers

A DMC4 Xbox 360 faceplate

Super Smash Bros. Melee battle cards

DS Dictator
Nice job looking after those Melee cards they were out in 2005 and the magazine said that the instructions were on the website or on a future issue.
The only good free gift I remembered from the newer ONM (2006-onwards) was that Mario and Sonic keyring. The DSi wallet thingy is like a sock, I use my old Nintendo DS cover from the old ONM to protect my DSi.

Nice to see you've still got the Mario and Luigi GBA SP plates, it mislead loads of people during Pokemon events thinking it was an actual Luigi GBA SP.
Fucking Weeaboo
I got a few things that I'm going to donate to the marathon cause.

4 Video Game movies: Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse (DVD and Blu Ray copies).  The DVDs are the Deluxe Edition and Special Edition respectively.
2 Games: Kingdom Hearts: Re:Chain of Memories (Greatest Hits), and one crazy ass Wii game that I'm gonna keep a secret until the marathon.

No pictures, but they're all sealed.  I'm sure somebody will enjoy. Smiley
I just felt like saying that my sister is drawing some pictures this year too. I don't have access to a scanner right now, so I will need to find one before the marathon (hopefully no webcam stuff this time around). The only completed picture at the moment is for the Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles/Rondo race, but it seems she's working on Kirby (Super Star?) next. The sketchbook size is 18 x 12, if it matters at all.
Visit my profile to see my runs!
So, what's the plan for awarding the prizes?  Would we offer certain ones at certain points during the marathon and say, "Highest donor for the next hour gets this [yadda yadda]!"  Or, are these prizes going to be arranged in order of 1-100 and whoever donates enough to be in the top 100 donors gets the prize for their respective number?  Or, will it be like the latter idea except people get to choose what they want in the order that they fall on the list (from what's left available)?

Just curious.

One issue that may crop up with only awarding prizes to large donors is that people who make smaller donations may feel left out, i.e., like their donations don't matter (which couldn't be further from the truth when we're dealing with such an important cause) Smiley
Willing to teach you the impossible
Idea, donations made within a specific time goes into a pool for a drawing. that way all the smaller donations will be included. But I also think they should be a set low amount. And that amount could be determined by the prize at stake. Thoughts?
Talk to the Hand
I think that was what we did for the sketches and things last year...any donation over $5 got you a chance to win. Then we did some other things where donations made in a certain time made you eligible for some bigger prizes.

There are two variants on this approach:

(1) Anyone who donates at least $x within the given time period is entered (i.e., gets one raffle ticket) for the draw.  Pros: makes everyone who donates feel included, and encourages lots of small donations within that time period.  Cons: discourages larger donations within that time period (unless, e.g., there's a bidding war on something like an RPG name or route choice happening during the same time period).

(2) For each $x you donate within the given time period, you get one raffle ticket for the draw.  Pros: encourages larger donations in multiples of $x, while still (somewhat) making everyone feel included.  Cons: makes people who make smaller donations feel they have little chance at winning.
Bwahahaha... there WILL be domination!
My only hope is that the prizes I make generate more money than they cost...  whatever method achieves that best is where I put my blessing ^_^

That said, I have no real opinion on the matter.

#1 is basically how we did it last year and I think that's the best approach. The incentive to donate big is created by people like you, who put in so much last year that we were basically gushing over you for the whole of FF6!

Heh, it was really easy to see that our guests at The Speed Gamers were old pros at this whole thing, whereas we very much weren't, when Poxnor's first donation came in:

Phil (Or was it Baltes, but I think it was Phil): "Oh, hey guys, we have a new donation."
Me: "Oh, cool, for how much?"
Phil (Very calmly): "Five hundred."
The entire rest of the room (Not nearly as calmly): "WHAT?!?"
