definitely, i'm a lot stronger there than on tetris attack (as shown by my just now practice attempt with stage 10 surviving an unspeakable 1:40... ugh)
i figure it's the other way around there. i can see a lot of fancy moves in dr. mario but i'm pretty crappy in terms of accuracy and consistency, and i haven't played the 64 version at all yet. along with kid icarus dr. mario nes and 64 are what i want to focus on after smrpg, trip world, and maybe another run or two are completed.
well we could race in both, to make it even lol
needless to say I don't think i'm ever going to go after your tetris attack record. I think part of it is I hadnt ever played the snes version until a few months ago when i picked it up. I learned with pokemon puzzle league, and while there's less lag the pieces break slower when i've played it and there are a few things with the chain that differ between the two, so it screws me up every now and then

This is the travel thread and not the practice tread!

That would be great, since getting the larger vehicles is spendy.  I'm not gonna force everybody that wants a ride to pay, but I would really appreciate those that do get a ride from me to chip in even a few bucks.

Got my plane tickets booked. I'll be arriving on the 5th at 4:50 pm at Washington National Airport (I assume this is the same as Reagan).
Could probably use a ride from the airport or rent something if more people are arriving somewhere near that time.

It's getting closer and closer to marathon time, so I really want to figure out how I'm getting there. To those that offered to get me, I can lessen your trip a little bit. I have family in Monticello, NY that I can stay with so you guys don't have to go all the way to Long Island.

If you guys aren't willing anymore, let me know so I can buy train tickets.

I will be arriving on the 5th at 4:40 PM at Dulles Airport.

Anybody that wants a ride from Dulles Airport to the marathon, my flight is scheduled to arrive on the 5th at 7:55 PM.  I'm on Southwest Airlines flight #0704.  So probably the best idea would be to look for me there.

I'll also give rides, back, barring that it's prior to about 7:30AM on the 12th, since I have a flight back that day at 9:05 AM.

Don't know exactly what I'm getting for a car, but I'm reserved for a "Sport Utility: Dodge Nitro or similar" though Avis.

Get a DeLorean. Or a Gremlin.
Not a walrus
Update: I'm flying into Reagan on the 5th at approx 6:30pm. I'll need a pickup if possible.

I would, but I'd rather you'd not have to wait almost 2-3 hours for me to get to you, since it looks like it's about 30-40 minutes to drive between airports.  If there is absolutely no other option and I have room in the vehicle, I will.
Willing to teach you the impossible
whats the distance from the airports to the 4h center?

oh yea, i need to update the thread with people's flight times so we can coordinate that stuff easier. will do that soon.

also if anyone is looking for flights still and lives in the U.S., take note that southwest airlines offers cheap ticket specials for ordering online, so start looking now since prices are only going up at this point.
Fucking Weeaboo
From Reagan, the 4H Center is about 30 minutes north.  Dulles is about 40 minutes west.

Attached is a map for perspective.  I've labeled which item is which.

And yes, Southwest flights are dirt cheap, plus first two checked bags are free!

I am planning on showing up on the 5th. I am ok with being taxi for a while.

Perhaps I should just make everything easier for everyone and come by train. I will most likely take Amtrak down to Union Station in DC, which is halfway between Reagan and the 4H Center. I'll need to be picked up.

Where is the station located, and what time do you think you'll arrive?  I will be willing, just don't want to keep you waiting for a long time if you're going to arrive long before I do.

I'm not sure on the time yet, but I'd like to arrive by noon.
Fucking Weeaboo
If you mean noon on the 5th, then I'm out, given my flight doesn't even LEAVE until after noon...I don't want you waiting 8 hours for a ride.  It'll take you less time to WALK.

Okay, I did that long overdue thread update finally.

First of all, if you are attending the marathon, please post your travel info in this thread ASAP! We don't want to be messing around with all of this at the last minute. I don't care if I already know that you live in the DC area and should assume you have a car. Please post that and whether you are willing to give rides.

Please read the first post carefully. If your name is in the spoiler box, then we still need to hear from you. Also in some cases I only have partial info, so please check whether I need more from you (mainly dealing with train/flight info). Hopefully we can start arranging rides and stuff at this point. At the very least, anyone taking a train or plane should be posting your arrival/departure stuff. If you have yet to plan it, you should really get on that because time will fly by before you know it.

So yea, I'd really like to get updates from EVERYONE! Thank you!

Speaking of updates, I'm arriving in Dulles on the 5th at 9:45 am, need a ride. Not leaving until 1/18 at 5:20 pm, and I need a ride for then but I'm more or less assuming it's gonna be Uyama covering that since I'll be one of the last people remaning.
Talk to the Hand
Silver and I don't have super-specific travel plans yet. If it plays out like the last several MAGFests, though, the plan is to drive down from Connecticut at around 8AM on the 6th, and get to the marathon at roughly 3PM on the 6th (My understanding is that, because we're rooming with Mercury and Lag, and they'll be the first ones in the room, check-in doesn't matter THAT much for us). We'll leave for MAGFest sometime on the 12th, and the new Mr. and Mrs. Emptyeye will depart from MAGFest early on the afternoon of the 16th. Cheesy

We would like to not give rides, sorry. Sad

Are you getting married at MAGFest?

Edit: My travel plans.
I'm flying on a friends D3 list via American Airlines.  Basically I fly for free but I have to go standby and I have the lowest priority.  For this reason I'm actually coming in a day early on the 4th (time uncertain until the day of, obviously) and Mike will pick me up.  Classes start on the 18th, so I imagine I'll be flying back on the 17th.
