It's getting closer to crunch time, so we should make sure everyone's getting to this event, eh? Please state how are you getting to the marathon (or at least in the general area of it) and where you are coming from. If you are driving, please say whether you are willing to provide rides for others. If you are taking public transit on the ground (train/bus), please provide as much as information as you can: arrival date/time into DC area, departure date/time from DC area, and which station you will be arriving in. If you are flying, please give the date/time of arrival and departure as well as the airport. I will assume you need a ride from there unless stated otherwise (example: Sir VG said he's renting a car). If you are taking a luxury cruise across the ocean to reach the United States, I'll assume you have a private helicopter waiting for you on shore to take you straight to the marathon and do not need assistance.

It is important to hear from everyone. Some people's situations have changed a bit since this thread was first made, so please give any updates as necessary (for example, Heidman doesn't live in the same place anymore so I need to know his new plan for transportation). Even if I should just assume you live in the area and have your own transportation covered, it would be beneficial for you to say that so I can have it on the table as a visual for others just so we have no question marks. Also, anyone with a car should especially be on the lookout for the train and plane people so you can see who you can pick up or take back there. Thank you!

So uh...after checking mapquest instead of guessing, it appears it's only 7 hours to MAGfest from my house. Therefore, I will very likely be attending, and definitely driving if I do.

Leaving from Rochester, NY. Definitely willing to carpool if anyone needs a ride on the way.

Looks like ill be landing on Washington Dulles airport. How far is that from magfest?

Nashville (Madison actually), TN - drove last year. More than likely doing the same. 10+ hours out to Mike's. Marathon only.

Assuming my finances stay intact I'll be flying in from Denver on Thursday and will need a ride from the airport as I was not planning on renting a car until after the marathon. Not sure where I'll be flying in to though.

dulles is pretty close to dc/magfest, maybe half an hour. bwi's a little farther, maybe an hour. dulles is way cooler though. Wink

UA is from Denver? Why didn't I know that? Anyway, you'll probably want to fly in to Reagan, it's cheaper than Dulles for National flights. And not that it'll help on the ride front necessarily, but it'd be cool if we got to fly out together. (Well, usually I just go early in the morning and sleep on the way out. But still.)

I'll be flying from Minneapolis-St. Paul likely to Reagan National Airport. If I know a few others are flying in there, I may be willing to rent a car if people are willing to chip in a few bucks. I promise I won't be too much of a reckless bastard while driving, but I know how nuts big city driving can be. I haven't done DC, but if I can survive Chicago, DC can't be much worse.

Well, I may be able to talk a friend into driving me to you, rochester isnt too far and talking a friend into driving a lil over an hour is substantially easier then talking a friend into driving 7 hour both ways (prolly twice). But that is of course if you decide not to come through my area. Still a ways to go, so lets see how things play out

tentatively planning on traveling by train to and from the marathon. i'm coming from nyc, don't know which station in the DC area i'll be traveling to and from though.

if, however, someone's offering a car ride passing near the city, i MIGHT take the offer up to lessen costs, we'll see.

edit: also, i need travel to and from whatever station near DC i decide on and the rental home.
