My feelings on The Demon Rush
Okay Rodrigo, a couple of things are obvious:

-Your English is not very good, and you have trouble understanding some of the more complex posts directed at you, which are usually the most thoughtful ones.

-You love attention, no matter how hard you try to deny it.

-You obviously love any kind of attention, even if it is negative, or else you would have stopped posting here years ago.

-Even if though you could care less about submitting to SDA, it seems to be one of your favorite hangouts.

-Though there is far too much TG hate on SDA, there are TG members we respect on SDA. For example: Emptyeye, Kareshi (number one!), and andrewg. Guess what the main difference between you and those three are (hint: it's only been mentioned in nearly every single post).

-You have consistently ignored spot-on advice from Enhasa, Breakdown, ZFG, Snorlax, and probably some others I'm forgetting.

-Even though there are a lot of doubters, there are still a lot of people who believe your records and just want to see them and be entertained.

That being said, you don't stop this dumb, cock-stroking bullshit, I will ban you for trolling. We rarely ever ban people from SDA, but every single time you post about your records you just cause petty arguments. If you want to improve your standing with us, you can do one of two things.

1. Submit something (probably will never happen)

2. Shut up and never come back here (also probably won't happen).
Merry Chrismas =)
it doesn't really matter to me, if you don't submit your run on SDA, if you upload your run anywhere else, just that I can watch it to be sure, that you're not just flaming

can anyone tell me, what TG is?
welcome to the machine
Quote from Rodrigo:
Who wants to know why I don't send records here? I never was Welcome!

No.  It's the opposite.  Nobody here likes you because you don't submit records here, make lots of posts bragging about your times, and then when somebody tells you to be sensible you turn around and say you're not bragging (when you clearly are).  You think you're "not welcome" here because you're from TG or something stupid like that?  Dude, just look at andrewg and kareshi and all sorts of other players.  No, what sets you apart is that you want to have your cake and eat it too: you only submit to TG, but then you come here and post about how awesome you are.  Most of us here actually believe that your records are legitimate, you know.  We just don't care, because you go about pointing them out in the most obnoxious ways.

Seriously, if you wanted to be respected here, the path is obvious.  Just submit already.  We don't actually hate you - we won't hold anti-rodrigo parties and break your DVDs in half when they arrive in the mail.  But you're just being annoying right now, and while submitting only to TG is your legitimate choice, and I don't feel like arguing about that, you can't have your cake and eat it too.  You can't come post on a site dedicated to showing videos about your awesome times and then not supply any videos or at least try to help those who can equal your times.  At this point, you're just bragging in the most obnoxious way possible.

If you actually tried to participate here, you'd realize that we're actually all very nice and friendly people.  No, really.  Our reactions to you are not representative of our normal behavior, we swear.  Smiley  But you don't try to participate, you just want to boost your ego by posting your times in as many places as possible (and even if that's not your intention, that's what you're doing, so if that is an honest mistake you want to apologize or at least stop).  And then you wonder why we're hostile to you.  Now that I think about it, it's really pretty hilarious.

(and Mike beat me to the punch by saying all this in a far more concise manner while I was typing this up.  oh well)

MrGrunz: TG is www.twingalaxies.com , another video game record site that tracks high scores and speedrun times.  There's a lot of differences between them and SDA, but now's not really the time or place to get into them, so if you're curious go browse and see what they're like.
Well-played, gentlemen.
zeldaspeedruns.com
Interesting... Rodrigo is ranked 4th overall on TG... Perhaps he doesn't want to submit videos to protect his WR score?

Meh, looking over TG, I'd rather stay with SDA. No Cheat/Bug policy huh? I guess if you were going for the Donkey Kong high score and discovered a glitch that gave you thousands of points quick that'd ruin the whole institution, but for speedrunning it's a whole different ball game... except in extreme conditions like LttP and LA's skip the entire game glitch. Also, i find it extremely lame for a site to count people's WRs like that. It's far too easy to pad one's WR score by playing some racing game no one has even heard of and just bulk up your WR score.

Also, wtf is with Tom Duncan's score on Garfield? how the hell can you score that high on an atari game?

Yeah, but that's just on the list of the most "World Records".

EDIT: I mean if I really cared or wanted, I could play like 20 racing games and just claim #1 on that list. Especially If every record I beat was one of tom duncan's Wink

Well, let me talk about my Legend of Zelda records:

Legend of Zelda - 1st Quest - (0:31:37) - This is a excelent record, but my objective is improve under 30 minutes, my Level-8 and mainly Level-9 is worst, I can improve large seconds, but is very hard the enemies drop bombs in the right moments, bombs is the key in this Zelda game.

Legend of Zelda - 2nd Quest - (0:39:59) - God, this record is a trash, I don't know how much I can improve, this is my worst Legend of Zelda record.

Zelda II - Speedrun - (01:01:19) -  Awesome run, but I know that I can to do under 1 hour, my key in this speedrun is because I complete this game without enemy encounters, this save me large seconds.

Zelda II - Speedrun Complete (01:15:05) - Awesome run, if I can improve my Speedrun I can improve this too, but I am very happy with this record.

Zelda II - From Save File - (0:41:50) - Cool, but is not my best, I can improve many seconds, I don't know how much I can, If I do under 40 minutes will be fantastic.

A Link to the Past - (01:36:43) - Fantastic run, my most perfect run of Legend of Zelda, a run wihout mistakes, my most perfect strategy, I believe that this record won't be beaten for anyone in this planet.

Link's Awakening - (01:22:57) Awesome run, I practice a lot the Item Menu, this save many second in the run, no mistakes, very hard accomplisment.

Link's Awakenind DX - (01:36:11) - Good run, but I can improve important seconds, many mistakes in my run and in last boss, but still is a good record.

Four Swords Adventures - (03:04:49) - God, this run is fantastic, I almost beat the SDA record (03:02:53) with 1 live and no saves or force fairy ( and my clock not stops in the world map ), nobody in this world will take close.

I found this post very interesting. It's interesting to see how Rodrigo Lopes ranks his own Zelda WRs imho.

You know Rodrigo, I have a NTSC-NES now, so when I asked if you were expecting a lot of Zelda II gaming this year, I meant if I beat your WRs at Zelda II of course.

Dear Rodrigo,

I believe your record has been beaten many single times by me. I can often get 1:36, it has become pretty easy after time.

My best time is 1:34:37 on the french version, a slower version than the english one. It would have been near from 1:33.

Plus, instead of being the biggest moron on earth and not show my video, it's available on my youtube channel instead, visible for everyone who wants to beat my record. And even then, I believe that this record won't be beaten for anyone in this planet.

My english version is coming soon, to.
I think it's quite obvious that he doesn't submit so nobody can use his tricks. At the same time he certainly uses tricks he didn't come up with. So I think that his gaming skills aren't of top notch quality and that he achieves his times because of unknown techniques/routes/glitches. He knows that his times might be unbeatable without knowing the stuff he knows.

Well honestly... in that case those times aren't world records but completely different categories. You are only the best if you compete with the best and win.

I'd bet you, Rodrigo, that if you showed your runs up here at SDA there wouldn't be more than 6 months until every single one of your records were beaten. But of course because of this fact you won't submit, will you? ;-)

So guys... don't be so angry about this. Rodrigo is just a coward, that's all.

@Wak: Haha this is so great. In your face Rodrigo! ;-)
Merry Chrismas =)
not showing tricks is the dumbest thing ever

think about it:

I became famous just because of publishing majora's mask and ocarina of time tricks, I've discovered. same thing happened to many other awesome glitch hunters like kazooie, petrie911, acryte etc.

and if he doesn't publish runs, he can go away, because nobody needs such a poser like rodrigo
Haters gonna hate
Was there really any need to bump this topic just for this?  I got all excited thinking someone was working on LoZ, and just got some 3 month delayed Rodrigo bashing.

I'm not a big fan of the guy either, but seriously, was that really necessary?
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!

Fix'd  Tongue

And yes, it was necessary. Everything is necessary on SDA.
Don't think!  feeeeeal
I was thinking about doing a LoZ speedrun, but this french guy may have already done the job.

That's your fault for getting your hopes up.

Anyone find this youtube video that french guy said he posted?  If he's got awesome run up that be sweet, which it sounds like from him that he does.

That's his SS run.

He did a ALTTP speedrun not LoZ.

Lately at anime cons I've been spending more and more time in the game rooms playing Zelda 1 over and over trying stuff out.  I think I might start bringing the mac book and record some of them, just in case.  Oddly enough, I've been playing Parallel Worlds lately (didn't know you had anything to do with it Tompa - or at least your name came up on some site about it).  Other than some stuff not being explained (like you can't save before a certain point), it's fun and not at all that difficult.  Maybe it will get me back into ALttP.

Watched your Hyrule Castle/Sewer part of the run Wak - use the boomerang when you get it over swinging the sword.  You killed 2 things (guard, rope) which took 2 swings and you were just trying to get by.  Stun them with one close-range boomerang toss (faster than a swing, one less action).  IN first room you come out of the sewers, diagonal walk northeast, then when bats are cleared, diagonal walk northwest.  Don't have to swing the sword and stop, and you do not slow down I believe by walking diagonally, as long as you don't waste any steps trying to get back to the "center" once you've reached the top of the room. Skip the HC chest. Will watch rest later, but good stuff man.

I made a, more or less, speedrun of Parallel Worlds one/two months after the game came out. It was basically intended as a walkthrough as many people had problems with the game.
I was also helping out in several forums for people that were stuck, as well as making dungeon maps, heart piece location guide and helped a guy making a FAQ of the game. They made a 1.1 release, mostly grammar fixes, which I beta tested. But they never fixed the things I mentioned. That would come in the 2.0 version that has been on hold for quite some time.

Anyway... Wak is working on a new SS run currently. He has ordered an US version which he's going to attempt a new segmented run with, and perhaps a SS with that cartridge as well, I don't know.
You only save four frames by using the boomerang instead of the sword, so it isn't really a huge timesaver... But the boomerang stuns them so they won't be in your way for awhile, which is a good thing as well.

I guess I can post a link to my ALttP TAS as well for those who are interested.

Hi TSA.

I'll think about it for the next run I promise Tongue

For the hyrule castle, the knight I swordhit is because there's a glitch if I swing the boomerang to hit him but he sees me, the boomerang will just stop in front of the guard and come back. I don't believe this is a safe strat, so I use the sword.

For diagonal walking, I found (and believe tompa also did) something interresting. Diagonal walking makes you lose frames. It's good when reaching from point A to point B does not need any dash attack. BUT, If you need a dash attack, it's better to not use any diagonal walking. I did not do it in my 1:34 run, but I hope you understand! I could show you a demo of what I'm trying to explain if necessary.

EDIT:
Link's movement is the following amount of pixels for each frame:

Left/right/down/up: 1, 2, 1, 2 etc.
Wobbling (Hold left and press right every second frame/hold up and press down every second frame) left/up: 2, 2, 2 etc.
Diagonal movement: One pixel each direction.
Running speed: 4, 4, 4

So if you want to do as in the video Wak posted; run to the right but need to go down a bit first, it's faster to just go down and then run to the right instead of diagonal movement.

That's cool to know - I don't use emus so I wouldn't have ever found that out.  My only other suggestion would be when you have the luxury, use damage boosts off enemies.  It's very nitpicky and would save you minimal time at all, but the fact we're critiquing very tacky stuff like this speaks to how good your run is Wak.

I got my english version today! I'm going to try a run tomorrow. One thing I noticed right after playing it for the first time is okay, the text is longer but the item selection is a little bit longer. Tompa calculated 12 frames faster, which means a second slower when pressed 5 times in an english version. I will save less time than I though.

Double post FTL.

I attempted a run on english version for the first time today. My second attempt was going well, but I died against the boss in ice dungeon. I owned myself with 4 bombs to achieve this damage boost. How unconsistant I am.

But this post is not about the above paragraph. I calculated my time in my first english version run compared to my 1:34 run on french version. I actually was 35 seconds ahead of my french run. This is much more than I expected... Plus, Aghanim did not even cooperate. The english version might save more than I though, for reasons I can't figure out at all.
