Hey guys im dan and i started speed running late in the summer of 2013, i know legend of zelda Oot any% and im learning MM any%.  My long term goal is to do the 3d zelda challenge (quite a while in the future).  I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/danray2352 so if you know zelda speedruns i would greatly appreciate any help with tricks or words of encouragement.  Also if any newer runners want to participate in an informal oot any % race, i race friday nights for fun with some friends.

Jacob here, going by T-dob, Demon or Demie, depending on who you ask.

I've been watching speedruns for the past year or so and finally decided to get into it. As an avid shmup player, I was in a bit of a pickle when it came to choosing a game to run, since most shmups are strict on time. I also didn't want something that would take a lot of time to complete, such as 100% runs of most Zelda games. In the end, I settled down with "Hisoutensoku", some cross between a shmup and a fighter game. I have a great time both playing and running it, and wonder where I could go after that.

As for my actual streaming tendencies, I try to keep casual and immerse myself with the group. I've hosted a few events on my twitch channel before and people seem to enjoy it. Hopefully I'll be seeing a few of you around.

Now then. Time to figure out how to get this show rolling.
Hey everyone, I'm Skelekat

I have been watching speedruns now for almost a year, and I decided it was time to start speedrunning myself. The only problem was, I wasn't very into gaming when I was a kid. So all these games that are popular to run nowadays, I have never even played before. So I decided if I was going to run a game, it may as well be something I enjoy playing. I settled with Tak and the Power of Juju. You can watch me stream my run attempts over at http://www.twitch.tv/skelekat_tv if you really want to.

The only downside about running that game is, nobody else runs it. So I've had to come up with the whole 3+ hour route myself. Ah well, at least its a fun game!

Hello, my name is Juhan but on the internet I'm known as playsihull. I've started speedrunning in June 2012 but I haven't been bothered to dedicate too much time to it. My favourite game series is Crash Bandicoot. Probably cause they we're one of the first games I got for the PlayStation. I also like Spyro the Dragon, GTA, Tomb Raider, Gex and few Disney games for the PS1. List of games I'm going to speedrun (or at least try to): Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, Spyro: Year of the Dragon, Gex 3D Enter the Gecko and some GTA games. Currently I can't to them all cause I don't have a capture card yet. But anyways, stop reading this and get speedrunning!
Hey guys, Damon here. Damon07 is my common online username, but you can just call me Damon. I'm pretty sure the first speedrun that I watched was the world record for Pokemon Blue glitchless. I watched it all the way through with no breaks, and I was simply amazed by the precision of the runner in absolutely everything he did. I then started watching speedruns of all other kinds of games, and I've been hooked since.

That was probably a little under a year ago, and for the longest time I've been watching random speedruns on YouTube of games I thought would be interesting to see speedrun. However, over this summer, I discovered AGDQ and in turn discovered SDA. Over the past month or so, I've been constantly watching AGDQ runs, and I have loved just about every one. I was inspired to try a speedrun myself, and after looking through my available games, I decided on Super Mario Bros. 2, Peach only, even though I'm pretty awful at the game. In fact, I just started on it today, and I'd say I've made very good progress considering it's only day 1. I signed up to be a part of this awesome community, and for some expert help on my current and future runs. I'm sure the experience will be awesome!

By the way, I'm only 14 years old, but I hope to be treated like all the other users on this site! (:
Hey, i'm Cosmoing. Friends call me Alex. I learned about speedrunning around a month ago and was instantly captivated by it. Nearly my entire life has been spent on video games, and i plan on keeping it that way. I've tried beating some games quickly before, but nothing quite on this level. What really got me into this was SGDQ 2013. Beating games that fast, and as a one-shot live too? Amazing. Ever since then i've wanted to start myself, but i kept putting it off. Now i really want to get going, and i've decided on Super Mario Sunshine. I've played this game all the way through a few times, so i should be okay for casual running. Any tips on the game are very appreciated. I can't wait to get started. I hope to enjoy my stay here with everyone!
Heh, amateurs...

Crash and Spyro community is amazing. Year of the Dragon feels somewhat neglected at times, so the more runners the better.

Hey guys, this is InterrupterJones (Jack in real life) and I've been wanting to get into speedrunning lately so I'm excited!

I haven't been sure what to try to run, but I've decided I'd love to do Borderlands, since it's one of my favorite games.  In terms of older consoles, I'd like to do Mega Man X, but let's be real here, Caleb is untouchable.  I see there's no SR for Glover, so that's one I'd love to try also since that's another one of my favorites, even if it is kind of a crappy game on the whole.

At any rate, if the marathons I've seen are anything to go by, I look forward to meeting a ton of awesome people!
Hi all, I'm Jim "ix" McCann, long-time appreciator of speed runs (though with tastes running to the tool-assisted end of the spectrum).

I used to do graphics research (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~jmccann/), and now I write video games (http://tchow.com/games/). I care a lot about "perfectibility" in my games an I'm hoping to find some like-minded folks unafraid of difficulty and interested in really pushing the limits of Rktcr and (eventually) Rainbow.

My name is Silver. I've been a part of SRL for nearly a year so I figured I'd join the SDA community as well. I speedrun various games such as Star Fox 64 and Mega Man Star Force. I've been a lurker on Twitch since it launched and I'm still not too good at streaming but I like doing it when I can.
The noob
Hi, I'm Garcymore, avid gamer and wannabe speedrunner, I came here because i'm pretty sure this is the best place to start and/or get advices.
SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
Figured I might as well get here while the getting is good. My name is Jason, but my online persona is Deuceler.  I've been speedrunning games since March of this year, a long delayed and inevitable transformation of gaming for me.  I currently run Contra, Mega Man X, Link's Awakening DX, Super Mario World, Final Fantasy IV, and I race misc. games.  I work two weeks on two weeks off as a facility operator for BP and I spend my off time playing games, hanging out with my wife and pugs, or playing in my band.  I love the tight knit community speedrunning brings and look foward to meeting/racing many of you in the future.
Hey guys, my name is Sam but online I go by Nero. I haven't started speedrunning yet but I've got my hands on a copy of quake and I really want to learn to run it.
Learner/Assister
Why, hello there. My name is Joseph "QQmorez" Solberg, don't expect to see much of me for a while, I'm just here to learn and hopefully provide any assistance i can to something. I am in the process of figuring out what game i wish to learn first. While i am learning i will not be streaming my game, but as soon as my pb gets within an hour of a decent time then i will. Currently I attend college in North Dakota in the United States. I'm hoping to attend a GDQ, not to run a game, but to experience the event. I also offer my skills in digital video and audio and sound management. Of the people i watch run games, i would have to say SpikeVegeta is my favorite, but of all runners, Blueglass. Who can argue with the man the myth the legend, Blueglass.
Sup!
Name's Andreas, going by the online nick Fanva.
Used to play a ton of WoW and TF2 and been a fan of speedrunning since I saw some q1 runs a bunch of years ago but never gotten around to actually try it myself. Always been more into team based games.
Just started running my first game Ducktales Remastered and it's going fairly well at least.
Work as a serviceengineer in the power electronics field. Avid music fan listening to everything from Death Metal and Crustpunk to Hip-Hop and Electronic Hardcore.
If you like you can watch me constantly reset Ducktales at www.twitch.tv/fanva and listen to some music as I usually listen to music while playing/resetting.
Hey everyone, name's Derek but you can call me Dr.D.

I've been a big fan of what you guys do here at SDA and have been watching lots of their videos as long as I can remember. I hope one day I can also contribute something. Take care everyone, peace.
Hey,

I'm the new guy! My name is Peter and I'm from Germany. I was always a big fan of the old games like Zelda, Secret of Mana/Evermore etc. and really got into speedrunning while watching AGDQ2013. Recently I found my old SNES in the basement and started playing again. Maybe when I have enough sparetime in the cold months, I'll start trying to beat some of the game times.
Hello

I am Michael from Poland. I have been watching you quietly since 2007. Enjoying all your work and decided do some on my own.
Working on some DOS games speedruns, Prehistorik 1 ( got 12:22 already recorded but want improve it ) Prehistorik 2, Magicland Dizzy and some other obscure crap ( maybe Colorado attempt if someone request it lol ).
Have a nice day.
Well, then. Might as well introduce myself. I'm TheJoRu (simply JoRu works just as well), currently residing in Sweden.

I speedrun Super Meat Boy Any% (current PB is 22:39) and Super Mario 64 16-star (22:00) for the moment, but will eventually get into more time-consuming games and categories. My speed running dream would be to be able to become decent at any of the longer 3D Zelda categories such as OoT 100%, Wind Waker Any% or TP Any%. That would be swell.

Take care, guys, and I'll see you in the stream chats (and here on the SDA-forum, obviously)!
Resident Evil 2
Hello all. Love what you guys have going on here and finally joined after lurking for a while. I have been speed running Resident Evil 2 - Claire A for a couple years now and don't plan on stopping until I have a perfect run (fastest time I could imagine).
My name is Zwajken and pretty soon I'm gonna start speedrunning Eternal Darkness any%, follow me if want to! Smiley
Hello!  My name is Stephen.  I am new to these forums, but I have been a fan of SDA's work for years.  I am old school, so I play mostly the older NES / DOS games.    My favorites are the Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games.    I also contributed the first guide to Warlords for DOS on gamefaqs.

I am interested in getting involved with the charity events, but I would really like to be able to talk to somebody about it... preferably over the phone (so we don't have to type a bunch back and forth).

I will look around the forums, but if anyone wants to PM me some info about who I could talk to, that would be awesome.  I had a few ideas about some speedrunning for the event, and I had some other questions, too.

Looking forward to seeing what kinds of cool stuff people are doing on here!  Hopefully, at some point, I can post some of my gaming exploits, too.  happy
You gonna eat that?
